Abstract

Cow dung waste at Srunen hamlet, Glagaharjo village, Cangkringan, Sleman is recorded to be high in quantity since it also has a high population of dairy cows. The high volume of cow dung waste leads to environment pollution, either water or air pollution. The environment pollution it causes may further trigger some problems regarding society’s health, safety and comfort. Thereby, the abundant quantity of cow dung waste needs to be well-managed and oriented for economics. One of among other technologies to manage cow dung waste which had never been implemented before is to utilize the waste as the raw material component of brick. Such brick production technology is not only environmentally friendly but is also resistant toward earthquake. This technology was introduced and implemented during the Community Service program at Glagaharjo village. The program was implemented through the methods of assessment and education, as well as feasibility test. Training and practice were conducted to adopt the technology of environmentally friendly and earthquake resistant cow dung brick. Further, the product was tested for its feasibility as construction material. The success of the program is shown from the society’s ability to produce the environmentally friendly and earthquake resistant brick which has also increased society’s income and the hamlet’s economy

Abstract

Ngaran Hamlet, an area in Gilangharjo Village, Pandak District, Bantul Regency, DIY, has a Women Farmers Group (KWT), "Sido Makmur," which is engaged in oyster mushroom cultivation. One of the challenges KWT "Sido Makmur" faces is the fluctuation and instability of oyster mushroom production due to environmental conditions around the mushroom barn, which are not always ideal. To overcome this, the Community Service Team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), carried out Community Service activities under the Community Partnership (PKM) scheme. This service aims to assist KWT "Sido Makmur" in facing the challenges of oyster mushroom production by designing and implementing Appropriate Technology in the form of a temperature and humidity monitoring system in mushroom barns based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The service team's programs and activities include planning, designing, implementing, testing, and analyzing the IoT technology-based mushroom monitoring system for temperature and humidity. This system allows oyster mushroom farmers in Ngaran Hamlet to monitor the condition of the mushroom coop in real-time and remotely via the IoT platform to increase the productivity of oyster mushrooms optimally. The results of the implementation and testing of the system show that the monitoring tool for temperature and humidity in the IoT-based mushroom barn has been proven to function properly in accordance with the design planning and expectations of oyster mushroom farmers in Ngaran Hamlet.

Abstract

This study investigates comprehensive assessment of LTE-Advanced network performance in urban environment of Sudirman Road and Malioboro Road, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study aims to measure and assess the performance or quality of the LTE-Advanced network based on the Quality of Service (QoS) and Signal Strength parameters using the drive test measurements data collection method. This study analyses signal strength parameters (RSRP and RSRQ) and quality of service metrics (delay and jitter) across two prominent operators, Smartfren and Telkomsel. Our investigation unveils robust signal strength from both operators at Sudirman Road, with Smartfren demonstrating notable superiority in RSRQ. Similarly, at the Malioboro Road, both operators exhibit commendable RSRP, with Smartfren maintaining a marginal advantage. In terms of quality of service, our findings affirm that both Smartfren and Telkomsel consistently deliver low latency and maintain satisfactory jitter levels, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity experiences for users. While Telkomsel typically leads in delay performance, Smartfren showcases superior jitter performance at specific points at Sudirman Road. Conversely, at Malioboro Road, Telkomsel outperforms Smartfren in both delay and jitter metrics. These insights offer invaluable guidance for network optimization strategies, empowering operators to enhance service quality and enrich connectivity for the users in Yogyakarta. Furthermore, our study contributes to the broader understanding of LTE-Advanced network performance, emphasizing the significance of signal strength and quality of service parameters in ensuring optimal user experiences in urban environments.
