Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of change management in character education at MAN 1 Yogyakarta, focusing on developing skilled individuals with leadership qualities and the ability to tackle global competition challenges. In the current evolving landscape, where global competition has intensified, students in Indonesia are facing demanding requirements. This research is a case study using a qualitative descriptive method. Besides academic excellence, students also need to possess "soft skills" and "hard skills" that are essential for keeping up with the times. Soft skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork are crucial in a collaborative work environment. On the other hand, hard skills such as technological proficiency and foreign language skills provide the necessary competitive advantage. To meet these demands, Indonesian education needs to focus on developing both foundational aspects and specific expertise. MAN 1 Yogyakarta recognizes this need and has taken steps to prepare its students according to the required standards of change. They implement programs such as basic leadership training (LDK) and establish a special student organization called OSAKA (Organisasi Siswa Madrasah Aliyah Program Keagamaan) to enhance students' leadership skills, discipline, and sense of responsibility. This activity is a flagship program aimed at enhancing students' abilities in communication, discipline, and leadership. There are also by participating in clubs and organizations such as the Intra-School Student Organization (OSIS), Indonesian Red Cross Youth (PMR), Islamic Spiritual (ROHIS), Scouts, and scientific clubs, students also learn the importance of responsibility and discipline in fulfilling their roles within these organizations.

Abstract

Orphanages function as a substitute for families to meet children's needs during development. Foster children living in orphanages are vulnerable to resilience. Therefore, appropriate parenting methods are needed for children living in orphanages. This research aims to identify Islamic parenting methods to increase the resilience abilities of foster children because children living in orphanages are vulnerable to this. This research also analyzes the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing Islamic parenting methods to increase the resilience abilities of foster children. This qualitative research used a descriptive approach. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of data was tested through triangulation of techniques and sources. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis, namely reducing data, presenting data, and concluding data. The location of this research was at the Bina Insani Orphanage in Moyudan, Sleman. The respondents of this study were 3 caregivers and 4 foster children. This research found that: 1) Islamic parenting methods to improve the resilience abilities of foster children consist of the example method, habituation method, advice method, and attention method. 2) Supporting factors in implementing Islamic parenting methods to increase the resilience abilities of foster children consist of the role of administrators and teachers, the role of donors, and the available facilities and infrastructure. The inhibiting factors are a lack of awareness within the child, a lack of parenting cooperation between parents and guardians of the child and the orphanage, and negative effects from the external environment because foster children go to school outside the orphanage. Islamic parenting methods can be applied in educational institutions in the student's learning process to build good character and resilience. This research can be a basis for educational institutions to establish close collaboration with families in implementing Islamic parenting patterns.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of character education in two urban-based student Islamic boarding schools affiliated with Islamic universities in Yogyakarta: The Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) and Ma’had Aly bin Abi Talib at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY). While character education is a key feature in both classical and modern pesantren, this research investigates how these two institutions adapt their strategies to address the moral and social challenges faced by contemporary urban Muslim students in higher education contexts. Using a qualitative field approach, data were collected through interviews with caregivers, lecturers, and students, as well as observations and institutional document analysis during the 2022–2023 academic year. The findings reveal that UII emphasizes structured mentoring, leadership development, and integrative academic-religious programs, while UMY focuses on project-based learning through da’wah and tahfidz activities to shape students’ religious, social, and leadership character. Unlike pesantren in rural or traditional contexts, these urban-based institutions integrate academic demands, digital technology, and modern social dynamics into their character education framework. This study contributes to a contextual understanding of character development for contemporary urban Muslim students in Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the consensus of experts on the needs of the main element and sequence position (ranking) priority for each item in the design development of the model gamification vocabulary in Arabic. This study employed the fuzzy Delphi approach using a seven-point Likert scale. This work aimed to create a model gamification vocabulary for Arabic based on expert consensus. Consequently, the researchers gathered the opinions of nine experts from various sectors, particularly Arabic language, technology education, and Arabic language industry participants. This 21-item survey questionnaire has three primary components: (i) informational elements, (ii) interface elements, and (iii) the element of interactivity. Triangular fuzzy numbering was used to analyze the data. A defuzzification process establishes each item's position (ranking). The results demonstrate that experts agree on every point in the primary element. The results demonstrate that experts agree on every point in the primary element. The results indicate that every item received met or exceeded the three fuzzy criteria: the threshold value (d) does not exceed or equal 0.2, the percentage of deal experts exceeds or equals 75%, and the defuzzification (alpha cut) value exceeds or equals 0.5. The Arabic Gamification Vocabulary Model should provide the educational sector with fresh ideas that align with the nation's digital education policy.

Abstract

Several recent advancements have been made in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) language learning. Given the widespread adoption and enabling power of immersive technologies, as well as the potential applications of Artificial Intelligence Supported Language Learning (AISLL), it is critical to continuously investigate the literature to identify trends and practices in language education research. Of the 89 publications located between 2021 and 2023, 10 were selected based on the criteria for inclusion and exclusion from WoS and Scopus. Using five codes obtained from earlier systematic reviews, the researcher conducted an analysis and synthesis of these studies. The codes were as follows: 1) aim, 2) methodology, 3) sample, 4) country, and 5) outcomes. The systematic review revealed several key trends in AISLL. It was found that universities were the predominant setting for AISLL research, with most studies employing quantitative research methods. The methodologies varied widely, with emphasis on experimental and quasi-experimental designs. The countries represented in the studies were diverse, yet there was a concentration in technologically advanced regions. Significant outcomes reported include improved student performance and positive attitudes toward AI tools in language learning. To better understand AI utilization in language teaching and learning, academics are urged to broaden the scope of future studies and involve students at all educational levels in future AISLL practices.
