Abstract

The aim of this research were to analyze the  RPM effect on the Petokong Type TEP 1 cutting capacity. The tools used include TEP-1 Type Cassava Stem Cutter, tachometer, stopwatch, 1000 ml measuring cylinder, 3.4 and 6 inch pulleys. The amount of bait used in this study was 2, 3, 4 cassava stalks. Revolutions per Minute (RPM) modification is done by using different pulley diameters. Pulleys with a diameter of 3 inches produce 3500 RPM, a diameter of 4 inches produces 2625 RPM, and a diameter of 6 inches produces 1750 RPM. Parameters observed in this study included working capacity, fuel consumption, and seed size uniformity. The best working capacity is owned by the B2R1 treatment combination of 9,900 seedlings/hour with the feed amount of 3 cassava stalks and 3500 RPM, while the lowest capacity is 6,000 seeds/hour produced in the B1R3 treatment with the feed amount of 2 cassava stems and 1750 RPM. Measuring fuel consumption is necessary using methods that are accurate and of long duration. In this study, the measurement of fuel consumption only lasted for 2 minutes using the method of adding fuel volume. This will cause a high error in the calculation. The use of Petokong produces a uniformity of above 95% which causes low seedling damage due to cutting. Keywords: Cassava Seeds, Cultivation of cassava, Lampung, Cutting machine, Pulley

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries where the majority of the population are farmers, and rice is the main commodity. While rice drying is an important factor, the current climate and weather changes are an obstacle for farmers in the drying process. Rice with high moisture content is not safe for storage as it is susceptible to mold attack and deterioration. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of the level of inclination of the plastic position on the decrease in rice moisture content and the level of loss. The results of observations of the weather index for 4 days show that the intensity of the sun reaching the earth varies every hour. The parameters measured rice weights of 250 grams, 500 grams, and 750 grams showed that at a slope of 30 ° had the lowest moisture content and the highest rate of rice loss was in rice weights of 250 grams with a slope of 0 ° at 62% while the lowest rate of rice loss was in rice weights of 750 grams with a slope of 0 ° at 19%.   Keywords: Rice, Drying, Moisture Content Rice Weight, Slope.

Abstract

Cassava production not only produces tubers, but also produces waste, one of which is cassava stems. So far, the waste of cassava stems has not been widely used by farmers, so that after the cassava is harvested, the cassava stems are just left lying on the ground. This study aims to reduce cassava stem waste through size reduction using a cassava stem chopper (Rabakong) with variations in engine speed per minute (RPM).This research was carried out at the Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Power Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung in May - June 2023. The treatment used 3 variations of RPM namely 800, 1000, and 1400 where each used 3 different amounts of input, and each RPM was repeated 3 times. The number of inputs used is the input of 3 sticks, 4 sticks, and 5 sticks. The results showed that chopping using the RPM setting of 1400 and the input amount of 4 cassava sticks had the best working capacity with a value of 194.448 kg/hour. Lowest fuel consumption by using the RPM setting of 800 and the number of inputs of 3 sticks with a value of 1,073 liters/hour. Keywords:  Cassava Stems, Input, Rabakong, RPM.
