Abstract

Nanas (Ananas comosus) merupakan tanaman hortikultura yang dibudidayakan terbanyak urutan kedua di Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Hal ini sejalan dengan peningkatan produksi limbah kulit nanas. Sehingga, limbah kulit nanas berpotensi untuk diaplikasikan sebagai material maju. Penelitian sebelumnya melaporkan bahwa ekstrak kulit nanas direkomendasikan sebagai antioksidan dan antibakteri. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan limbah kulit nanas sebagai eco-enzyme yang selanjutnya diaplikasikan sebagai bahan pembuatan sabun antiseptik. Selain itu, aplikasi eco-enzyme ini juga disosialisasikan kepada siswa SMAN 1 Bangkalan. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi, aplikasi, dan evaluasi. Hasil aplikasi kegiatan pengabdian diperoleh produk sabun antiseptik berbahan eco-enzyme dengan hasil uji organoleptik rata-rata sebanyak 36,43% responden menyatakan suka dengan warna, penampilan, kualitas bersih, dan busa. Kemudian, sebanyak 31,43% responden menilai netral terhadap aroma; 28,57% responden menilai agak suka dengan kelembaban; dan 31,43% responden menyatakan sangat suka dengan kekesatan sabun berbahan eco-enzyme ini. Hasil sosialisasi pengabdian diperoleh peningkatan pengetahuan responden hingga mencapai 76,11%. Hasil tersebut juga didukung dengan evaluasi kegiatan pengabdian diperoleh hasil evaluasi sangat baik terkait kebermanfaatan (80,56%); penyampaian materi (55,56%); peningkatan pengetahuan (69,44%); dan aplikasi atau keberlanjutan program (41,67%). Dengan demikian, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berpotensi untuk dikembangkan dan dilanjutkan.

Abstract

Kebijakan merupakan suatu kumpulan keputusan yang diambil oleh seorang pelaku atau kelompok politik dalam usaha memilih tujuan-tujuan dan cara-cara untuk mencapai tujuan. Kebijakan pemerintah terkait pemotongan sapi di Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) berkaitan dengan perlindungan konsumen, yaitu manajemen ASUH (Aman, Sehat, Utuh, dan Halal) dan prinsip HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) dengan identifikasi titik-titik kritis tahap penanganan dan proses produksi sudah dibentuk beberapa aturan kebijakan. Dalam prosesnya, masih ditemui beberapa kendala, seperti kebersihan kualitas daging, RPH yang kurang bersih, ataupun kontaminasi silang saat pemotongan daging sampai pengepakannya. Kebijakan tersebut perlu diimbangi dengan edukasi dari tingkat RPH paling tradisional atau pada para peternak tentang pentingnya perlindungan konsumen. Contoh program kebijakan pemerintah yang dilaksanakan adalah Good Farming Practice untuk menghasilkan ternak potong yang sehat dan berkualitas. Namun, hal tersebut perlu diimbangi dengan pembentukan pengawas pangan (food inspector) dan riset untuk mendukung kebijakan tersebut agar berjalan baik. Tujuan dari jurnal review ini adalah untuk membantu pihak RPH mendapat pedoman yang sesuai kebijakan pemotongan sapi di RPH sebagai upaya perlindungan konsumen. Pencarian database yang digunakan termasuk Jurnal Veteriner, Jurnal Kesehatan Masyarakat, Jurnal Vektor Penyakit, Jurnal Studi Kasus, Jurnal, Medik Veteriner, Jurnal SainVet, Jurnal Ilmu Lingkungan, Jurnal Aplikasi Manajemen Bisnis, Jurnal Peternakan, Jurnal Teknik Industri dan Jurnal Pengkajian Teknologi. Kata kunci yang digunakan dalam pencarian artikel, yaitu kebijakan kualitas daging, rumah potong hewan, pemotongan sapi, manajemen halal, HACCP, SNI, peternakan sapi, mikroorganisme, ISO, limbah RPH. Terdapat 30 artikel yang diperoleh dan 19 artikel dianalisis melalui analisis tujuan, kesesuaian topik, metode penelitian yang digunakan, ukuran sampel, etik penelitian, hasil dari setiap artikel, serta keterbatasan yang terjadi.

Abstract

Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco) is one of the most commercially agricultural crops in the world. Indonesia is one of the top ten tobacco producing countries in the world since 1990’s. Based on literature studies, tobacco has the main secondary metabolites such as cembranoids and flavonoids. They have fine biological activities as antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-HIV, anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, anti-termite, and cytotoxicity effects. Therefore, N. tabacum is potential for further investigation on natural products research. This review aims to provide scientific evidences related to structure activity relationship between secondary metabolites and biological activities of N. tabacum.

