Abstract

Background: Leptospirosis is an acute infectious disease that can attack humans and animals caused by the Leptospira bacteria. Leptospirosis contributes to morbidity and mortality in the high-risk group, namely adults. Compliance with the use of personal protective equipment and direct contact with animal tissue infected with Leptospira sp. bacteria increase the risk of leptospirosis. This study aims to analyze the magnitude of the effect of using personal protective equipment on the risk of leptospirosis with a meta-analysis.Subjects and Method: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis carried out by following the PRISMA flow diagram. The process of searching for articles is through a journal database which includes: PubMed, Springer Link, Google Scholar and Science Direct by selecting articles published in 1999-2020. Keywords used "Leptospirosis AND Personal Protective Equipment", "leptospirosis" AND "risk factors", "leptospirosis AND adjusted odds ratio", "leptospirosis" AND "adults", "leptospirosis AND risk factors AND adjusted odds ratio". The inclusion criteria were full paper articles with observational study design, articles in English and Indonesian, multivariate analysis used with adjusted odds ratio. Articles that meet the requirements are analyzed using the Revmen 5.3 application. Results: A total of 8 articles were reviewed in this study with a cross-sectional and case-control study design. Meta-analysis of 4 case-control studies showed that non-adherence to the use of personal protective equipment had a 2.77 times increased risk of leptospirosis compared with using personal protective equipment (aOR= 2.77, 95% CI= 1.76 to 4.36, p <0.001). A meta-analysis of 4 cross-sectional studies concluded that non-adherence to the use of personal protective equipment had a 2.73 times increased risk of leptospirosis compared with using personal protective equipment (aOR= 2.73, 95% CI= 1.99 to 3.74; p= <0.001).Conclusion: Non-compliance with the use of personal protective equipment increases the risk of leptospirosis. Keywords: leptospirosis, personal protective equipment, meta-analysisCorrespondence: Rizki Kurniawan Saputra. Abstract

Background: The main nutritional problem in children under five, which is still found in many countries in the world, is stunting. The relationship between risk factors for low birth weight (LBW) in children has been investigated in several primary studies with a number of contradictions in the results. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of low birth weight (LBW) on the incidence of stunting in children under 60 months in various countries using the meta-analysis method. Subjects and Method: The articles were selected from the Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of Science, Microsoft Academic, and Science Direct databases published from 2000-2021. Article collection for 2 months with search keywords (“Low Birth Weight” OR “LBW”) AND “Stunting” AND (“adjusted odds ratio” OR “multivariable”). The meta-analysis step used is a PRISMA flowchart. Data analysis was carried out using the Review Manager 5.3 . program. Results: Based on 11 primary studies conducted in Brazil, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, it was shown that in a cross-sectional study LBW could increase the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-60 months by 3.64 times compared to non-LBW (aOR = 3.64; 95% CI = 2.70). up to 4.90; p<0.001). While the case-control study showed that LBW can increase the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-60 months as much as 6.95 times compared to non-LBW (aOR = 6.95; 95% CI = 4.02 to 12.04; p<0.001). Conclusion: Low birth weight increases the risk of stunting in the population of children under 60 months of age.

Abstract

Based on data from the Electronic Community-Basd Nutrition Recording and Reporting System (E-PPGBM) in Magelang Regency, the stunting rate decreased from 20.23% in 2020 to 14.76% in 2021 and further decline to 13.11% in 2022. However, in 2023 the rate increased again to 15.22%. Specifically, in Sawangan District as of November 2024, the stunting rate reached 19.7% with a total of 567 cases. Sawangan Village alone recorded a prevalence of 20.61%, accounting for 40 cases. The low intake of fruits and vegetables among children, along with cases of malnutrition in Wulung Hamlet, Soronalan Village, Sawangan District, Magelang Regency, became the main driving factors for organizing this series of interactive programs. These programs consist of nutrition food preparation sessions, nutritious food distribution, and socialization of the “Isi Piringku” concept. The aim of these programs is to encourage healthy and appealing food alternatives for children and to introduce the “Isi Piringku” module to help them better understand the concept of balanced nutrition. The Residents of Wulung Hamlet respnded very positively to the implemtation of these interactive programs as a part of the ffort to prevent stunting among children.
