Abstract

The purpose of writing articles is to discuss prophetic leadership, prophetic leadership values and internalization in Islamic educational institutions. Prophetic leadership is a leadership paradigm that refers to the concept of leadership of the Prophets. In contrast to conventional leadership theories whose ultimate goal is worldly pursuit, prophetic leadership is leadership in Islam that seeks to restore human nature as khalīfah and ‘abdu-llāh. The idea of prophetic leadership is intended so that Muslims as the best people can realize the three ideals that become prophetic leadership values, namely humanization, liberation, and transcendence. The capitalist paradigm has trapped the subjects of Islamic educational institutions in materialist goals. Therefore, the process of internalizing prophetic leadership becomes a necessity in the effort to make Islamic educational institutions free from non-ethical behavior. These prophetic leadership values can be internalized either through the learning activities of a subject or subject or through managerial activities within an Islamic educational institution. Internalization requires a common paradigm by leaders, staff, and teachers. It takes an exemplary leader who has theological paradigm so that the process of internalizing prophetic leadership values can really be realized.

Abstract

The criticism addressed to Islamic Education Institutions (IEI) attribute to its incompetence to overcome the bad habit in this country such as corruption, collusion and nepotism, raise the need of IEI to realize the existence of hidden curriculum. It is side effect  of education when formal curriculum to be implemented, through school culture. Hidden curriculum embedded in school culture that participate in creating student’s character. Using literature studies, this article try to give undertstanding about the importance of hidden curriculum, including its existence and sources, and give recommendation for IEI’s administrators to evaluate the aspects contributing to school culture and impacting the hidden curriculum.  It is hoped that realizing the existence of hidden curriculum will help IEI to evaluate many posibilities that cause unexpected output of education.     Keywords: hidden curriculum, school culture, Islamic education institutions

Abstract

Transformational leadership is becoming the popular concepts in the management science for the last 30 years, as well as in the field of education management. To avoid an application in the education sector that is merely followed because of trending, it needs an understanding of the historical side of the transformational leadership model. Through the literature study, this study presented three things: (1) The history of the development of leadership theories; (2) The history of a transformational leadership theory model, and (3) the development of transformational leadership studies in the field of education. The development of leadership studies involving intrinsic and extrinsic motivational theories, has spawned the idea of an intrinsic transformational leadership, compared to extrinsic transactional leadership. Inspired by the writings of James McGregor Burns (1978), Bernard M. Bass (1990) created the concept of transformational leadership model, to popular and became an important study to be implemented in various sectors, including in the field of education. The study of transformational leadership in the area of pedagogy has come to the conclusion that transformational leadership is an ideal representation of the practice at school in the 21st century.

Abstract

Islamic Education Institutions (IEIs), as a part of social system life, need to be aware of their environment. They have to realize that the existence of environment’s elements around them, determine their sustainability. Therefore, it is a necessity to implement environment analysis. Using literature studies, this article tries to analyzing environment’s elements of IEIs, both internal and external. It is hoped that article will give perspective to IEIs’ manager about the importance of environment analysis and be guidance for a manager who wants to execute environment analysis.

Abstract

To survive and thrive, educational institutions need the direction of human resources management has focused on the achievement of the long-term goals, by applying the strategic human resource management approach. This article aims to discuss the implementation of the fundamental to the human resource management (HRM) approach in educational institutions, include: the basic concepts of strategic human resource management; principles and urgency of its application in educational institutions. Through the study of literature, the results of the study show that to cope with the challenge of managing educational that an increasingly complex, it needs human resource management that not only run management functions, but also leads to the strategy to achieve the long term goals of institutions. This approach is known as the strategic human resource management. This approach became particularly urgent to implement in the educational institutions on three needs; (1) Managing human as the most important resources in the achievement of the main objectives of education; (2) Keep the accountability of institutions in the public eye; and (3) Making human resources as a competitive advantage for the institution. Its application at educational institutions require a series of principles include: understanding of the institutional environment; understanding of the development of the world of work; focus on long term goals of the institution; attention to the development of institutional personnel; and integrating human resources strategy with the strategy of the institution.

