Abstract

Background:  Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health concern in Indonesia, with a high prevalence of cases, particularly in patients with comorbidities such as HIV infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes mellitus (DM), and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Evidence suggested radiological variations in chest X-ray findings among these complex condition, which may pose significant challenges in accurately diagnosing pulmonary TB in clinical practice. Objective:  This study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the variations in chest X-ray imaging in pulmonary TB patients with specific comorbidities, focusing on DM, CKD, and COPD.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Sepanjang Hospital by utilizing standardized medical records and chest X-ray results of 50 pulmonary patients with comorbidities. Results: The most prevalent comorbidity was DM, with radiological findings including fibroinfiltrates, consolidations, and cavities. CKD patients exhibited radiological features such as infiltrates, cavitations, and pleural effusion, while COPD patients presented with infiltrates and consolidations. Conclusion: The study provides valuable insights into the radiological manifestations of pulmonary TB and its comorbidities, offering a basis for improved management and treatment strategies for patients with pulmonary TB and comorbidities. Further research employing longitudinal designs and balanced representation of comorbid conditions is recommended to enhance the understanding of the interplay between TB and associated health conditions.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the volume of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and the degree of midline shift with the level of consciousness according to the Glasgow Coma Scale at Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Panjang Hospital. ICH and midline shift data were collected from medical records, and ICH and midline shift measurements were carried out by 3 (three) radiology specialists, then the results of the medical records were linked using the Spearmen's correlation test. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between the volume of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and the degree of midline shift on the Glasgow Coma Scale at the Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Panjang Hospital.

Abstract

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the growth of non-malignant cells or hyperplasia of prostate tissue, which causes Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) in men. One guide to direct and determine the symptoms of obstruction due to prostate enlargement is the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). Objective: To determined the relationship between prostate volume and IPSS score in BPH patients at Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Cabang Sepanjang Hospital. Methods: This was an analytic observational study using a prospective cohort method. The sample selection used consecutive sampling techniques in accordance with predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria for collecting data using primary and secondary data, abdominal ultrasound data, and the IPSS questionnaire. The number of samples used was 30 patients from November 2022 to April 2023. Results: The prostate volume in grade II was 46.7%, while for grade I and grade III were 33.3% and 20%, respectively. For the results of the IPSS, the moderate category was 76.7%, with mild and severe IPSS scores at 10% and 13.3%, respectively. The Spearman test results showed that the p-value was 0.006 <0.05, the value of r = 0.486, and the correlation coefficient was positive, meaning there was a unidirectional relationship between prostate volume and the IPSS score. Conclusion: There is a reasonably strong relationship between prostate volume and IPSS score in BPH patients at Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Cabang Sepanjang Hospital. Keywords:  BPH, prostate volume, IPSS

Abstract

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the growth of non-malignant cells or hyperplasia of prostate tissue which causes LUTS in men. One system to assess the symptoms of obstruction due to prostate enlargement is the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). Prostate volume is performed to check the progress of BOO (Bladder Outlet Obstruction) using Transabdominal Ultrasound. This research is an analytical observational study with a prospective cohort method. The sample selection in this research applied consecutive sampling techniques using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of samples used was 30 patients in the period between November 2022 and April 2023. The results showed that the prostate volume in grade II was 46.7%, while for grade I was 33.3% and grade III was 20%. For the results of the IPSS, the moderate category was 76.7%, with mild and severe IPSS scores are 10% and 13.3%. The Spearman test results showed that the p-value was 0.006 <0.05, the value of r = 0.486, and the correlation coefficient was positive, which means that there is a fairly strong relationship between prostate volume and IPSS score in BPH patients at the Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Cabang Sepanjang Hospital.
