Abstract

Background: The main nutritional problem in children under five, which is still found in many countries in the world, is stunting. The relationship between risk factors for low birth weight (LBW) in children has been investigated in several primary studies with a number of contradictions in the results. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of low birth weight (LBW) on the incidence of stunting in children under 60 months in various countries using the meta-analysis method. Subjects and Method: The articles were selected from the Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of Science, Microsoft Academic, and Science Direct databases published from 2000-2021. Article collection for 2 months with search keywords (“Low Birth Weight” OR “LBW”) AND “Stunting” AND (“adjusted odds ratio” OR “multivariable”). The meta-analysis step used is a PRISMA flowchart. Data analysis was carried out using the Review Manager 5.3 . program. Results: Based on 11 primary studies conducted in Brazil, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, it was shown that in a cross-sectional study LBW could increase the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-60 months by 3.64 times compared to non-LBW (aOR = 3.64; 95% CI = 2.70). up to 4.90; p<0.001). While the case-control study showed that LBW can increase the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-60 months as much as 6.95 times compared to non-LBW (aOR = 6.95; 95% CI = 4.02 to 12.04; p<0.001). Conclusion: Low birth weight increases the risk of stunting in the population of children under 60 months of age.

Abstract

Abstract

Antenatal depression or depression in pregnant women is influenced by various factors, one of which is the stressor of the social life of the household life, such as domestic violence. Domestic abuse during pregnancy has a negative impact on the mother's health as well as the newborn's and the child's development. The purpose of this study is to determine how much domestic violence affects antenatal depression. This study uses a meta-analytic study design from articles published from 2008 to 2022 using the Google Scholar, PubMed, Springer Link, and ScienceDirect databases. Articles are collected for 2 months by keywords (“Intimate Partner Violence” OR “IPV” OR “Domestic Violence”) AND “Antenatal Depression” OR “Antepartum Depression” AND (“adjusted odds ratio” OR “multivariable”). The articles used are articles that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were 14 articles from 3 continents namely Asia, Africa, and North America with cross sectional and cohort study designs. Cross-sectional meta-analysis shows that domestic violence can increase the incidence of antenatal depression by 3.97 times compared by not experiencing domestic violence (aOR= 3.97; 95% CI= 2.44 to 6.47; p<0.001). Meanwhile, the cohort study showed that domestic violence can increase the incidence of antenatal depression by 2.58 times compared to not experiencing domestic violence (aOR= 2.58; 95% CI= 2.06 to 3.23; p<0.001). Total heterogeneity shows I2 = 81%, such that it can be said that the data distribution is heterogeneous (random effect model). Domestic violence can increase the incidence of antenatal depression.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease in which the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use insulin effectively. Diabetes is the cause of the largest increase in male deaths among the 10 leading causes of death, with an 80% increase since 2000. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and family support with dietary compliance in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Kayon Health Center, Palangka Raya City. This study is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. This study was conducted on 52 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Kayon Health Center who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi Square test. The results showed knowledge p-value = 0.670 > 0.05, which means there is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and dietary compliance. Not always people who have good knowledge will adhere to the diet because of the inability of respondents to control eating behavior and food selection, which is not entirely based on the concept of knowledge they have. The study showed a knowledge p-value = 0.034 <0.05, which means there is a significant relationship between family support and dietary compliance. Social support from the family is one of the factors that is closely related to the level of patient compliance in carrying out the diet program
