Abstract

In the industrial era 4.0, the use of technology in the learning process is an important element. Teachers need to be more technologically in their teaching process since the use of technology has become a lifestyle. Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment which is considered effective as good medium in learning especially in English vocabulary. This article aims to explore the use of AR for young learners by comparing it with conventional paper flashcards. This method used quantitative research or more specifically quasi-experimental design at the second grade of Primary school in Padalarang. The data of the research was obtained from pre-test and post-test and it was analyzed by using SPSS 22 for windows. The results showed that both AR and conventional flashcard could significantly improve young learners’ vocabulary. However, the mean score of posttest in experimental class was 74.83 and 62.5 for control class. The data analysis revealed that the null hypothesis was rejected. In other word, the posttest score of experimental class was higher than control class. In summary, learning English vocabulary through augmented reality (AR) could improve students’ vocabulary mastery. It made young learners more engaged and excited to learn English vocabulary.

Abstract

English as a foreign language (EFL) students, regardless of their ability to speaking English, encounter significant speaking challenges. They lack motivation and confidence to speak English in online learning environment, which is particularly during a global pandemic. Therefore, the present study aims to analyse the implementation of dialogic feedback in online learning for the students speaking skills and investigate the students’responses to the implementation of dialogic feedback in teaching speaking. The respondents of this study were tenth-grade students attending a private senior high school in Bangka Belitung. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Interviews and observation were employed as instruments. The findings of this study indicated that the majority of students were engaged in online speaking classes toward implementing dialogic feedback; they were able to clarify their confusions from the teacher's feedback during presentations and they were able to improve their errors in some aspects of speaking skills, such as pronunciation and intonation when telling a story.  Most students in an online class showed positive attitude toward dialogic feedback. They revealed that dialogic feedback is necessary for learners to improve their speaking abilities and enabled them to gain new knowledge through communication and sharing of new vocabulary. However, a few of the students stated technical issues and poor internet connection on the internet could be impediments during the class session.Keywords: Dialogic feedback, speaking skills, students’ perception.

Abstract

Masyarakat Indonesia saat ini menyadari pentingnya menempuh pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi. Tingginya animo masyarakat ini dipengaruhi oleh semakin banyaknya program penyedia beasiswa magister dan doktor untuk putra putri terbaik Indonesia. Faktanya, kesempatan besar bagi putra putri terbaik bangsa masih saja dirasa tidak mudah. Selain persyaratan bahasa asing yang harus dikuasai, pendaftar program beasiswa dan kampus tujuan khususnya luar negeri mensyaratkan beberapa esai. Kebutuhan mempelajari cara penulisan esai yang baik untuk melengkapi syarat dalam mengikuti program perlu dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengasah kemampuan menulis tidak hanya akademik tetapi juga non akademik.  Dalam kegiatan ini, pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan melalui pendekatan sosio-karikatif dimana mitra dibantu untuk mendapatkan pelatihan menulis dan pendampingan serta dengan menggunakan pendekatan feedback agar mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis. Adapun kegiatan yang dilaksanakan adalah kegiatan workshop berupa pemaparan teori terkait esai deskriptif dan esai pribadi yang disampaikan oleh tim pengabdian masyarakat sebagai narasumber. Kemudian peserta diminta membuat esai sendiri sesuai dengan kisi-kisi esai. Esai yang telah disusun oleh peserta diserahkan kepada tim narasumber untuk selanjutnya dibahas mengenai kesesuaian isi dengan kisi-kisi dan hal-hal yang perlu ditambahkan pada esai. Kata kunci : Esai Deskriptif, Esai Pribadi, Beasiswa Studi Lanjut

Abstract

Di Desa Kadugenep, Kecamatan Petir, Kabupaten Serang, Provinsi Banten, diadakan diskusi dengan kepala desa dan anggota staf mengenai pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Tujuan diskusi yaitu meningkatkan potensi generasi muda dengan berbagi pengetahuan atau transfer pengetahuan tentang budaya digital. Ini akan mencakup peningkatan keterampilan dan pengetahuan melalui penggunaan teknologi informasi, seperti hardware dan software, dan menciptakan karya kreatif. Metode tatap muka dan diskusi aktif meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan. Hasil dari pengetahuan dan kemampuan Generasi Muda tentang cara menggunakan teknologi informasi, seperti hardware dan software, untuk membuat karya atau produk bernilai yang kreatif dan inovatif berbasis digital, melakukan manajemen pemasaran berbasis digital dan serta kemampuan berbahasa Inggris praktis.

Abstract

In the ever-evolving landscape of language education, technology propelled people toward new horizons, acting as the wind in their sails. Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) stood at the helm of this digital voyage, reshaping how people acquired languages. When setting these targets, the researcher focused on considering the quality requirements of mobile applications, taking into account the perspectives of both users and instructors. Therefore, the study aimed to analyze students' and teachers' perceptions of MALL integration in teaching-learning practice. For this study, the researcher chose a descriptive qualitative approach. The researcher used a questionnaire and an interview to collect both quantitative and qualitative data perspectives. The researcher quantitatively presented the percentage data of the questionnaire, and qualitatively, an analysis of interview responses was conducted, obtained from three classes and a teacher from one of the Private Junior High Schools in Jakarta. In a quantitative data perspective, students demonstrated favorable ratings on measures of usefulness, ease of use, and satisfaction when utilizing MALL (Mobile-Assisted Language Learning) in their English classrooms, as indicated by responses collected through Google Forms. From a qualitative perspective, both teachers and students concurred that MALL held the potential for enhancing both soft and hard skills. It fostered learning focus and independent study, offered convenience through its availability anytime and anywhere, optimized battery and data consumption, and facilitated communication between students and teachers. The result was an expressed desire to utilize MALL in the future.

