Abstract

The Healthy School Activation program was designed to address the growing concerns of sedentary lifestyles, limited health knowledge, and low physical activity among elementary school students. It seeks to cultivate healthier behaviors, improve learning focus, and promote a collaborative school culture involving students, teachers, and parents. This qualitative study involved 120 fifth grade students from two elementary schools in Muara Bulian, divided into intervention and control groups. Ten teachers participated as key informants. Data collection methods included questionnaires, anthropometric assessments, and semi-structured interviews. The intervention led to a 35% increase in students' physical activity levels and improved health knowledge from 40% to 85%. A notable reduction in body mass index was observed among overweight students. Positive shifts were also reported in students’ attitudes toward physical activity, accompanied by enhanced focus and peer interaction in the classroom. Findings suggest that the program is effective in promoting active and healthy lifestyles among elementary students. The program adopts a collaborative strategy involving educators and families, providing a feasible model for promoting active lifestyles and fostering a supportive, health oriented school culture that can be implemented broadly and sustainably.

Abstract

Effective education at the primary school level requires developing students' collaboration skills in an appropriate learning environment. However, there are still challenges in creating an environment that encourages student collaboration and improves their achievement. This study aims to develop flashcard learning media in the context of game-based volleyball learning with the aim of improving students' collaboration skills and achievement. The current development research (R&D) involved the stages of needs analysis, flashcard media design, media development, implementation in the learning environment, and evaluation of students at the elementary school level. The population of this study was 4th and 5th-grade elementary school students who received game-based volleyball learning. Based on the findings of the media expert validation test (83%; very valid) and the material expert test (87%; very valid), the results demonstrated that the development of flashcard learning media in the context of game-based volleyball learning was legitimate. Furthermore, with a significance level of 0.000<0.05, the paired sample t-test findings for student collaboration skills indicated a statistically significant relationship. Students' collaboration and academic performance can be enhanced by including flashcards as instructional media in a volleyball learning game.

Abstract

This study is a literature review aimed at understanding the contribution of physical education teachers in shaping students' character. The method used in this research is a literature review, with research sources obtained from various references such as journals, books, documentation, the internet, libraries, and other relevant sources. The data collection technique for this literature review involved gathering various references and citations relevant to the research topic, utilizing the Google Scholar database by entering the keyword “contribution of physical education teachers in building student character.” The database search yielded 10 articles published between 2016 and 2022 that are relevant to the focus of this study. The findings indicate that physical education plays a significant role in shaping and instilling character in students. It can be concluded that the contribution of physical education teachers is currently at a moderate level in the process of character development in students. Therefore, it is expected that physical education teachers will further enhance their contributions to the implementation of character education.
