Abstract

Smoking is one of the health problems that is difficult to solve even has become a national and international problem. One of the negative effects of smoking is a decrease in HDL levels in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of HDL levels in active adult smokers aged 31-35 years in RT.04 / RW.01 Mlajah Bangkalan Village. This research is a descriptive study, with a research design using cross sectional design. The variable of this study is the level of HDL in active smokers with a population of 15 respondents selected as samples using total sampling. The data collection method uses a photometer, the data obtained are then presented in a frequency distribution table. The results of research on HDL levels of active smokers mostly low HDL levels less than 60 mg / dl with 11 respondents (73.33%) .This happens because the nicotine contained in cigarette smoke will stimulate the hormone adrenaline which will consequently interfere with fat metabolism which causes HDL levels in the body decrease. From the results of this study it is expected that a smoker should reduce smoking habits and better carry out regular health checks.

Abstract

Sweat consist of both water and electrolytes, including chloride ion, so if the excretion of water and electrolyte is not corrected can disturb the body’s homeostasis and health. This study aimed to determine the different of chloride ion (Cl-) levels in the blood of volleyball players Ngudia Husada Madura STIKes between before and after playing volleyball 2 sets and 5 sets. This study was a pre –experimental with one group pretest-posttest, with two variables, namely the duration of playing volleyball and the levels of chloride ion (Cl-), the volleyball player population was 12 respondents. The sampling method was purposive sampling to obtain a total sample of 12 respondents blood sampling was performed before and after playing volleyball 2 sets and 5 sets for examination of chloride (Cl-) ion levels. The results showed that before playing volleyball the average value of chloride ion (Cl-) was 99,27 mEq/l, , after playing volleyball 2 sets and 5 sets in a row had an average value of chloride ion (Cl-) 99,58 mEq/l, and 99,72 mEq/l, . The statistical test results showed p = 0.04. It was concluded that there were significant differences in the levels of chloride ions(Cl-) When playing volleyball, there is a lot of sweat coming out, accompanied by some electrolyte fluid in the body so that it is necessary to pay attention to fluid and electrolyte intake from outside.

This study used cross-sectional and observational design and involved 97 fishermen respondents selected through purposive sampling method. A standardized questionnaire was used to colled data, wich was then analysed descriptively and using the chi-square test to identify the relationship between variables with α = 0.05. The results showed that 30% of respondents have high knowledge, 45% were moderate, and 25% were low, the highest level of knowledge was in the moderate category, namely 45%. Factors that are proven to have a significant effect on the level of knowledge are education (p = 0.000), information (p = 0.014), information sources (p = 0.009), and the environment (p = 0.002). Meanwhile, age, experience, interest, and socio-cultural factors did not show a significant relationship (p > 0.05). This study confirms the importance of increasing education and access to accurate information to improve rational self-medication knowledge among fishermen. In addition, researchs are expected to look at factors that have not been studied, such as economic influences, or the availability of health facilities.
