Abstract

This research aims to explore the communication strategies employed by disabled content creators in podcasts to enhance disability awareness among their audience. The utilization of podcast platforms for disseminating disability awareness by content creators Afif, Argya, and Dhani is motivated by various factors, such as ease of use and wider dissemination beyond the limitations of space and time. Their podcast content educates the general public about disability awareness, aiming to challenge the prevailing stigma surrounding disabled individuals. By employing their respective communication strategies to package the messages conveyed in their podcast content, they aspire to make their educational efforts accessible to a broader audience. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection involves observation and interviews with the three research subjects. The findings reveal that all three creators have communication strategies aligned with the developmental communication and empowerment perspectives. Additionally, the research identifies that the three creators engage in innovation diffusion to enhance disability awareness within society. The study also outlines the stages involved in the creation and dissemination of podcast content by these creators. The responses received after creating podcast content include both positive and negative feedback. Positive feedback includes increased knowledge and behavioral changes experienced by the listeners, indicating the effectiveness of the communication strategies employed. Consequently, the messages conveyed are not only well-received but also put into practice by the audience. On the other hand, negative feedback indicates the persistence of negative prejudices from some listeners concerning the experiences shared by disabled creators.

Abstract

This study described the diversity of higher order thinking skills in the evaluation instrument for Pancasila Education textbooks in universities and analyzed the level of conformity of higher order thinking skills in the evaluation instrument for Pancasila Education textbooks in universities. This study used a qualitative approach with the type of descriptive research. Data were collected utilizing observation and document study. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive, interpretive techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The study results indicated that the evaluation instrument in the Pancasila Education textbook contained all the criteria for higher-order thinking skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and creative thinking. However, the evaluation instrument in the Pancasila Education textbook, which contained criteria for higher-order thinking skills, was only 36 out of 78 items. Therefore, the Pancasila Education textbook needed to be revised again because the number of analyzing levels was more dominant than evaluating and creating. In addition, the cognitive domain in the Pancasila Education textbook was out of tune with the National Higher Education Standards guidelines.

Al Ishlahiyah Islamic Boarding School is the oldest Islamic boarding school in Singosari with a curriculum that is getting better every year. However, there is no mention of sexual education in the curriculum, even though cases of sexual violence don’t rule out the possibility of occurring in Islamic boarding schools. Based on the description of the situation analysis, the problems faced by partners are 1) a Low understanding of students on acts of sexual violence that may have been experienced by students, and 2) there has been no sexual violence mitigation training in Islamic boarding schools and on campuses. Based on the problems, several solutions were formulated namely 1) preparing digital literacy designs for sexual mitigation of students, 2) increasing the competence (cognitive, affective, psychomotor) of students in mitigating sexual violence, and 3) evaluating sexual violence mitigation training through digital literacy. In according with the PBL principle, the digital literacy training syllabus is prepared in the stage of understanding cases of sexual violence that have occurred at the boarding school, 2) the stage of training in making public texts with the theme of sexual violence through digital literacy, 3) the stage of training content creation in the form of public texts as sexual violence mitigation education, and 4) the training stage for disseminating the results of public texts through campaigns on social media. From these activities, it can be seen that 1)an increase in participant's understanding regarding sexual violence, responsive pathways for handling sexual violence, prevention of sexual violence, and anti-sexual violence campaigns in Islamic boarding schools, 2) Islamic Boarding Schools established a crisis center Islamic Boarding school as a form of advocacy and partisanship of Islamic boarding School on prevention and treatment sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools, and 3) there is an agreement (MoU) to develop an anti-sexual violence discourse with UPT PKM UB.

Abstract

The implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in higher education learning materials has become increasingly crucial in preparing students for complex real-world challenges. This study examines the HOTS components in the evaluation instruments of the 2016 Civics Education textbook published by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology. The research specifically focuses on analyzing thinking levels based on Bloom's taxonomy, including analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) capabilities. This descriptive qualitative research employed a systematic literature study method. The data collection involved comprehensive analysis of evaluation instruments from each chapter of the textbook, using predetermined HOTS criteria and indicators. The analysis process included content analysis, categorization, and verification of thinking skill levels. The findings reveal varied distribution of HOTS components in the evaluation instruments: critical thinking (35.6%), creative thinking (11.8%), problem-solving (28.7%), and decision-making (25.3%). Furthermore, the analysis of thinking levels showed the following distribution: C4 (41.4%), C5 (19.5%), and C6 (38%). These results indicate a need for more balanced distribution of HOTS components, particularly in strengthening creative thinking and evaluative abilities in the textbook's evaluation instruments.

Abstract

Technological advancements have impacted education, influencing student behavior across different eras—1990s, 2000s, and today. This survey-based research uses conventional sampling techniques and supports the theory of technological determinism, showing how communication technology affects behavior, thought patterns, and social interactions. Face-to-face communication has largely been replaced by online interactions. The study finds that chatting remains a common activity while waiting for lecturers, and highlights a decline in reading habits. Instead, frequent use of mobile phone has become prevalent. The research underscores how technology reshapes both learning environments and student habits.
