Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a condition of chronic malnutrition due to inadequate nutritional intake and is still a major health problem in Indonesia. Reducing the stunting rate can be done by reducing one of the risk factors of stunting, namely inadequate nutrition, which is influenced by the feeding practice in children under five years. This study aims to examine the relationship between complementary feeding practices on the incidence of stunting in Pendem Village, Batu City.Method: A case-control study was conducted and involved 30 children under five with stunting in the village of Pendem Batu City as a case group and 30 children with non-stunting conditions as a control. The instrument used in this study was a complementary feeding practice questionnaire. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed using an independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test.Result: The practice of giving complementary food has a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting in the village of Pendem, Batu City (p=0.015; <0,05), especially in the sub-category of complementary feeding safety (p=0.014) and the responsive complementary feeding (p=0.007). In the sub-category, the accuracy of complementary foods (p=0.176) and the adequacy of complementary foods (p=0.83) were not significantly related to the incidence of stunting in the village of Pendem Koa Batu. Conclusions: The practice of giving MPASI has a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting, especially in the sub-category of safety and responsive giving of MPASI.

Abstract

Background: This literature review study is based on the increasing number of people with Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (DMT2) which has an impact on the burden of family caregivers. Chronic T2DM disease requires long-term treatment and has an impact on the physical, psychological, social, and economic family. The burden of family caregivers causes stress, burnout, helplessness, and depression. Purpose: This literature review is intended to analyze the burden of family caregivers experienced when helping to care for family members with T2DM. Methods: This study method uses a literature review design conducted on 10 articles obtained from 3 data bases, namely EBSCO, PubMed, and Science Direct. The keywords used in article searches are "family burden OR burnout" or "caregiver burden OR burnout", AND "type 2 diabetes mellitus" with "AND" and "OR" as Boolean operators. Results: The results of the literature review found that family caregivers who do not have enough knowledge and skills in caring for family members with DMT2 and get this unprecedented patient condition cause family caregivers stress and discomfort, bringing them to mental, physical, social, and economic burdens because the only thing that concerns them is how they will persist in the face of the current conditions they are experiencing as well as the future of the family. Conclusions: The importance of the role of family nurses in providing upport in unraveling the burden experienced by family caregivers.

Abstract

Older adults undergo various physical changes that necessitate consistent efforts to sustain their health, which includes engaging in regular physical activity. Participation in these activities is influenced by multiple factors, one of which is self-regulation. This study aims to investigate the relationship between self-regulation and physical activity among older adults at the Ciptomulyo Health Center. The research employs an analytical method utilizing a cross-sectional design. A total of 374 respondents who met the study's selection criteria were recruited. The Physical Activity Self-Regulation Scale (PASR) and the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE) were utilized to evaluate the levels of self-regulation and physical activity, respectively. The collected data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The majority of respondents were female (58.6%), with a significant proportion demonstrating high levels of self-regulation (74.6%) and satisfactory physical activity levels (61.5%). The results established a substantial correlation between self-regulation and physical activity (p = 0.000), suggesting that enhanced self-regulation is associated with increased physical activity. These findings underscore the importance of interventions designed to enhance self-regulation among older adults. By strengthening self-regulation, it is possible to mitigate inactivity and promote a healthier lifestyle. This insight provides a foundational basis for developing strategies that support older adults in maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle by enhancing their self-management skills.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension are a major public health burden, particularly in rural areas with limited healthcare access. This community engagement program aimed to reduce the burden of NCDs through a comprehensive community-based intervention model involving the revitalization of inclusive Posbindu (integrated health posts) and the establishment of a Hypertension School. The intervention included cadre training, early risk screening, support group formation, and the application of a positive deviance approach. The results showed improved capacity of health cadres in hypertension detection and education, increased early screening in the productive age group, and enhanced self-management among patients. This model contributed to improved quality of life for hypertensive patients and better achievement of Minimum Service Standards (SPM) at the local health center. The integrative approach demonstrates significant potential in strengthening community-based health systems for sustainable NCD management.

Abstract

The majority of Master of Nursing Students are experiencing moderate to high levels of stress. Especially while working on their thesis. High-stress levels in nursing students can make them vulnerable to mental health disorders. One of the interventions to solve this problem is by building their resilience. Several previous studies related to resilience in nursing students focus more on undergraduate students. This study aims to analyze factors related to resilience in a master of nursing students in one of the state universities in East Java who are working on a thesis and see the fit of the resilience model. This study used a cross-sectional design with a total sampling technique. The minimum sample size is 10x the number of exogenous variables studied. There are 6 exogenous variables in this study so the minimum sample size is 60 respondents. The sample in this study amounted to 63 respondents. Univariate analysis in this study was carried out by analyzing numerical data using mean, median, and standard deviation values. Meanwhile, for categorical data, proportion analysis is used. Multivariate analysis was carried out using Partial Least Square (PLS) using SmartPLS 4. The result of this study shows p-values for X3 and Y, X5 and Y, X6 and Y, X1 and X6, X4 and X6 are below 0,05. So it can be concluded that interpersonal communication skills, social support, and coping strategies are positively related to resilience. Spirituality and physical health were not related to resilience but were positively related to coping strategies. Meanwhile, emotional intelligence is not related to either of them. The resilience model is a good fit. Further research by improving the research design is needed to support the results of this study.
