Abstract

The increasing number of deaths and the rising risk of complications underscore the importance of managing and controlling hypertension. Knowledge and adherence to hypertension management are crucial factors in controlling blood pressure and its complications. Patient compliance in managing hypertension is vital to prevent potentially fatal complications. However, insufficient knowledge about prevention can impact adherence levels. This study aims to explore the relationship between hypertension knowledge and adherence to complication prevention among hypertensive patients in Cimanggung Village. This was quantitative observational analytic research with a cross-sectional approach involving 95 respondents in Cimanggung Village. The sampling technique used proportional random sampling method. The research instruments used are the hypertension knowledge level scale questionnaire and the hypertension complication prevention adherence questionnaire. The Spearman-Rank statistical test resulted in a p-value of 0.023 (p<0.05), indicating that there is a relationship between knowledge and compliance with hypertension complication prevention. Better knowledge about hypertension correlates with improved adherence to complication prevention measures. The majority of respondents have good knowledge and are mostly adherent to complication prevention measures. Increasing knowledge is expected to enhance patients' compliance in adhering to treatment and preventing complications. The suggestion of this research is to conduct a directed and sustainable education program to the people of Cimanggung Village about the importance of managing hypertension and preventing its complications

Abstract

Stunting is a serious nutritional problem that affects the nation's productivity. Apart from being caused by toddlers' inadequate nutritional intake, inadequate family education also causes stunting’s increases. Family education about a toddler’s nutritional intake is not only the mother's responsibility, but there is a posyandu cadre’s role as the closest group to conveying information.  This study aims to determine the differences between posyandu cadre’s role in educating about toddler nutritional needs at high and low stunting areas. It’s located in Sumedang as West Java highest stunting area, specifically in Margamukti as a low and Mulyasari Village as a high stunting area. This comparative study is quantitative research used a cross-sectional design and total sampling technique with 70 respondents which divide into 35 respondents in low stunting area and 35 respondents in high stunting area. The sample criteria were posyandu cadres who registered at the village office. Data was collected by paper and analyzed by Mann Whitney test. The results show that there is significant difference in the frequency and method of educational activity with p-value 0,001 and 0,008 < a = 0,05, so there are no other differences were found that could indicate a comparison of cadres role at high and low stunting areas. Researchers recommend the educational frequency and method at low stunting areas can be adopted at high stunting areas.

Abstract

The most common non-communicable disease suffered by individuals in the world is hypertension. One of the provinces in West Java with the highest prevalence rate of hypertension is Sumedang Regency which is ranked 4th. Traditional plants such as green grass jelly and Pandan leaf can be used in herbal medicine to treat hypertension. The aim of this study was to compare blood pressure before and after being given green grass jelly (Premna oblongifolia Merr) and pandan leaf decoction for hypertension sufferers. Studyquasi experiment with a planpre test and post test nonequivalent control group design. The sample taken based on inclusion and exclusion criteria was 24 people. Sample selection uses techniquespurposive sampling. Data analysis techniques using statistical testspaired t test andindependent t test. Resultstestpaired t test shows a p value < 0,05 meansthere was a decrease after being given the intervention in both groups. Resultstestt-independent showing p value blood pressure systolic and diastolic > 0,05 meansThere is no significant difference between green grass jelly and boiled pandan leaves in reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers. The conclusion was that there was no difference in effectiveness between green grass jelly (Premna oblongifolia Merr) and pandan leaf decoction to reduce blood pressure in hypertension sufferers.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major challenge worldwide, both in developed and developing countries, and is the leading contributor to non-communicable disease-related deaths. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of finger grip relaxation therapy on blood pressure in pre-elderly individuals with hypertension in Licin Village. The research employs a quantitative method with a Pre-Experimental One Group Pre-post test design. It was conducted by first observing the variables before the intervention, and then measuring them again after the intervention using a sphygmomanometer. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 10 respondents who met the study's inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed that the average systolic blood pressure decreased by 10.00 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure decreased by 5.00 mmHg after the intervention. Based on the t-Test, a significant value of 0.000 was obtained for systolic blood pressure and 0.008 for diastolic blood pressure, leading to the conclusion that finger grip relaxation therapy effectively lowers blood pressure in pre-elderly individuals with hypertension in Licin Village. It is hoped that respondents will continue to practice finger grip relaxation therapy in accordance with the guidelines provided during the research, namely in a relaxed state while taking deep breaths twice a day in the morning and evening for five consecutive days.
