Abstract

This study described the diversity of higher order thinking skills in the evaluation instrument for Pancasila Education textbooks in universities and analyzed the level of conformity of higher order thinking skills in the evaluation instrument for Pancasila Education textbooks in universities. This study used a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research. Data were collected utilizing observation and document study. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive, interpretive techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The study results indicated that the evaluation instrument in the Pancasila Education textbook contained all the criteria for higher-order thinking skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and creative thinking. However, the evaluation instrument in the Pancasila Education textbook, which contained criteria for higher-order thinking skills, was only 36 out of 78 items. Therefore, the Pancasila Education textbook needed to be revised again because the number of analyzing levels was more dominant than evaluating and creating. In addition, the cognitive domain in the Pancasila Education textbook was out of tune with the National Higher Education Standards guidelines.

Abstract

This community service program in Ngroto Village, Pujon District, Malang Regency aims to increase community understanding and skills in formulating rules for participating villages. This activity was launched to follow up on the results of a previous study on the obstacles to village code formation. In principle, the formation of a village order in Ngroto Village follows the path specified in Permendagri No. 111 of 2014 from the Technical Guidelines for the Village Law, however, sometimes the process of forming the village order encounters obstacles. The obstacles that arise are: (1) the identification of opportunities and problems as outlined in the draft village regulations is not precise, detailed and complete; (2) lack of direct participation from some communities in drafting village regulations; (3) the process of drafting village regulations took longer during the Covid-19 pandemic; (4) lack of socialization and knowledge of village officials' projects; and (5) the lack of dissemination of village regulations which were transferred to the RT/RW level. This non-profit activity is carried out through advocacy and facilitation methods. Finally, an ideal village can be created through optimal community participation in the village development process, where the village government leadership responds to the wishes and aspirations of the village community.

Abstract

The implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in higher education learning materials has become increasingly crucial in preparing students for complex real-world challenges. This study examines the HOTS components in the evaluation instruments of the 2016 Civics Education textbook published by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology. The research specifically focuses on analyzing thinking levels based on Bloom's taxonomy, including analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) capabilities. This descriptive qualitative research employed a systematic literature study method. The data collection involved comprehensive analysis of evaluation instruments from each chapter of the textbook, using predetermined HOTS criteria and indicators. The analysis process included content analysis, categorization, and verification of thinking skill levels. The findings reveal varied distribution of HOTS components in the evaluation instruments: critical thinking (35.6%), creative thinking (11.8%), problem-solving (28.7%), and decision-making (25.3%). Furthermore, the analysis of thinking levels showed the following distribution: C4 (41.4%), C5 (19.5%), and C6 (38%). These results indicate a need for more balanced distribution of HOTS components, particularly in strengthening creative thinking and evaluative abilities in the textbook's evaluation instruments.

Abstract

So far, religious tolerance in the mass media has never been studied using metaphors in a cognitive linguistic approach. In fact, through conceptual metaphors, the framing of the mass media will emerge on the issue of religious tolerance. This qualitative descriptive research collects data on news and articles about religious tolerance in online Islamic mass media during the period 2018–2023. Data were analyzed using metaphor identification procedure, conceptual metaphor theory, and mixed metaphor. The results of the study show that there are 9 source domains, namely 1) TOLERANCE IS CLOTHES, (2) TOLERANCE IS SPACES/BUILDINGS, (3) TOLERANCE IS HUMANS, (4) TOLERANCE IS THE BODY, (5) TOLERANCE IS PLANTS, and (6) TOLERANCE IS ARE THINGS, (7) TOLERANCE IS A BUSINESS COMMODITY, (8) TOLERANCE IS WAR, and (9) TOLERANCE IS A VEHICLE. In general, the metaphor of tolerance in online Islamic mass media is classified into three tones, that is positive tones, negative tones, and neutral tones. Online Islamic mass media that have a positive tone are NU Online and Alif.id, mass media with a mixed tone (positive-neutral) is Suara Muhammadiyah and (positive-neutral-negative) is Hidayatullah.com, and mass media with a positive tone negative are Portal Islam, Suara Islam, VOA Islam, and Era Muslim.
