Abstract

Madrasas have now developed into the community's choice. The negative influence of the environment due to globalization and the development of information technology is the reason why parents choose madrasas. There is hope that madrasas as a type of Islamic educational institution can educate their children to have noble character and morals, who apply Islamic religious values in everyday life. This is the background to the importance of studying how madrasas are able to meet the expectations of their constituent communities. For this reason, the research aims to find out how strategies for internalizing religious values and teachings to students are implemented by madrasas, taking the location at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) 5, Malang (Regency). The method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Primary data collection used interview techniques with madrasa heads, teachers & students; and observation techniques in the school environment and various religious activities carried out. The research results show that there are three strategic steps that educational institutions need to take to be successful in internalizing students' religious values and teachings: 1) Establishing a policy on religious values and programs that serve as guidelines for joint implementation; 2) Implementing values and programs through habituation and example; 3) Providing reinforcement through providing advice and disciplinary supervision. The results of this research contribute a theoretical and practical guide for academics and educational management practitioners that in an effort to internalize a particular value or teaching, a step-by-step process is needed which starts with policy making, then implemented, and then given reinforcement to achieve the goal of establishing character can succeed.

Abstract

Generation Z often faces challenges related to time management due to excessive use of social media and online gaming, leading to reduced learning productivity and student achievement. This issue has been identified at SMP-SMA Muhammadiyah Sumberpucung, Malang. To address these challenges, lecturers from STIT Ibnu Sina collaborated with students to conduct community service activities using a service learning approach. The activity chosen was a training program titled "Know Yourself, Develop Potential, Achieve Success," aimed primarily at SMP-SMA Muhammadiyah students, followed by counselling sessions with institutional leaders and teachers to develop sustainable solutions for the institution's challenges. These community service activities significantly impacted three groups. Firstly, for SMP-SMA Muhammadiyah students, the pre-and post-training tests showed that 60% of participants gained new insights into their potential and talents, which could be developed into future success. Secondly, for STIT Ibnu Sina students, the service learning experience enhanced their skills in organizing activities, utilizing learning methods and media, building social capital, communicating effectively, problem-solving, and activity evaluation. Thirdly, this activity helped SMP-SMA Muhammadiyah leaders and teachers address issues related to improving their student performance and achievement. These findings suggest that community service, implemented through the service learning concept, can serve as a mutually beneficial collaboration between educational institutions to solve educational challenges.

Abstract

The government seeks to liberalize higher education by encouraging the realization of higher education management autonomy. To be independent, universities carry out liberalization through the selection of new students. The emergence of the phenomenon of several allegations of new student admissions provides opportunities for liberalization policies in recruiting new students that have excesses that need to be studied for opportunities and challenges for PTKIN, which is identical to the mission of da'wah. For this reason, it seeks to discuss the liberalization policy in the selection of new students in terms of (1) the forms of legal policy; (2) the challenges of negative excess (3) and the opportunities for advancement for PTKIN. The research uses qualitative methods, through a literature study approach, by collecting secondary data in the form of relevant documents to answer research questions. The results of the study indicate that (1) the Indonesian government has liberalized higher education, in the form of a higher education autonomy policy, in which each institution is given wider authority to obtain funding from the public through the selection of new students. (2) In practice, liberalization in the selection of new students poses negative excess challenges: Increasing education funding by the poor; being stuck in the material-oriented corporate paradigm; Falling into the behavior of corruption, collusion, and nepotism. (3) Liberalization provides opportunities for progress for PTKIN to optimize the role of education financing by the community; The diversity of PTKIN student backgrounds; the Opportunity to build a humanist and fair PTKIN. Practically, the three points of the research findings imply that in implementing the new student recruitment policy, PTKIN can direct the policy to build PTKIN priorities that are humanist and just by avoiding the number of negative excesses that are not in line with PTKIN's ideology as a da'wah institution.

Abstract

Strategic planning for higher education is vital because it becomes a reference in determining the direction of policy and organizational performance. To win the competition in gaining the market, strategic planning activities become the spearhead in determining the strategy to achieve the appropriate institutional goals. However, the implementation of strategic planning at Islamic Religious Higher Education (PTKI) is often constrained because of the lack of understanding of the importance of these theories, so the implementation of strategic planning is often only intended for administrative requirements. Amid this condition, there is a phenomenon where some PTKIs are developing rapidly and transforming to be more market-oriented and to win the competition. These PTKIs are UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, IAIN Tulungagung, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, and Malang Islamic University. They have succeeded in creating effective strategies in organizational development until now they can become modern institutions and develop into multi-level organizations. The purpose of this study is to explore the five PTKI strategy models in Indonesia at the corporate and business unit levels based on Fred R. David's corporate-level strategy models, and Porter's generic strategy model theory Data were collected by qualitative methods through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results showed that at the corporate level, Fred R. David's strategy models applied by PTKI were vertical integration strategy, intensive strategy, and diversification strategy. In the defensive strategy, what is more, applied is the retrenchment strategy choice. However, at the business unit level, Porter's well-implemented strategy models are the cost leadership strategy, differentiation strategy, and focus strategy. These results have implications for the selection of business strategy models to be used in either profit-oriented or non-profit strategic planning activities in PTKI.

Abstract

This study examines the role of family education as a determinant of students' awareness in applying religious norms. The research is grounded in previous studies that highlight the significant influence of teacher-led education on students' adherence to religious norms. However, challenges persist in Islamic-based schools, such as SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Pagak, Malang Regency, where some students exhibit low awareness in practicing religious norms despite the school's strong emphasis on religious values. This study aims to confirm whether inadequate family education contributes to these challenges. The research employs a quantitative method with a survey approach. Primary data were collected through questionnaires, while secondary data were gathered through observations and interviews. The findings reveal a positive and significant influence of family education on students' application of religious norms, accounting for 44.9% of the variance. This indicates that higher levels of family education are associated with better adherence to religious norms among students. The study concludes that family education plays a crucial role in shaping students' awareness and application of religious norms. For Islamic educational institutions, addressing students' low awareness in applying religious norms may require collaboration with families to enhance the quality of family education.
