Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of counseling during Antenatal care (ANC) on the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about the danger signs of pregnancy in the Kapasa health center coverage area. Methods: In this study, using a pre-experimental design design with the One Group Pre test and Post test approach and using purposive sampling research techniques. The number of samples is 16 people. The sampling technique uses the Federer formula. Data was collected by means of a questionnaire, data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis using distribution tabels and Wilcoxon statistical test with 95% confidence degrees. Results: The results showed that the results of the Wilcoxon test for knowledge obtained p value = 0.011 which means that there is an effect of counseling on knowledge of pregnant women. And the Wilcoxon test results obtained p value = 0.025, which means there is an effect of counseling on the attitude of pregnant women. Conclusion: there is an effect of counseling during antenatal care on attitudes of pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Population is one of the most important indicators in a country. Classical economists, pioneered by Adam Smith, even considered that population was a potential input that could be used as a factor of production to increase the output of a corporate household. The more people there are, the more labor that can be used. The Purpose Of This Study Is To Know The Relationship Of Knowledge And Access To Information With To Know The Relationship Of KB Programs In Suppressing Population Growth Rate In Maginti Village Of Maginti District Of West Muna Regency In 2023 Methods: This study used a descriptive survey research design correlated with the Cross Sectional approach, a sample of 45 respondents. The sampling technique used is accidental sampling Results: Based on table 5.4 above, it was obtained that out of 45 respondents, there were 8 (17.8%) respondents who stated that the birth control program was beneficial but the population growth rate was rapid, and there were 25 (55.6%) respondents who stated that the birth control program was beneficial along with evidence that the population growth rate was lagging. While the respondents who stated that the KB program was not beneficial, there were 8 (17.8%) accompanied by a rapid population growth rate, and there were 4 (8.9%) respondents who stated that the KB program was not beneficial, but the population growth rate was delayed. Based on the results of Chi-Square statistical test, it was obtained that the ρ value of 0.009 means that there is a Relationship of KB Programs In Suppressing Population Growth Rate In Maginti Village Of Maginti District Of West Muna Regency In 2023 Conclusion : there is a Relationship between the KB Program in Suppressing the Population Growth Rate In Maginti Village of Maginti District of West Muna Regency in 2023

Abstract

Background: One of the leading causes of maternal mortality in Indonesia in 2022 was postpartum hemorrhage, accounting for 741 cases. In addition to causing death, postpartum hemorrhage can lead to complications that affect the health of both the mother and baby in subsequent pregnancies and deliveries. Postpartum hemorrhage is a national-level issue and can be caused by several risk factors such as age, parity, and anemia. Objective: To analyze the factors associated with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage. Research Method: This study employed a retrospective analytical method with a Case-Control Study approach, involving 71 postpartum mothers who experienced hemorrhage as cases and 71 postpartum mothers who did not experience hemorrhage as controls at RSUD Lamaddukkelleng Wajo from January 1 to December 31, 2023. Samples were selected using simple random sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The Chi-Square statistical test results showed p-values for age (0.002 < 0.05), parity (0.001 < 0.05), and anemia (0.002 < 0.05). These results indicate a significant relationship between age, parity, and anemia with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage. Conclusion: To reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) due to postpartum hemorrhage, it is crucial for healthcare providers to improve the quality of care, especially for expectant mothers. By adopting a more comprehensive and preventive approach, we can identify and address risk factors early on, thereby reducing the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and ensuring maternal safety. This effort will not only enhance overall maternal health but also strengthen the healthcare system's ability to effectively manage critical cases.

Abstract

Background: Wrongone of the most common Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a growing public health concern, influenced by genetic and environmental factors such as obesity and sedentary lifestyles. The prevalence of DM at Kapasa Health Center has risen significantly, from 103 cases in 2021 to 351 cases in 2024. Understanding the relationship between BMI, genetic predisposition, and blood glucose levels is crucial for better management strategies. Objective: This study aims to analyze the correlation between BMI and genetic predisposition with blood glucose levels in DM patients at Kapasa Health Center, Makassar. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 40 DM patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured observation sheets and blood glucose measurements. BMI was classified based on WHO standards. Pearson correlation analysis was used to assess the relationship between BMI and blood glucose levels, while Chi-Square tests were applied to determine the association between genetic predisposition and blood glucose levels. Results: The results revealed a significant positive correlation between BMI and blood glucose levels (r = 0.67, p = 0.002), indicating that individuals with higher BMI had elevated blood glucose levels. However, the Chi-Square test (p = 0.742) showed no significant association between genetic predisposition and blood glucose levels. This suggests that while genetic factors contribute to diabetes susceptibility, BMI plays a more substantial role in glycemic control. Conclusion: BMI is significantly associated with blood glucose levels, emphasizing the importance of weight management in diabetes prevention and control. Genetic predisposition alone does not directly influence blood glucose regulation. Public health interventions should focus on obesity prevention and lifestyle modifications to reduce diabetes prevalence.

Abstract

Background: Acute respiratory infections (ARI) remain a major health problem in children under five. One of the risk factors associated with ARI is exposure to cigarette smoke. This study aimed to examine the relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the incidence of ARI among children under five at Kapasa Health Center, Makassar City, in 2024. Methods: This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 44 parents or family members of children under five were recruited using a non-probability sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test to determine the association between exposure to cigarette smoke and the incidence of ARI. Results: The Chi-Square test showed a p-value of 0.022, which was lower than the significance level of 0.05. This finding indicates a statistically significant relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the incidence of ARI in children under five. Conclusion: Exposure to cigarette smoke is significantly associated with the occurrence of ARI in children under five at Kapasa Health Center, Makassar City. Preventive measures to reduce children’s exposure to cigarette smoke are urgently needed to lower the risk of ARI.

Abstract

Pneumonia is an acute respiratory infection and a leading cause of child mortality worldwide, with exposure to cigarette smoke identified as one of its risk factors. This study aims to determine the relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the incidence of pneumonia in children aged 1–4 years at RSUD dr. La Palaloi Maros. A descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving 55 children diagnosed with pneumonia based on medical record data and selected through total sampling. The results showed that most pneumonia cases occurred in children aged 1–2 years (62.5%) and were more common in boys (65.0%). Among the 40 children diagnosed with pneumonia, 35 (63.61%) were exposed to cigarette smoke. Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test indicated a significant association between exposure to cigarette smoke and the incidence of pneumonia (p = 0.000). This study concludes that cigarette smoke exposure is significantly associated with pneumonia in children aged 1–4 years. It is therefore recommended that parents create a healthier home environment by avoiding smoking indoors as a preventive measure.