Abstract

Today, globalization and rapidly technological advances demand educational institutions to adapt for survival. Technology, quality, effectiveness and efficiency demands, often requiring institutions to make changes, are not merely evolutionary but revolutionary. Consequently, various management, business concepts are adopted and applied with adjustments. One of them is known as re-engineering. Despite being an important topic in the early 90’s, reengineering is still rarely discussed in education. The article aims to present a discussion about the concept of reengineering, covering basic concepts, primarily in the difference with other management concepts, and its application to educational institutions–covering its component drivers ot the concept needs and the examples. Using literature study, it concludes that this concept is applicable to educational institutions, as the right tool for making institutional changes revolutionary. The concept can be applied in either support business (administrative process), or core business (process of teaching learning activities) to educational institutions. Reengineering conducted in the administrative process proved can bring up the new culture from the new system that has been built. While reengineering conducted in the teaching process proved can increase learner’s motivation and interest, due to the adoption of new methods in the process of teaching learning that involving technology.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and understand two important things, namely; characteristics of effective communication of school principals and the role of effective communication of school principals in improving institutional performance. This research uses a qualitative approach to the type of library research, by collecting data from; books, kitab, journals, articles. Data analysis was performed using content analysis. Through the literature study, the results show that: first, there are six characteristics of effective communication of leaders: being gentle, not being rude in speech, not being stubborn, forgiving and asking for forgiveness, inviting deliberation, and committed to conducting joint decisions and resignation to Allah SWT. Second, effective communication leaders play a role in; 1) Increase the effectiveness in sharing the vision of the Mission; 2) Improving the performance of the staff in the teacher's specialty; 3) Establishing partnerships with the school community 4) building a conducive school climate; and 5) Increasing the students' achievements. The results implicates on the importance of leaders of Islamic institutions to have the characteristics of effective communication, so it can play a role in improving the performance of the Institution.

Abstract

Fiqh learning is one of the Islamic religious materials that must be taught in madrasas. Researchers and practitioners of fiqh material try to find factors that can increase learning achievement and motivation. There is an assumption that one of the factors that determines the mastery of learning fiqh is the possession of language talent. Based on these assumptions, the study aims to determine whether the level of students' language talent has an impact on their learning achievement and motivation, by first disclosing the level of language proficiency, the level of learning achievement and the level of motivation to study specifically in Islamic Jurisprudence subjects. The research uses quantitative types with data collection techniques through questionnaire surveys for language aptitude variables and through documentation for students' learning achievement variables. The research was conducted on MTsN students in Malang Regency, with a sample of 122 respondents. The data obtained was then analyzed using a relationship test (causal) through linear regression. The results show that there is an influence of language talent on improving student achievement and motivation. This finding has implications for obtaining an important factor that must be considered by Fiqh teachers in an effort to improve their students' learning achievement and motivation, namely the factor of language talent.

Abstract

Pendampingan orang tua telah menjadi objek kajian karena dampaknya dalam mempengaruhi sisi kognitif, afektif maupun psikomotorik siswa. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengkonfirmasi teori dan hasil-hasil penelitian terdahulu yang menyatakan bahwa terdapat korelasi pendampingan orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar dan perilaku siswa. Subjek yang diteliti adalah peserta didik dari MI merah Putih Desa Kedungsalam Kecamatan Donomulyo, dengan unit observasi adalah walimurid dari peserta didik tersebut. Prestasi belajar siswa dibatasi pada mata pelajaran akidah akhlak. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, di mana data didapatkan melalui survei menggunakan angket. Sejumlah 85 jawaban responden diolah menggunakan uji korelasi produk moment. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi pendampingan orang tua terhadap prestasi belajar ‘akidah akhlak dan perilaku siswa. Penelitian berimplikasi pada pentingnya orang tua memperhatikan anak melalui aktivitas-aktivitas pendampingan yang tepat, agar anak terdorong untuk bersemangat belajar meningkatkan prestasi belajar mereka sekaligus dapat mendorng munculnya perilaku baik pada anak.
