Abstract

Abstract

Stunting affects approximately 22.3% of children under five globally, with higher prevalence in low- and middle-income countries. While family nursing interventions may play a crucial role in preventing stunting through improved self-care practices, comprehensive evidence synthesis is lacking. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of family nursing care interventions in improving self-care practices related to stunting prevention, identify successful strategies, analyze outcomes, and provide evidence-based recommendations for healthcare practitioners.Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we systematically searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, CINAHL, and Science Direct for studies published between 2019 and 2024. Two independent reviewers assessed methodological quality using standardized tools. Data were synthesized narratively due to intervention heterogeneity. Twenty-five studies met inclusion criteria, including mixed-methods, quantitative observational, randomized controlled trials, and qualitative studies. Family nursing interventions improved health literacy (35.4% increase) and growth monitoring compliance (68.5% increase). Culturally adapted educational approaches and home-based support showed the most substantial evidence for effectiveness. Stunting prevalence decreased by 17.5% among intervention groups, with improved height-for-age Z-scores (mean improvement: 0.45 SD). Success factors included cultural competency, regular supervision, and clear intervention protocols. Conclusion: Family nursing interventions effectively improve self-care practices and contribute to stunting prevention when incorporating cultural adaptation, regular monitoring, and integrated community support. Future research should focus on long-term outcomes and standardized measurement tools across diverse settings.

The objectives of nursing care standards are: improving the quality of nursing care, reducing care costs, protecting nurses from negligence in carrying out their duties and protecting patients from non-therapeutic actions. The research method that the researcher used cross-sectional with independent and dependent variables conducted at the same time. This study used instruments in the form of checklist and closed questionnaire. The results showed that 0 respondents' knowledge of nursing care standards was classified as low, 5 (16%) were classified as moderate, and 30 (94%) were classified as high. The conclusion is that the majority of nurses' knowledge of Nursing Care Standards in the inpatient ward of Tanjung Buntung Health Center is in the high category, which is 94%.

Abstract

Blood glucose is a sugar found in the blood formed from carbohydrates in food and stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. Insulin and glucagon, two hormones derived from the pancreas, can affect blood glucose levels. Insulin is needed for the permeability of cell membranes to glucose and for the transport of glucose into cells. The purpose of the Community Service program is to conduct random blood sugar, uric acid and cholesterol level checks. The methods used in Community Service activities are socialization and health education and examination of glucose, uric acid and cholesterol levels in the implementation of community health identification. The results of the implementation of the uric acid, blood sugar and cholesterol level checks carried out in the community went well and understood the importance of regular and regular blood pressure and uric acid checks. The conclusion is that the Community Service program was successful and successfully implemented and was able to increase public understanding of the importance of early detection. The community response that was carried out in participating in the activities was quite good. Public knowledge about Glucose, Uric Acid and Cholesterol Levels and their prevention showed a remarkable increase.

Abstract

Chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are a growing health problem in Batam City. Lack of public awareness regarding early detection, unhealthy lifestyles, and limited access to health information are major risk factors. This community service activity aims to provide nursing education as a promotive and preventive strategy for preventing and controlling chronic diseases. The methods used included health education, demonstrations of healthy lifestyle practices, and basic health examinations (blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index). The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge regarding risk factors for chronic diseases and strategies for controlling them. Nursing education has proven effective in increasing public awareness in Batam to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, including in Batam City, which is characterized by rapid population growth and urbanization. This condition not only hampers children’s physical growth but also affects their cognitive development and long-term productivity. This study aims to design and implement a community-based intervention model for the prevention of stunting among children aged 0–59 months in Batam. A mixed methods design with an exploratory-sequential approach was employed. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with health workers, posyandu cadres, and parents, while quantitative data were obtained from questionnaires distributed to 150 mothers of toddlers. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using correlation tests, logistic regression, and thematic triangulation. The findings revealed that the main determinants of stunting in Batam include mothers’ limited knowledge of nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding, substandard quality of complementary feeding, restricted access to health services, and poor environmental sanitation. In response, a community-based stunting prevention model was developed consisting of four integrated components: (1) nutrition education for mothers through kelas balita (toddler classes), (2) strengthening posyandu capacity through cadre training and provision of growth monitoring tools, (3) promotion of local food utilization in complementary feeding, and (4) multi-sector collaboration among health workers, local government, and community stakeholders. The study concludes that the proposed model effectively enhances mothers’ nutritional knowledge, improves child feeding practices, and fosters sustainable community participation in stunting prevention. This model provides a practically applicable framework that can be integrated into local public health programs as a sustainable and scalable strategy to accelerate stunting reduction in urban settings like Batam.