Abstract

Nicotiana tabacum, recognized as tobacco, has been reported its secondary metabolites and biological activities in the past decade. Madura is one of the islands in Indonesia that produces N. tabacum rapidly. In Madura, N. tabacum is called as bhekoh. Previously, antioxidant activity of N. tabacum leaves extracts has been reported. However, the extracts showed very low antioxidant activity due to low of the stock concentration. Accordingly, this research was aimed at the antibacterial and antioxidant evaluation of N. tabacum leaves from Madura with improvement of the concentration. Furthermore, N. tabacum leaves were extracted by using different solvents including n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, acetone, and methanol. The extracts have been evaluated their antibacterial activities by using colorimetric resazurin microtiter assay (REMA) method. The extracts have been assayed their antibacterial activities against both gram-positive and negative bacteria. While, the antioxidant evaluation has been determined by using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) method. The result showed that the extracts have fine antibacterial and antioxidant activities. The methanol extract presented antioxidant activity with IC50 of 12.12 ppm compared to gallic acid as a standard. Furthermore, the acetone extract showed the highest antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis, Propionibacterium acnes, and Salmonella typhi with MIC of 0.31, 0.63, and 0.63 mg/mL, respectively, compared to ampicillin as a standard. In conclusion, the acetone and methanol extracts have the highest antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Therefore, our result suggested acetone and methanol extracts of N. tabacum leaves as antibacterial and antioxidant agents.

Abstract

TOGA diversification is to increase variety of herbal products for their quality, acceptance, and economic value. In Indonesia, TOGA, known as herbs or jamu, is not only used as traditional medicine, but also used as a health supplement to maintain body immunity. Therefore, the community service team strives to improve public health through TOGA diversification training. The targets are high school students who are members of the MPS Botany group of SMAN 1 Bangkalan. The aim of this program is to increase the health independence of targets through TOGA diversification training. The methods are divided into several steps including the preparation, implementation, namely training and workshop, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests and satisfaction surveys. The implemented diversification training has been able to improve the knowledge and skills of targets to produce TOGA made from turmeric into a variety of products including fresh drinks, instant powders, and contemporary drinks. Based on the results of data analysis, 77% of participants experienced an increase in knowledge based on an increase in post-test scores. Then, 68 and 58% of participants respectively assessed the benefits and sustainability of the program as very good. Thus, TOGA diversification training activities are recommended to be continued and developed. This program is expected to be able to improve the health independence of high school students in the future.

Abstract

Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that lives in 70% of the human body, such as the gastrointestinal, genital and urinary tracts. Activities in Kindergarten (TK) like eating and drinking sweets, tasting friends' food and drinks in one container can allow the transmission and growth of candida in the mouth area. The pathogenic C. albicans can grow at 39°C and form a biofilm. This research aimed to determine the effect of temperature on the growth of C. albicans and Prevalence of Candidiasis in Early Childhood at Muslimat Tanjung Bumi Kindergarten, Bangkalan. The research method uses a cross-sectional design. The sample was saliva and oral swabs. The number of samples used was 40 samples. Based on research results, C. albicans can grow at an incubation temperature of 39°C is 5 samples out of a total of 16 C. albicans samples and the prevalence rate of candidiasis is 31.25%. Keywords:          Candida albicans, Kindergarten, Saliva   Abstrak Candida albicans merupakan salah satu jamur patogen oportunistik yang hidup pada 70% bagian tubuh manusia seperti pada saluran cerna, genital dan urinari. Aktivitas yang ada di Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK) seperti kebiasaan makan dan minum yang manis, mencicipi makanan dan minuman teman dalam satu wadah dapat memungkinkan terjadi penularan dan pertumbuhan candida pada daerah mulut. C. albicans patogen mampu tumbuh pada suhu 39°C dan membentuk biofilm. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui pengaruh suhu terhadap pertumbuhan C. albicans dan kejadian Kandidiasis pada Anak Usia Dini di TK Muslimat Tanjung Bumi, Bangkalan. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain cross sectional. Sumber sampel adalah saliva dan swab daerah mulut anak usia dini dengan rentang usia 4-5 tahun di TK Muslimat Tanjang Bumi Bangkalan. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 40 sampel. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian C. albicans yang dapat tumbuh pada suhu inkubasi 39°C adalah 5 sampel dari total 16 sampel C. albicans dan Angka prevalensi kandidiasis adalah 31,25%.
