Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the joint motion kinetics of the shoulders, elbows, and wrists between experienced player (skilled player) group and unskilled player group when performing overhead standing smash in badminton game. The samples involved were 26 samples. The samples included 13 male badminton players joining Student Activity Unit who had achieved many achievements and had a high skill (skilled), while the other 13 samples were unskilled players, involving students who had just studied under one year. The mean of participants’ age was 19.4 ± 1.6 years, height was 1.73 ± 0.12m, and body weight was 62.8 ± 3.7kg. This study used 3 Panasonic Handycams, a calibration set, 3D Frame DIAZ IV motion analysis software, and a speed radar gun. Normalization of the kinetic motion score of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints was calculated using the inverse dynamics method. The t-test was used to determine the significance of motion kinetic difference of the two different groups. The results presented that the shuttlecock speed of the skilled player group, during the overhead standing smash, showed a significant difference. Meanwhile, the joint motion of the inferior shoulder force, shoulder anterior force, shoulder internal rotation torque, shoulder horizontal abduction torque, elbow anterior force, and wrist flexion torque were higher in the skilled players group than the unskilled player group.

Abstract

Badminton is a racket sport that emphasizes movement technique training such as jumping, turning, fast arm movements and requires the right racket strings. One of the factors to get the speed of a badminton athlete's smash is one of them using the tightness of a 28 LBS and 24 LBS racket string. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of the tightness of the 28 LBS and 24 LBS racket strings on the speed of a badminton athlete's smash. The method used by the researcher is an experimental method with an Ex-Post Facto research design. The sample involved in this study consisted of 10 badminton athletes selected according to the criteria desired by the researcher. The instrument used uses kinovea software. The analysis of this data was taken by the researcher using the SPSS version 23 application. The data obtained by the researcher was in the form of an average value of 1.50, with a standard deviation of 0.513. The results of the homogeneity test showed that the significance value of 0.663> 0.05, so it can be concluded that the data variance is homogeneous. Along with the t-test results show that the significance value (2-tailed) is 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in average speed between the tightness of the 28 LBS and 24 LBS racket strings. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of the tightness of the 28 LBS and 24 LBS racket strings on the speed of badminton athletes smash.

Abstract

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterized by rapid kicks. In the combat category, technical ability is the key to success in gaining points. The aphurigi technique (axe kick) is one of the important techniques in taekwondo because the technique gives a point contribution of around 20% in the match. Thus, it is necessary to investigate kinematic analysis to determine the kinematic parameters that contribute to the success of the aphurigi (axe kick) kick technique. 24 athletes were involved in this research, divided into 2 groups, namely the national level group and the regional group. All samples performed aphurigi kicks, then recorded using a camera and analyzed using skill spector software in 2 dimensions. There are 6 parameters analyzed consisting of kick speed, hip position, angular speed, and kick range. From the measurements that have been carried out, the results show that national-level athletes have significant differences compared to regional athletes in kick speed in the upswing phase, p-0.003, hip position, p-0.045, and knee angle in the upswing phase, p-0.026. However, there were no significant differences in other parameters, including kick speed in the upswing phase, kick range, and knee angle in the upswing phase. The results show the importance of a specific training program to train kinematic parameters that can influence aphurigi kick performance, therefore amateur athletes can master effective kick techniques and compete at the national level.

Abstract

Agility is a very important physical component in futsal, where the ability to change direction quickly and accurately determines the performance of athletes on the field. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of ABC Running Drill and Hexagon Drill exercises on increasing the agility of male futsal athletes. This study uses an experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The study population was male futsal athletes from Al Azhar 5 Islamic High School Cirebon with a sample of 15 athletes. Agility was measured using the Agility T-Test before and after the intervention in the form of a combination of ABC Running Drill and Hexagon Drill exercises for six weeks with 2 meetings per week. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. The results showed a significant increase in agility with a decrease in the average travel time from 13.48 seconds in the pretest to 10.90 seconds in the posttest (difference of 2.58 seconds). All study subjects who were initially in the “poor” category (>12.5 seconds) experienced an improvement in performance with a posttest time range between 9.61-11.84 seconds. The data had a normal distribution based on the Shapiro-Wilk test (p-value > 0.05) and showed a decrease in standard deviation from 5.62 to 3.59, indicating an improvement in performance consistency between athletes. The combination of ABC Running Drill and Hexagon Drill exercises has proven to be effective in significantly increasing the agility of male futsal athletes. This training method can be implemented as an effective training strategy to develop the agility skills of futsal athletes, especially for athletes with low initial agility performance.
