Abstract

Lack of response time and therapeutic communication by nurses cause patient and family dissatisfaction with services at the hospital. This study aimed to determine the relationship between response time and nurses' therapeutic communication skills on patient satisfaction in the emergency room at Lavalette Hospital, Malang, in May 2024. This research method uses a cross-sectional design. The research sample was patients treated in the emergency room, with a total of 92 respondents. The sampling method used accidental sampling. The data collection method observes the time it takes for nurses to carry out initial actions and questionnaires on nurse therapeutic communication and patient satisfaction. Bivariate analysis used Spearman-Rho, and multivariate analysis used multiple linear regression with a p-value <0.05. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that the p-value for response time was 0.000 and therapeutic communication was 0.001, so it could be concluded that there was a relationship between response time, therapeutic communication, and patient satisfaction in the emergency room at Lavalette Hospital, Malang. Nurses' response time and therapeutic communication skills should be maintained and improved in providing services in hospitals, especially in the emergency room, to prevent problems from arising that could impact patient satisfaction.

surgical process. Family support plays a crucial role in helping patients manage preoperative anxiety. The study aimed to analyze the relationship between family support and anxiety levels in patients undergoing major elective surgery with general anesthesia. The research design was cross-sectional. The study population consisted of 92 patients, with a sample size of 75 recruited through non-probability purposive sampling. The study utilized family support and Amsterdam preoperative anxiety and information Scale (APAIS) questionnaires as instruments. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests, including Spearman’s rank correlation (Rho) with a p-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The results showed that almost all participant received high levels of family support (81.3%) and moderate level of preoperative anxiety (81.3%). The Spearman rank test indicated a significant relationship between family support and anxiety levels (p-value = 0.000 0.05) with a very strong, negative correlation (r = -.870). In conclusion, higher the family support is associated with lower anxiety level in preoperative patients. It is recommended that families provide consistent support during preoperative phase to help reduce patient level of anxiety.

Abstract

High blood pressure is a disease where there is a drastic increase in blood pressure, where the increase in blood pressure is more than normal. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a combination of foot bath ginger boiling water and slow deep breathing on blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients. The research design used in this study was Quasy experimental Design with a pre-test and post-test control group design research design, with non-probability sampling techniques, the sample size in this study was 44 respondents divided into 2 namely 22 treatment groups and 22 groups control. The treatment is carried out 6 times for 3 weeks in intensity 2 times a week. Each intervention will be conducted then the respondent will be measured pre-test, then post-test measurements will be carried out after the respondent gets foot bath ginger soak and slow deep breathing treatment. The results showed that after the foot bath treatment of ginger boiled water and slow deep breathing systolic and diastolic blood pressure changed by an average of 40.42%, and for systolic blood pressure was 125.00 mmHg, and diastolic blood pressure 79.55mmHg. The results of the study stated that there was an influence from the administration of the foot bath intervention of ginger cooking water and slow deep breathing on the decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This can be seen from the Wilcoxon test results with a P value = 0,000 or (p <α = 0.05). It can be concluded that the foot baths of ginger cooking water and slow deep breathing have an effect on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Foot Bath ginger boiling water with a combination of slow deep breathing is very good and suitable for hypertensive patients who choose to use treatment with therapeutic methods, where the therapy can widen blood vessels so that blood circulation becomes smooth so that blood pressure can drop.
