Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the relationship between the perceptions of the Bali Tourism Vocational School students towards the tourism industry during the pandemic on making decisions to continue their studies in the tourism study program. From the research objectives, the research design will use a quantitative research approach. Thus, the Spearman correlation test is used to analyze the relationship between two variables in the form of ordinal data. However, to answer the formulation of the first and second problems, descriptive statistical tests are also needed to determine the characteristics and distribution of the data obtained. The perception of the Bali Tourism Vocational School students towards the tourism industry during the COVID-19 pandemic showed a positive trend, where as many as 82.2% of students had a positive perception of the tourism industry even though this industry experienced paralysis due to the prolonged brunt of the COVID 19 pandemic. From the results of the analysis, it was also found that the decision making of the Tourism Vocational High School students was very positive, where as many as 80.5% of the respondents revealed that they showed a tendency to strongly decide to continue their studies in the tourism study program. From the results of the hypothesis test, it is known that the perception of the Bali tourism vocational school students towards the tourism industry during the pandemic is positively correlated with a sufficient and significant level of relationship with students' decision making to continue their studies in the tourism study program. The magnitude of the contribution given by the perception variable of the Bali tourism vocational school students to the tourism industry during the pandemic on students' decision making to continue their studies in the tourism study program is 15.4%, while the other 84.6% contribution difference is given by other variables not examined in this study. Key words: Students’ descisson, students’ perception

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) acquisition among university students in Bali. Variations in students’ language proficiency indicate the influence of mobile technology in the learning process. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the study explores how students interact with MALL, which language skills are enhanced, and the challenges and opportunities they encounter. Findings reveal that students engaged with MALL autonomously through platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Duolingo, integrating English learning into their daily lives. MALL contributed most significantly to vocabulary and listening skills, with improvements in speaking, reading, and grammar emerging through incidental and repeated exposure. The study supports Nation’s vocabulary framework (Nation, 2001), Krashen’s Input Hypothesis (Krashen, 1982), and Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (Mayer, 2024). Students appreciated MALL’s flexibility, authentic input, and low-pressure environment, which promoted motivation and self-regulated learning. The implications suggest that MALL can serve as a more flexible, contextual, and learner-centered model for language education in the digital era. Integrating MALL into formal curricula can enhance learner autonomy, foster intrinsic motivation, and expand access to authentic learning materialspromoting self-directed and technologically adaptive language learners.

Abstract

The phenomenon of increasing workload felt by employees at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas raises a problem where employee motivation is still high. This phenomenon is certainly not in line with the opinion of Haryono, et al (2009) which states that excessive workload can trigger a decrease in morale and work motivation. Which means that if the workload given is high it will cause a decrease in employee motivation. However, it is different from the theory of goal setting theory according to Lucke & Latham (1990) this theory states that a difficult goal or a goal that has a high degree of difficulty can increase one's work motivation.  This study examines the correlatino workload between employee motivation at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas hotel. This study aims to analyze the level of workload at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas hotel, to analyze the level of employee motivation at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas hotel, and to analyze how workload relates to employee motivation at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas hotel. Villas. This research method is a quantitative method with a correlational associative approach. The population in this study were all hotel employees. The number of samples in this study amounted to 103 respondents to the determination of the sample using simple random sampling. Furthermore, the instruments use in this study were questionnaires and interview guides. The instrument use has gone through validity and reliability tests. To answer the problem formulation using descriptive statistical tests and Pearson product moment correlation analysis. Based on the results of the  descriptive statistical test regarding the level of workload it was found that the  workload at The Patra Bali Resort & Villas hotel was in the High category with the  mean result being 39.49, from the results of the descriptive statistical test it was  found that the level of employee motivation at The Patra Bali Resort hotel & Villas  is in the very high category with a mean result of 41.04 and the Pearson product  moment correlation analysis shows that workload and work motivation have a weak  relationship with an r value of 0.206 and a significant level of data confidence.
