Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ability of self-efficacy using the jigsaw cooperative model, including (1) student self-efficacy after jigsaw cooperative learning and (2) the level of active student activity during the learning process. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects in this study were 34 students of X-IPA2 N 1 PAGARAN and the object of this research was the students' self-efficacy abilities and active student activities. The instrument used consisted of a self-efficacy questionnaire, student activity observation sheets, and interview guidelines. Data analysis used the Mile and Huberman model. The results showed that the self-efficacy of 34 students obtained high self-efficacy of 26.47%, moderate self-efficacy of 61.76% and low self-efficacy of 11.76%. Overall self-efficacy of students is 73.31 in the medium category. Conclusions, based on the data obtained, students' thinking processes on abilities; 1) The self-efficacy of SMA N 1 PAGARAN students after jigsaw type cooperative learning is good; 2) The overall percentage of active student activities used during teaching and learning activities is within the specified ideal time tolerance interval. Keywords: active student activity, ability, jigsaw cooperative type, self-efficacy

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by GeoGebra on students' mathematical reasoning skills in statistics material in class X at SMKN 6 Medan. The research employed a quasi-experimental method, with a population consisting of all grade X students divided into 8 classes. The sample was selected using cluster random sampling, resulting in class X MPLB 1 as the experimental group and class X TKKR 2 as the control group. Data were collected using a mathematical reasoning skills test. Data analysis using normality, homogeneity, and t-tests showed a significant difference between the post-test scores of mathematical reasoning skills in the two classes, with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05. The average post-test score of the experimental class reached 53.50, while the control class was 45.50, indicating that the mathematical reasoning skills of students taught with the RME approach assisted by GeoGebra were higher than those taught with conventional learning. Based on the Effect Size (Cohen's d) calculation, a value of 0.633 was obtained, which means that the use of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by GeoGebra provides a contribution or effect in the medium category to students' mathematical reasoning skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ethnomathematics-based learning using the Marsitekka game on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding in geometry transformation material for Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 6 Medan. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a population consisting of all Grade XI MPLB students, comprising three classes. The sample was determined through cluster random sampling, resulting in class XI MPLB 3 as the experimental class and class XI MPLB 1 as the control class. Data were collected using a conceptual understanding test. Data analysis included normality, homogeneity test, and t-test showed a difference in posttest scores of conceptual understanding between the two classes, with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0,023, which is less than 0,05 at a 5% significance level. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 66.93, while the control class was 60,10, indicating that students’ mathematical conceptual understanding was in the good category. Based on the calculation of Effect Size (Cohen’s d), the value obtained was 0,603, which indicates that ethnomathematics learning through the Marsitekka game has a moderate effect on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding
