Abstract

Background: Chicken pox is the primary acute infectious disease caused by the Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) which attacks skin and mucosa accompanied by polymorphic skin disorders, mainly located in the central part of the body. Case: an 8- years-old woman came to the Dental Hospital, Jember University complaining about pain felt on the upper lip when used for eating for 7 days. The patient also had a fever and fluid-filled lumps appear in both hands and back since about 6 days ago. Clinical overview of the upper lip show erosion, irregular shape, clear borders, red, moist lesions, rough surfaces and pain. In both hands there are lesions in the formof erosion,the base is red,moist and the boundaryis clear. Management: Therapy applied to patients i.e. Aloclair gel as a topical analgesic medicine and moisturizer, Acyclovir tablet as an antiviral agent, paracetamol syrup as an antipyretic and multivitamin B complex as supporting therapy. Discussion: Chicken pox is a disease that can heal itself, but to speed up healing process and to reduce discomfort due to the symptoms that appear, causative and supportive cares are necessary. Conclusions: Management of a chicken pox patient aged 8 years old is conducted by providing Aloclair oral gel, Acyclovir tablets, paracetamol syrup and multivitamin of vitamin B complex and zinc to support healing process, and instruct the patient to avoid direct contact with other people.

Abstract

Ritual Ider Bumi one of existing ceremony ritual society of Using Banyuwangi, as statement or expression thank goodness for blessing which have been accepted to the countryside security during one year. Society Using is original society Banyuwangi, (those who do not want to coexist with the society urban). Society Using in Ke- miren village, its confidence embrace the Islam, but also still run the culture which inherit from its ancestor. Religion and cultural walk along, till able to form the ceremony ritual like that ceremony of ritual Ider Bumi executed in each feast day of Ramadan Idul Fitri.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the nutrition problems that a still concern throughout in the world. Indonesia is the third country which highest prevalence of stunting in the Southeast Asia. In East Java, one of priority districts for handling stunting is Bondowoso Regency. Pujer disrict was sub-district with the highest prevalenced of stunting in Bondowoso Regency on 2020. The prevalenced of stunting in August 2018 was 25.36%, in February 2019 of 24.70%, in August 2019 of 26.73%, and in February 2020 it was 27.66%. This research purpose to know determinants of stunting on age toddler  24 - 59 mount in Pujer Distric,Bondowoso Regency. The research method uses an observational analytic with a cross sectional design. The research sample was 84 toddlers aged 24-59 months. The sampling technique using simple random sampling. The data collection technique using quetionnarie with interwieving on monher’s toddler and the data were analyzed using the chi-square test with a significance of p <0.05. The results univariate analysis was coulded most of the toddler were not stunting at 67.9% and the toddler were stunting at 32.1%. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was no relationship between energy consumption (0.053), protein consumption (0.456), infectious diseases (0.771), history of BBLR (0.381), and exclusive breastfeeding (0.739) with the incidence of stunting in toddler in Pujer District, Bondowoso Regency.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the learning strategies used by students in LC (Language Center), Kampung Inggris Pare, Kediri. The research question is what the learning strategies used by students in the intensive 2-week program in LC Course, Kampung Inggris Pare, Kediri? There are some aspects that should be considered in learning to speak. It includes fluency, pronunciation, grammar, accuracy, and appropriateness’. The subject of this research is B6 class students who were in the intensive 2-week program in LC which consist of 7 students. This research used a descriptive qualitative method and used two data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires and documentation. The findings of this research revealed there are six strategies that were used by students when learning speaking English and the researcher concludes that the social strategy is mostly used by students with a total of 46,67%. The conclusion of this research that the social strategy is commonly used by students because they prefer to involve other people in their learning. The researcher suggests to the next researcher can further develop the theories and findings found in this study and also hopes the students can know what their correct learning strategies are to support their learning.

Abstract

The prevalence of knee osteoarthritis has increased significantly over recent decades. Osteoarthritis causes pain, swelling, stiffness, loss of function, and decreased quality of life (QoL). Although evidence suggests that increased BMI contributes to both the development and severity of knee OA, research examining the relationship between BMI, OA stage, and the degree of knee pain remains limited, highlighting the need for further investigation. This study aims to determine the relationship between BMI, the stage of knee osteoarthritis, and the degree of pain in patients with knee OA. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design, utilizing secondary data (patient medical records). We conducted sample selection using purposive sampling. Data analysis: descriptive analysis, Chi-Square test, and logistic regression. A total of 101 respondents participated in the study, with the majority had a normal BMI (52.5%), had mild-to-moderate knee OA (56.4%), and reported mild pain (52.5%). There was a significant relationship between BMI and the stage of knee osteoarthritis with the degree of pain (p-value <0.05), with odds ratios (OR) for BMI and OA stage at 3.93 and 3.96, respectively. This indicates that higher BMI and more advanced OA stage are associated with a greater degree of knee pain in patients. Weight loss is an effective strategy to reduce mechanical stress on joints and decrease inflammatory mediators, thereby lowering chronic inflammation and alleviating pain. Further research on effective management strategies for knee OA is essential to help reduce the disease burden and improve the QoL of knee OA patients.

