Abstract

Kenikir leaves (Cosmos caudatus Kunth) is a plant that is used as a vegetable and ornamental plant. Kenikirleaves contain flavonoid, phenol, diterpene, and ascorbic acid phytochemicals. The phytochemical content of kenikir leaves has antioxidant activity. The preparation widely used in applying antioxidants is lotion because of its easy use. This study aims to formulate a lotion from the purified extract of kenikir leaves by varying the extract 0.1%, 0.25% and 0.5%. The lotion base used was VCO, Tween 80, PEG 400, Aquadest. The physical characteristics evaluated were organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, and emulsion type. From the results test, purified extract lotion of kenikir leaves gave a green color, characteristic smell of the extract, homogeneous, pH value according to lotion requirements, dispersion according to the standard range of 5-7cm, emulsion type of lotion oil in water.

Abstract

Secondary metabolite compounds that have potential as sunscreens are flavonoids with chromophore groups. Flavonoid compounds are found in the matoa plant (Pometia pinnata). This study aimed to determine the possibility of matoa extract sunscreen with various solvent concentrations. Variations in the concentration of ethanol used were 50%, 70% and 96% ethanol. Matoa leaf simplicia was macerated with each solvent for 3×24 hours. Then the macerate was concentrated using a rotary evaporator. The viscous extract was tested for flavonoid qualitative using the staining method and tested for sunscreen potency using UV-Vis spectrophotometry with absorbance readings at a 290-320 nm wavelength. The potential for sunscreen in the form of an spf value is calculated using the Mansur equation. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of matoa leaves contained flavonoid. Matoa leaf extract has sunscreen potential. The highest SPF value in the extract with 70% ethanol solvent provides ultra protection value.

Abstract

Essential oil of Cinnamomum burmannii contains cinnamaldehyde as active substance as antibacterial and repellant. The study about development of dosage forms was needed in order be useful to people. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration’s effect of cinnamon to the physical characteristic and results hedonic test of lotion. This study was done in Laboratory of Pharmacy UAD in 2014 that was begun with distillation of essential oil. Then, it was formulated as lotion with concentration 1% (F1), 3% (F II), 5% (F III), 7% (F IV), respectively. The lotion was evaluated its physical characteristic (homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, adhesivity, pH) and hedonic test to know the level of acceptability based on colour and flavor of lotion. Data was collected by quistionnaire. Results of study showed that all of the lotion was homogenous. The increasing concentrations of cinnamon caused decreasing of viscosity (p <0.05) and adhesivity (P <0.05), an increasing of spreadability (P <0.05), did not affect the pH value (p> 0.05), and increasing hedonic level until 5% concentration. It can be concluded that concentration of essential oil of cinnamon at 5% fullfilled the requirement of spreadability, adhesivity, pH and the most prefered by consumers.

Abstract

Sebanyak 75% wanita Indonesia pernah menggunakan cairan sabun pembersih vagina yang telah menjadi bagian dari personal higienis dan dilakukan secara rutin. Pengetahuan remaja putri tentang pemakaian sabun pembersih kewanitaan dalam jangka waktu panjang akan timbul pengikisan bakteri baik dan mengakibatkan infeksi genetalia interna maupun eksterna dari keputihan patologis sampai kanker serviks. Tujuan kegiatan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk mensosialisasikan cara penggunaan produk pembersih kewanitaan yang baik dan benar, serta mensosialisasikan cara pembuatan cairan pembersih kewanitaan alami, pada Ibu-ibu majelis taklim Masjid Saiful Islam Kota Pontianak. Metode Pengabdian ini yaitu penyuluhan secara langsung. Hasil pengabdian ini yaitu Tingkat pengetahuan Ibu-ibu majelis taklim masjid Saiful Islam tentang pemakaian sabun pembersih kewanitaan setelah mengikuti penyuluhan menjadi bertambah dan lebih memahami pentingnya menjaga dan merawat kebersihan organ kewanitaan.

Abstract

Tumbuhan pandan hutan yang terdapat di gunung Passi Singkawang dengan spesies Freycinetia sessiliflora Rizki belum banyak diteliti terutama kandungan senyawa kimianya. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah fraksinasi dan identifikasi senyawa tanin ekstrak etanol pandan hutan Freycinetia sessiliflora Rizki. Metode fraksinasi yang digunakan adalah kromatografi lapis tipis yang dilanjutkan dengan kromatografi kolom. Skrining fitokimia menggunakan pereaksi FeCl3 serta analisis menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Hasil pemisahan dengan metode kromatografi lapis tipis dan kromatografi kolom menggunakan eluen kloroform: methanol: air (7:3:0,4) dengan nilai Rf 0,25-0,77. Analisis panjang gelombang menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis menunjukan senyawa tanin dengan panjang gelombang maksimum 734,1 nm.

