Abstract

Writing has been a very challenging skill for students especially for eight grade learners of one Islamic junior high school in Central Aceh. This research was conducted to see whether the picture and picture-learning model could increase the students’ capability in writing. To investigate it, the quantitative approach, i.e., experimental method was employed. The population of this study was four classes, totaling 124 students. By using random sampling, classes VIII1 and VIII3 consisting of 30 and 32 students, respectively, were selected as the sample of this research. To collect the data, both pretest and posttest were given to the students before and after applying the picture-learning model. The results showed that the learners performed better after the intervention for both groups; however, the experimental group made better improvement in their writing (post-test = 84; pre-test = 60). In addition, the t-test also displayed that t-test (3.603) was higher than t-table (3.0) indicating that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. The conclusion, therefore, was that the picture and picture-learning model increased the students’ writing ability.

Abstract

The convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies has revolutionized the education landscape, shifting paradigms toward individualized and optimized learning environments. By harnessing AI predictive power and ML adaptive capabilities, educational outcomes are enhanced while equipping teachers with data driven insights for informed decision making. The primary objective of this research is to explore how customized learning environments, ML models, performance measurement, and AI algorithms improve educational outcomes and learning experiences. Despite the rapid advancements in AI driven education, a gap exists in the integration of AI powered personalization with statistical validation techniques like SmartPLS, particularly in evaluating its direct impact on student engagement and performance. The novelty of this study lies in its emphasis on AI driven customization in learning, utilizing advanced statistical validation techniques to provide empirical support for personalized education models. The method involves a survey based approach combined with SmartPLS statistical modeling to analyze correlations between AI driven learning adaptations and educational outcomes. The findings from the result and discussion indicate a positive impact of AI algorithms and ML models on academic success, individualized learning, and improved performance measures, with most hypotheses yielding significant results. These insights align with emerging trends in personalized and adaptable learning and technological advancements, such as immersive experiences and the integration of virtual reality. By addressing the research gap and validating AI driven learning models through SmartPLS, this study contributes to the growing body of knowledge in AI enhanced education, demonstrating the effectiveness of intelligent, data-driven learning environments in fostering better academic performance and engagement.

Abstract

Abstrack Interests and talents are the most important part in determining majors for middle and high school students. To continue education according to one's skills, it is important to carry out interest and aptitude psychological tests so that the phenomenon of wrong majors that is often complained about at the tertiary level no longer occurs. Often the basic complaint that students complain about is regret because they chose the wrong major and this resulted in not graduating at college level. This community service is aimed at providing information and knowledge to MTsS Ar Rahman Paya Tumpi students through socialization and also conducting interest and talent psychological tests. This socialization and adjustment of talents is carried out to reduce the number of mistakes in choosing a major for students in the future. The number of subjects included in this service was 26 grade 9 students. The psychological test instruments used in this service were the Wartegg Test, RMIB (Rothwell Miller Interest Blank), Modality Test, and Dragon Test. The result of this community service is that it is able to provide an overview of students' interests and talents as well as an overview of knowledge regarding the student's level of intelligence and personality. From the results of the tests that have been carried out, students can use them to proceed to the next stage, such as choosing a major, both at the high school level and also at the tertiary level, and students are able to understand themselves and their personalities. Socialization of the importance of taking interest and talent tests was also explained as important information for students at MTsS Ar Rahman Paya Tumpi. Keywords: Socialization and adjustment, Talent Interest. Psychological test.

Saman dance is a folk dance developed in the Gayo tribal community that inhabits several districts in Aceh Province. The origins of the dance are in harmony with the entry of Islam in Aceh and become a propaganda media in the spread of Islam. Then developed into an art that has a socio-cultural function and is the result of Islamic cultural acculturation. This study intends to examine the values of Islamic education contained in the symbols, the meaning of the movements and poetry of the Saman dance through ethnopedagogical analysis. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative method. The data source in this study consisted of primary data sources and secondary data sources, primary data sources were obtained from saman jalu dance video files and secondary data sources were obtained from interviews, books, video, and literatures. The results of the Saman dance research are known to be some of the values of Islamic education, namely, deliberation, courtesy to start guests, establish silaturrahmi, worship prayers, unity, obedience to leaders and scholars, love the motherland and habituation. This value is part of religious and moral education which has an important role in shaping the character of the Gayo tribe community.

Abstract

Finding ideas to write about is a common challenge for many EFL learners in developing their writing skills. This study aimed to investigate whether writing about daily activities (i.e., journaling) improves the writing ability of EFL students at a junior high school in Aceh Tengah. A quantitative, experimental research design was employed. The sample consisted of 46 eighth-grade students, with 22 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group. Pre- and post-tests were used to measure the students’ performance before and after the intervention. Results showed that the experimental group’s mean score increased significantly from 48 (pre-test) to 82 (post-test). A t-test analysis revealed that t(44) = 4.92, p < .05, indicating a significant difference between the groups. This result suggests that journaling practice had a statistically significant positive effect on the EFL students’ writing ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the inheritance of vowels in the Karo language or Bahasa Karo (hereafter, BK) from Proto-Austronesian (PAN), and BK words that show the retention or inheritance of certain vowels, such as /a/, /i/, /u/, and //. The method involved comparing the phonological elements of BK with the equivalent elements in PAN by using the theory of comparative historical linguistics, including searching for inherited vowels in the penultimate and ultimate positions and observing the retention patterns that occur. The data were derived from 200 Swadesh words and three interviewers. Vocal retention occurs more frequently in the penultimate position than in the ultimate position. This shows how phonological positions affect vowel stability during language transition. These findings conclude that certain phonological components, particularly vowels, have a greater tendency to persist in specific environments. BK has preserved a significant portion of the original PAN vowel inventory, exhibiting less vowel reduction and merger compared to adjacent languages. The retention of vowels in BK indicates a phonological conservatism relative to the more dynamic vowel alterations observed in other Austronesian branches. This study also found a close relationship between PAN and BK in the inheritance of phonological elements of linear vocal of /a/,/i/,/u/,/e/, and one nonlinear vowel sound of /o/. Another important result is the transfer of the vowel /u/ from PAN to BK in the ultimate position shows a pattern of retention or direct inheritance.
