Abstract

Background: Women can experience complications and mortality in the postpartum period. Women are also burdened with the long-term consequences of complications after delivery. Access to high-quality care during the postpartum period is essential to improving maternal outcomes, but the number of postpartum visits has not met the standard. This study aims to analyze the determinants of postpartum visit attendance in Surakarta.Method: A retrospective case-control study was conducted using secondary data. The database used in this study was derived from maternal and child health books and data from community health centers. All mothers who had completed the postpartum period (≥42 days postpartum) with the inclusion criteria of having a maternal and child health book and living in Surakarta were involved in this study. Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The relationship between the two variables was analyzed using the chi-square test. Multivariate analysis was performed using the logistic regression test. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05.Result: A total of 179 postpartum mothers' data were successfully collected. Most of them had incomplete postpartum visit data. (75.4%). The number of children and type of delivery were related to the status of the mother's postpartum visit (p ≤ 0.05). Other variables, namely age, occupation, insurance ownership, complications during pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum, education, and place of delivery, were unrelated to the completeness of postpartum visits (p> 0.05). The results of multivariate analysis showed that the type of delivery simultaneously affected the mother's postpartum visit. Mothers who experienced a CS delivery compared to normal delivery had a 0.170 times greater chance of having a complete postpartum visit.

Introduction: Occupational health must be considered in the workplace. Cases of overweight and obesity among workers in the manufacturing sector have increased. This study analyzes the relationship between physical workload and personal factors related to nutritional status among manufacturing workers. Methods: This study used an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The variables of this study were physical workload, nutritional status, and personal factors such as gender, educational level, exercise habits, and smoking habits. The sample in this study was 239 workers in the manufacturing industry, and it was obtained using random sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation and coefficient contingency test. Result: More than half of the total cases of overweight and obesity occur in manufacturing workers who have a low physical workload. More than half of the respondents are female, do not have a high school education, and have never exercised. Most do not have a smoking habit. The results showed that physical workload (p=0.001), exercise habits (p=0.001), gender (p=0,004), and educational level (p=0.037) were related to nutritional status. In contrast, manufacturing workers' smoking habits were not associated with nutritional status (p>0.05). Conclusion: Physical workload, exercise habits, gender, and educational level have a relationship with nutritional status among workers, it is recommended that workers must increase their exercise routine such as implementing scheduled sports shifts for workers and providing sports facilities in companies so the case of being obesity can be decreased.

Abstract

Introduction: Women's participation in the labor market has increased significantly, yet challenges related to fair wages, long working hours, and work-life balance persist. This study addresses the factors influencing female workers’ perceptions of sufficient work time among female workers. Methods: This study used secondary data from the 2024 National Labor Force Survey conducted by Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics, focusing on six industrial cities in East Java. A purposive sample of employed women aged 15 years and older with complete data on key variables was selected for the analysis. Data collection was conducted using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) through the FASIH application. Statistical analyses were performed with a significance level set at p < 0.05 and 95% confidence intervals (CI).Results: In total, 1,378 female workers completed the survey. Almost all the female workers (94.0%) felt that their working hours were sufficient. Education (p=0.014), length of work (p=0.07), payroll period (0.002), wages according to the district minimum wage (0.000), and long working hours (0.022) were related to perceived work time sufficiency in female workers, while age (p=0.624), marriage (p=0.642), vision impairment (p=0.956), and hearing loss were not related to perceived work time sufficiency. Conclusion: Employment conditions, education levels, and wage systems influenced how women perceive their work time adequacy. Adequate wages, access to education for women, and working hours within healthy limits can improve the work-life balance for women.

Abstract

Background: Since 2019, the world has been faced with a global crisis. The spread of SARS-CoV-2 has an impact on all populations, including pregnant women, who are among the most vulnerable and at-risk population groups. The worldwide spread of the virus is called the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to explore the factors that cause maternal death during pregnancy and postpartum due to COVID-19 in several countries.Method: A literature review was conducted to explore broadly the causes of maternal deaths due to COVID in several countries. Article search on three databases, namely PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect. A total of 7 articles were analyzed. The data studied are cases of death and their causes. Results: The study was conducted in the period 2018 to 2021 with the type of research using retrospective data. When compared to before the pandemic, there was a significant increase in the number of maternal deaths. Factors that increase the risk of maternal death come from direct and indirect factors. Indirect factors such as age, health facility access, inadequate tools, and health services, access to knowledge, cultural practice, and poverty. Direct factors are comorbidities such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and immune impairment. Pregnant women who do not have comorbidities can have a poor prognosis with undetected causes of death. Health facilities need to conduct early screening so that direct and indirect factors can be minimized to prevent maternal mortality.

Abstract

Cervical cancer causes 10.3% women mortality in Indonesia. Visual Inspection of Acetic Acid (VIA) had been used for screening program since 2014, but only 2.45% women took the test in 2015. In the place of this study, the coverage was at less than 1%. Previous studies revealed that psychosocial was an important factor, but less studies analyzed the role of husband support and direct experience with cervical cancer patient. The aim of the study was to learn correlation between direct experience with cervical cancer patient, husband support, self-perception and women’s desire to take VIA screening. Crosssectional study was applied randomly on women aged 25-55 years old at four villages in Yogyakarta. All data were taken by questionnaire. Most of 188 respondents had right perception of cervical cancer and the importance of VIA, but they did not receive adequate support from their husband. Few of them had direct experience with cervical cancer patient. Statistical results showed that age, right perception and husband support were correlated with women’s desire to take VIA test (p value< 0.05), while direct experience with cervical cancer patient was not correlate. Women with right perception and husband support are more willing to take VIA test.
