Abstract

Background: Adolescents experience various psychosocial challenges, including low self-esteem, depression, substance abuse, and risky behaviors, which adversely affect their psychological well-being. School-based mindfulness interventions have emerged as effective strategies for promoting positive mental health among adolescents. Objective: This systematic review evaluates the effectiveness of school-based mindfulness programs in enhancing psychological well-being in adolescents after parental divorce. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, the review analyzed studies identified from nine major databases—Cochrane, Clinical Key, BMC, Medrix, ProQuest, PubMed, Wiley, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis—between February and May 2024. Included studies consisted of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental studies focusing on school-based interventions targeting adolescent mental health. The JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist was employed to assess the risk of bias. Results: Out of 757 screened articles, 10 studies involving 27,680 participants from countries including Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Poland were selected. Findings suggest that school-based mindfulness interventions significantly improve psychological well-being and reduce mental health symptoms. Conclusion: Mindfulness-based interventions, when integrated into school environments with consistent support from families and educators, effectively promote psychological well-being among adolescents and reduce mental health risks.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a life process experienced by women. It leads to physical, mental, and social changes in the mother. Pregnant women need to adapt to these changes throughout pregnancy. This study aims to determine the relationship between husband's support and the adaptability of pregnant women. This is a quantitative study using a descriptive-correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 157 pregnant women. Univariate analysis was presented in frequency distribution tables, while bivariate analysis used Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The adaptability of pregnant women in terms of physiological, self-concept, role function, and interdependence, as well as husband’s support, were categorized as good. A significant relationship was found between husband's support and the adaptability of pregnant women, specifically in physiological adaptation (p-value 0.000), self-concept (p-value 0.008), role function (p-value 0.002), and interdependence (p-value 0.000). Husband's support has a significant relationship with pregnant women’s adaptability in terms of physiological adjustment, self-concept, role function, and interdependence. Pregnant women can better adapt to pregnancy-related changes when they receive strong support from their husbands.

Abstract

Background: Young people often face challenges in determining their life goals due to various influencing factors. This issue is a major problem for young people living in earthquake-prone areas. Purpose: This study aims to develop and test a structural equation model (Structural Equation Modeling/SEM) of life goals in young adults in areas prone to earthquake disasters. Methods: The model used in this study is SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) which is operated through the Smart PLS program. SEM data processing builds a measurement model and a structural model. The SEM process involved three key steps: confirmatory factor analysis to test the instrument's validity and reliability, path analysis to evaluate the relationships between variables, and structural model analysis to assess and predict the model's overall suitability. Results: Most of the study participants were female (87.2%) aged 18-21 years (67.5%). More than half of the respondents were undergraduate students (68.9%) who were single (96.5%), and respondents who had no history of trauma (66.1%). Normality analysis showed that the absolute values of skewness and kurtosis of all variables did not exceed 1.97 and 2.58, respectively, thus meeting the recommended criteria for a normal distribution. In this study, the fit index of the hypothesized model met the recommended criteria so that the overall model fit was considered acceptable. This indicates that the hypothesized life purpose model for young adults in areas prone to earthquake disasters is appropriate. Path analysis showed that 10 of the 15 paths were statistically significant. Conclusion: Model development shows variables that are quite effective in forming a model to improve the life purpose of young adults in areas prone to earthquake disasters.