Abstract

AbstractThe dance piece titled Penyandar is a new creative work. This dance piece draws inspiration from the personalexperiences of the choreographer during her time as a Pregina Telek/Sandar at Pura Dalem Padonan in the village ofPererenan. This work transforms the stages undergone by the Pregina Telek/Sandar. Penyandar comes from the wordSandar, which is another term for Tari Telek, which then received the prefix “Pe-” referring to the performer of theTelek/Sandar dance itself. This dance has a religious theme and is performed in groups using seven male dancers. Themethod used is the Angripta Sesolahan creation method (creating dances), which involves planning, conceptualizing,designing, refining, and finalizing. The accompanying music for the Sandar dance uses the Musical Instrument DigitalInterface (MIDI) application as its medium, utilizing samples from the Semara Pegulingan Saih Pitu gamelan ensemble,which lasts 11 minutes.Keywords: Penyandar, religion, New creation.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of integrating the Mind Mapping model through the Canva application in improving students’ recount text writing skills at SMKN 1 Kediri. Writing recount texts plays a vital role in language learning, as it enables students to narrate personal experiences in a structured and chronological way. However, many vocational students struggle with limited vocabulary, poor text organization, and low confidence in writing. To address these issues, this research employed a quasi-experimental design using pre-test and post-test methods in two eleventh-grade classes. One class was taught recount writing using manual mind mapping, while the other applied Canva-based digital mind mapping. Students’ works were assessed using the COVLM rubric (Content, Organization, Vocabulary, Language, and Mechanics), and the data were analyzed through t-tests and N-Gain. The findings indicate that although both groups improved, the Canva-based group showed significantly higher gains in organization, engagement, and writing quality. Students also demonstrated greater enthusiasm and confidence when using digital tools. The study concludes that Canva-based mind mapping is more effective than manual techniques in enhancing recount writing skills and can serve as an innovative strategy for EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of Flipped Classroom Model in enhancing junior high school students' reading comprehension. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study is eighth grade of SMPN 1 Tarokan with a sample of two classes with a total of 64 students selected using purposive sampling technique. The experimental class used the Flipped Classroom Model, while the control class used traditional learning methods. The data were collected through multiple-choice tests given before and after the treatment. The results of data analysis showed a significant improvement in reading comprehension scores in the experimental class compared to the control class. The results of this research indicate that the Flipped Classroom model is effective in improving students' reading comprehension, especially in narrative texts. In addition, this model is also able to increase student engagement in the learning process. This study concludes that the Flipped Classroom Model is an innovative technology-based learning model that can be adopted in reading comprehension teaching at the junior high school level. This model is relevant to be applied in the context of modern education that requires technology integration to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

eading comprehension is a critical skill in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning. However, many Indonesian junior high school students face persistent challenges in this area, primarily due to low motivation, lack of engagement, and the continued use of conventional instructional methods. These issues underscore the need for innovative pedagogical strategies that align with learners’ interests and digital habits. This study investigates the effect of digital gamification on students’ reading comprehension using a narrative-based video game titled “I Got This: An Interactive Story” as a digital medium in the learning process. The gamification was implemented without the use of specialized platforms, as game elements were manually integrated by the researcher. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 60 eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Tarokan, who were assigned to the experiment group and control group through purposive sampling. The experiment group received instruction through a gamified video game incorporating points, levels, leaderboards, badges, and rewards, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Both groups completed a pre-test and post-test consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions based on narrative texts. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test due to non-normal distribution. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.002), with the experimental group demonstrating greater improvement in reading comprehension. These findings highlight the pedagogical value of narrative-driven digital gamification and offer implications for educators and curriculum designers seeking to modernize reading instruction in alignment with the digital habits of 21st-century learners.

Abstract

Abstrak Karya Tari Sona adalah karya yang mengambil sumber kreatif dari epos mahabharata bagian terakhir yaitu kesetiaan seekor anjing (Asu) kepada yudhistira yang terkandung dalam buku swargarohanaparwa. Dalam penciptaan karya Tari Sona ini pencipta jadikan kesetiaan seekor anjing kepada tuanya sebagai pemantik ide koreografi. Sona dalam bahasa jawa kuna yang artinya anjing, judul ini menjelaskan karakter seekor anjing yang setia kepada manusia. Pada proes penciptaanya, pencipta bekerja sama dengan Sanggar Seni Dharmawangsa dalam program Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka dengan mengambil program studi proyek independen. Penciptaan Karya Tari Sona menggunakan metode Alma M. Hawkins terjemahan I wayan Dibia pada tahun 2003. Di dalam buku tersebut dijelaskan tiga tahapan penciptaan antara lain Tahap Penjajagan (eksplorasi), Tahap Percobaan (improvisasi), danTahap Pembentukan (forming). Karya Tari Sona merupakan tari kontemporer yang dibawakan secara kelompok dengan struktur tarianya terdiri dari tiga bagian yang berdurasi 12 menit. Musik karya tari ini menggunakan instrumen Logic Pro Digital seperti marimba, stringquartet, syntizer, drum pad, drum synth kit, bass, cymbal. Tata rias yang digunakan dalam karya tari ini memilih bentuk wajah anjing yang dipadukan dengan kostum bernuansa hitam yang terdiri dari strait stoking full body, kalung dan hiasan kepala yaitu rambut gimbal. Pencipta berharap nillai-nilai yang terkandung dalam garapan ini dapat diimplementasikan ke pribadi dan masyarakat untuk selalu menanamkan rasa kesetiaan sesama mahkluk hidup dan sekitarnya.