Abstract

Desa wisata merupakan destinasi yang semakin populer dalam promosi pariwisata lokal. Dalam mengoptimalkan potensi desa wisata, penggunaan aplikasi berbasis Bahasa Inggris dapat menjadi salah satu solusi efektif. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan efektivitas penggunaan aplikasi Bahasa Inggris sebagai penunjang desa wisata. Kegiatan ini di adakan secara langsung untuk berinteraksi dengan warga di balai Desa Kadugenep, Serang. Di samping itu, kegiatan ini merupakan pengenalan teknologi berbasis aplikasi yang dapat memberikan wawasan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Bahasa Inggris secara signifikan meningkatkan aksesibilitas informasi bagi wisatawan internasional, memperkuat citra desa wisata, meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat lokal, dan pastinya memiliki dampak positif dalam upaya pemberdayaan dan peningkatan kapasitas pengelolaan desa, serta meningkatkan daya saing desa wisata secara global. Sehingga, aplikasi bahasa inggris dapat menjadi salah satu strategi efektif untuk mendukung pelestarian lingkungan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat secara holistik dalam memajukan desa wisata secara berkelanjutan

Abstract

The present education policy of the Indonesian government has implemented post-Covid-19 face-to-face (offline) learning at nearly all levels of education, excluding primary school. This encouraged teachers to adjust teaching and learning to boost engagement in class. Educators must be able to facilitate engaging, dynamic, and fruitful learning by integrating meaningful learning technology models in to classroom. The purpose of this paper is to portray elementary school teachers' implementation of programs that promote competence of relevant offline learning. Guidance offered by the Community Service Lecturer Team (PKM) during three sessions: introduction, application, and practice. As a result of this commitment, subject teachers at SDIT have access to a variety of interactive, relevant, and enjoyable learning experiences through the use of authentic sources obtained from websites and applications that can be utilized in the classroom, therefore, allow learners to acquire the learning competencies.

Abstract

Mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam pendidikan telah menjadi elemen penting dalam membekali siswa menghadapi masa depan. Namun demikian, beberapa guru menghadapi tantangan dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, termasuk kurangnya pelatihan dan pendidikan, terbatasnya waktu dan persiapan, kurangnya kemahiran teknis, dan materi yang tidak memadai. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meminimalkan kesenjangan literasi teknologi di SD Pusaka Rakyat 02 dengan mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam beberapa topik secara efektif. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam tiga tahap: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan penilaian. Hasil penilaian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini efektif meningkatkan pemahaman dan kemahiran guru dalam literasi teknis di era digital. Praktik ini selaras dengan kebutuhan dan harapan guru serta secara efektif memotivasi mereka untuk menggunakan teknologi pembelajaran dalam pengajaran mereka. Pada akhirnya, inisiatif pengabdian masyarakat ini berfungsi sebagai sarana yang ampuh untuk meningkatkan literasi teknologi kepada guru, sehingga mampu memperkuat standar pendidikan secara keseluruhan di sekolah dasar. Integrating technology into education has emerged as a vital element in equipping students for the future. Nevertheless, several teachers encounter obstacles when it comes to integrating technology into the teaching and learning process, including insufficient training and education, limited time and preparation, lack of technical proficiency, and inadequate materials. The objective of this community service initiative is to minimize the technological literacy gap at Pusaka Rakyat 02 Elementary School by effectively integrating technology into several topics. The activity was conducted in three distinct phases: preparation, implementation, and assessment. The assessment results indicate that this community service activity effectively enhanced teachers' comprehension and proficiency in technical literacy within the digital age. This practice aligns with teacher needs and expectations and effectively motivates them to use learning technology into their teaching. Ultimately, this community service initiative serves as a potent means to enhance teachers' technology literacy, therefore, it enables to bolster the overall standard of education in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to increase students' grade 9 student’s self-confidence in speaking English at one Junior High School in Jakarta. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which aims to solve the problem of students' lack of self-confidence in speaking English. This classroom action research uses the Kurt Lewin model. This study was conducted in 2 cycles where each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. In obtaining data, the researcher used qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained through observation, while quantitative data were obtained through tests (pre-test and post-test). The results of this study found that the use of the role-play method had been successful with the criteria that 75% of students achieved the target score ≥ 75 based on the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM). The results obtained through the test showed that 80% of students had achieved the target minimum competency criteria score. In addition, the second criterion is that students become more active during the teaching and learning process, so the results of the observation show that by using the role-play method, students become more active and also confident in speaking English.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to family communication patterns, particularly between parents and children. On one hand, technology facilitates access to information and communication; on the other hand, it can hinder healthy emotional interaction if not managed wisely. This community service activity was conducted in RW 11, Pejuang Subdistrict, Bekasi, with the aim of enhancing parents' understanding and skills in establishing effective communication with their children amidst the challenges of the digital era. The methods employed included socialization sessions, interactive discussions, and positive communication simulations. The results of the activity indicated an increase in parents’ awareness of the importance of guiding their children in the use of technology and the need to build open and empathetic two-way communication. The program received positive responses from the community and opened opportunities for further initiatives, such as the establishment of a digital parenting learning community.
