Abstract

Stunting risks children's physical, mental, and cognitive development, leading to long-term impairments, significantly affecting their overall growth, learning abilities, and future potential. Online puzzle games allow children to practice concentration and hand-eye coordination through interactive challenges that stimulate children's creativity and memory. This study aims to assess the effect of educational online puzzle games on the development of preschool children with stunting symptoms. A pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach was used, involving 52 children aged 3-6 years diagnosed with stunting symptoms. The children's development was measured using the Denver II screening tool. Data were processed using editing, coding, scoring, and tabulation, followed by crosstab statistical analysis. The results showed that 50% of respondents had abnormal development before playing the online puzzle game, while 65.4% had normal development afterwards. A significant improvement was observed, as indicated by the rejection of H0, suggesting that online puzzle games positively affect the development of preschool children with stunting symptoms. The study concludes that online puzzle games can stimulate the development of children with stunting symptoms. It is recommended that families regularly provide educational games to enhance the development of children affected by stunting symptoms. Future research should consider larger sample sizes and explore the long-term effects of such interventions.

Abstract

Children with autism often experience significant communication difficulties due to delayed or absent language development, which hampers their social interactions. One factor influencing communication development is the parenting style applied by parents. This study aims to identify the relationship between democratic parenting styles and language skills in children with autism at SLB Putra Harapan Perak, Bojonegoro Regency, in 2023. The research design used is a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study consists of all autistic students enrolled at SLB Putra Harapan Perak, with a total sample of 14 respondents using total sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, and data analysis was conducted using estimation curves. The results showed that the majority of respondents with non-democratic parenting styles also faced language difficulties, with 6 respondents (66.7%) showing language issues. These findings indicate that democratic parenting styles positively affect language skills in children with autism. The more democratic the parenting style, the less likely the child is to experience language difficulties. This study suggests that parents of children with autism adopt democratic parenting styles to support the development of their language skills.

Abstract

Abstract

Teaching language to students with special needs presents unique challenges, requiring tailored strategies to address diverse learning abilities and disabilities. Despite the growing emphasis on inclusive education, there is limited research on effective language teaching methods for this population. This study explores strategies for teaching language to students with special needs, focusing on their impact on language acquisition and engagement. The research aims to identify and evaluate effective strategies for teaching language to students with special needs, focusing on their impact on language proficiency, engagement, and inclusivity. It seeks to provide practical recommendations for educators to create supportive and effective learning environments. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving 50 students with special needs and their teachers. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and pre- and post-tests to measure language proficiency. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using statistical software. The findings revealed that multisensory approaches, visual aids, and individualized instruction significantly improved language proficiency and engagement among students with special needs. Teachers reported that these strategies enhanced students' confidence and participation. However, challenges such as resource limitations and lack of training were also identified. Tailored strategies, such as multisensory approaches and individualized instruction, are effective in teaching language to students with special needs. Educators should prioritize inclusive practices and professional development to address challenges and enhance language learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

Early childhood mental health problems are increasingly receiving attention in various countries, because they have a significant impact on children's future cognitive, social and emotional development. Early childhood is very sensitive to environmental stimulation, both positive and negative (Raver, 2002). Various studies show that mental health disorders in early childhood, such as anxiety, stress, and behavioral problems, can have long-term impacts on children's psychological development, both academically and socially. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between the role of teachers and the mental health of early childhood in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions. The method used is a quantitative descriptive method. This research involved 30 PAUD children in Lamongan who were selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used include a Likert scale-based questionnaire to measure the teacher's role, as well as the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) to assess children's mental health. The research results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between the role of teachers and children's mental health with a correlation value of 0.425 (p < 0.05), indicating that the active role of teachers in providing emotional support influences children's emotional stability and social skills. In addition, it was found that 66.67% of teachers were effective in supporting children's mental health