Abstract

Pengembangan sediaan kosmetik serum yang mengandung bahan alam antioksidan semakin meningkat pesat seiring dengan eksplorasi tanaman yang berpotensi farmakologis. Salah satu bahan alam yang mengandung antioksidan yaitu tanaman tampoi (Baccaurea macrocarpa). Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang optimasi natrosol sebagai basis gel. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah optimasi basis gel sediaan serum kulit buah tampoi. Optimasi basis serum dengan basis gelling agent dan diperoleh satu formula basis terpilih, yaitu Natrosol® 0,50%. Evaluasi meliputi pemeriksaan organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa variasi gelling agent berpengaruh terhadap viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa gelling agent yang paling baik untuk sediaan ekstrak etanol kulit buah tampoi adalah Natrosol® 0.50% karena memiliki viskositas, daya lekat, dan daya sebar yang baik.

Abstract

The study aims to identify the most responsible compound for the antiinflammation activity from Mitragyna speciosa leaves. Seventeen compounds previously reported to have been isolated from the leave were virtually screened against human 5-lipoxygenase protein and analyzed according to their binding energies. The native ligand used was arachidonic acid, and mitragynine was found to be the strongest binding compound (Pubchem ID: 3034396). In addition, ADMET profiling shows that mitragynine was not violating Lipinski’s rule of five and was not toxic.

Abstract

Antibacterial is a substance that can inhibit the growth of bacteria and can kill bacteria that cause infection. Currently increasing resistance to antibiotics is an opportunity to utilize bioactive compounds from the diversity of plants in Indonesia, one of which is by utilizing Pontianak orange peels. Based on some literature, it is stated that essential oils from Pontianak orange peels can inhibit the growth of several types of bacteria. In this study, antibacterial tests were carried out on S.aureus and S.mutans bacteria. The essential oil of Pontianak orange peel was first tested for phytochemical screening and then an antibacterial test was carried out with several concentrations of 5%, 10%, 25%, and 50%, the antibacterial activity test was carried out using the disc diffusion method. The results of the phytochemical screening test showed that the essential oil of Pontianak orange peel contains flavonoids, saponins, and terpenoids. Furthermore, in testing the S.aerues bacteria, the essential oil of orange peel can have an inhibition zone with a range of 9-11 mm which is included in the strong antibacterial category, while in testing the inhibition of S. mutans bacteria, it is included in the moderate category, namely in the range of 7-10 mm. In the statistical test, there was no significant difference in the inhibition of S. mutans and S.aereus bacteria in inhibiting the growth of the orange peel essential oil as indicated by the diameter of the inhibition zone in the different treatment groups according to the concentration of orange peel essential oil.

Abstract

Papaya Fruit (Carica papaya L.) contains nutritious properties such as sucros, which can bu used as a moisturizer so that it can be used as a mud mask. Mud masks are one type of mask that is in demand. The main factor in the formation of sludge is clay minerals, for example, kaolin. Clay is clay formed from weathering aid granite that can harden and form a mass of solids along with the loss of water due to evaporation. This study aims to look at the effect of using kaolin base as a mud base on the physical properties of mud mask preparations. In this study, papaya ingredient of 10% each in each formula. Kaolin used as a base has a variety of concentration in each formula that is 40% (FI), 50% (FII) and 55% (FIII). The preparation of each formula was tested including organoleptic test, pH test and dispersion test. The test results show that all formulas meet the physical properties requierements including organoleptic test, pH test and dispersion test.

Abstract

Matoa (Pometia pinnata J.R. Forst. & G. Forst.), a plant of the Sapindaceae family, has been widely used as traditional medicine by specific ethnic communities. Matoa leaves have pharmacological activities such as anti-diabetic, antibacterial and antioxidant. This study aims to determine the chemical content of various solvent concentrations. The solvents used in this study were ethanol 50%, ethanol 70% and ethanol 96%. The method used is a qualitative method with a colouring test. The results showed that 50% and 70% ethanolic matoa leaf extract contained flavonoids and tannins. Matoa leaf extract with 96% ethanol solvent contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, tannins and saponins.
