Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of risk-taking behavior on the financial performance of banks in Indonesia. The stability and profitability of banks are key indicators in assessing the health of the banking sector, where Return on Assets (ROA) is used as the primary measure of financial performance. The data used in this study is sourced from banking annual reports, Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) during the period of 2007–2023. The analysis method applied is Generalized Ordered Logistic Regression to classify the levels of ROA of banks and identify the impact of risk-taking behavior.

Abstract

Financial inclusion has an important role in encouraging banking competition which illustrates the potential for economics benefits both micro and macro levels. Each country has structural characteristics that can be boosters or obstacles to the acceleration of financial inclusion. It is difficult to say that a country has a stable financial condition, because the huge financial system tends to be more vulnerable to crises and instability. This study aims to analyze the impact of financial inclusion on financial system stability in 40 developing countries from 2005-2021. Based on the type of data and the form of the equation, this study uses the Dynamic Panel Data analysis method with the Generalized Method of Moment approach. This study uses the System General Method of Moment (SYS GMM) two-step estimator. The results show financial system stability of developing countries is influenced by the global economics policy uncertainty, so that the shock at the global level will have an impact on domestic economic instability. Financial inclusion through the use of financial services can encourage financial system stability because it shows the financial depth and resilience of the central bank in the face of shocks. However, financial inclusion through the availability of access to financial institutions can cause instability in the financial system because ease of access tends to encourage people in developing countries to borrow excessively and have an impact on the instability of the financial system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the family Hope Program (PKH) as from of government social assistance on household consumption expenditure patterns in Indonesia. The approach used is the Quadratic Almost Ideal System (QUAIDS) with the Three-Stage Least Squares (3SLS) estimation technique, using the 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) data. The estimation results show that government assistance encourages a crowding in effect in the structure of household consumption, which is reflected in an increase in the proportion of expenditure on categories such as food, education, lighting fuel, and other expenditures. This effect indicates that social assistance acts as an instrument that strengthens the purchasing power of poor households while allowing budget reallocation to priority sectors that were previously neglected. In contrast, the proportion of expenditure on commodities that are flexible or can be postponed, such as transportation, durable goods, entertainment, and clothing, tends to decrease. These findings reinforce the role of social assistance programs in increasing welfare and improving the quality of consumption of vulnerable households.

Abstract

This study offers significant new insights into the relationship between financing risk, as determined by Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Islamic Commercial Banks' financial performance, as determined by Return On Asset (ROA). In this study, data from 10 Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia between 2016 and 2023 are analyzed using panel data regression. The results show that NPF significantly lowers ROA. This suggests that inadequate financing risk management can have a significant negative influence on the profitability of Islamic banks, as the greater the NPF level, the worse the bank's financial performance. The aforementioned discovery underscores the need of executing efficient risk mitigation strategies to guarantee the steadiness and durability of banks' fiscal outcomes. It also emphasizes how Islamic banks must concentrate more on reducing financing risk if they want to increase market share and perform better.
