Abstract

Worms is an endemic, chronic and zoonotic disease. Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) are a class of worms that can cause worm infections. STH infection can be transmitted to humans in various ways, one of which is through worm eggs attached to dirty fingernails so that it can pose a risk to health. This study aims to identify STH intestinal nematode eggs on fingernails using the flotation method. This type of research is a descriptive analysis using a laboratory approach method. 20 samples were taken by purposive sampling in four different animal care centers and then identified by the floating method. From the identification results, it was found that 10% of STH intestinal nematode eggs were contaminated on fingernails using the floatation method and 90% were not contaminated with STH intestinal nematode eggs. The types of worm eggs found were Trichuris sp and Hookworm. It is recommended that workers be able to maintain cleanliness of fingernails and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) before starting work.

Abstract

ABSTRACT             The prevalence of tropical-transmitted infectious diseases in the tropics is still high. In Indonesia the nematode species that become health problems are Ascaris lumbricoides, hookworm, Trichuris triciura, Strongiloides stercoralis. Source of transmission of worms through soil, mud, and water used as a vegetable cultivation. Cabbage is a vegetable commonly consumed by the people of Indonesia as fresh vegetables or eaten raw and some are consumed cooked or processed first. This is the threat of infection of intestinal nematode eggs. The purpose of this research was to know the existence of intestine nematode worms in cabbage vegetables (Brassica oleracea) raw and cooked.             The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative with sedimentation principle with 0.2% NaOH. A total of 40 samples were examined and from observation in Pasar Baru Gresik year 2017.            There were contamination of intestinal nematode eggs in raw vegetable cabbage (25%) and mature cabbage vegetables (5%). The proportion of Ascaris lumbricoides egg species (87.5%) and Trichuris trichiura (12.5%).             Washing factor becomes the main thing of contamination of intestinal worms egg nematode although vegetable cabbage eaten raw or already processed still there are intestinal nematode eggs. Keywords: Intestinal Nematodes, Vegetables (Brassica oleracea), Ascaris lumbricoides, Tricuris trichiura, 0.2% NaOH solution.DOI : 10.5281/zenodo.1401052

Abstract

Katsuwonus pelamis has a delicious taste and has a much needed nutritional content, especially for pregnant women because it contains high protein and is very rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Skipjack tuna that lives in Indonesian waters is very susceptible to infection with diseases and parasites which can also have an impact on human health. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of endoparasites in skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) in Bangkalan traditional markets as an effort to prevent allergic events in pregnant women. This study was conducted using 25 fresh Katsuwonus pelamis randomly selected from 8 store stalls in the Bangkalan Tradional Market and then observing for endoparasites and calculating their prevalence. The identification results showed that there were endoparasites of Anisakis simplex species. The endoparasite infection rate was quite high, reaching 45.83%, which means it attacked 11 fish out of 25 samples of Katsuwonus pelamis examined. These results are above normal. So that pregnant women are advised to be more careful in choosing fresh fish at the Bangkalan Traditional Market.

Abstract

Personal hygiene comes from the Greek, derived from the word 'personal' which means individual and 'hygiene' which means healthy. Personal hygiene is an action to maintain the cleanliness and health of a person for both physical and psychological well-being. Types of personal hygiene include skin, foot, hand and nail hygiene, hair care, oral and dental care, eye, ear and nose care. The purpose of personal hygiene care is to improve one's health status, maintain one's personal hygiene, improve personal hygiene that is lacking, prevent disease, increase one's self-confidence and create beauty. One disease that is quite closely related to personal hygiene is worms and fungal infections (mycosis). In rural communities where the majority of the population work as farmers who are directly in close contact with the soil which is the breeding medium for STH, of course, personal hygiene is very necessary so that they are not easily infected with STH. Another thing that needs to be considered is the environmental conditions in the community in the village, namely the distance between the house and the stables for livestock such as cows which are very close together. The close distance between the house and the livestock cage also has the potential to transmit parasites if the livestock feces are not cleaned regularly. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to conduct counseling on personal hygiene and environmental sanitation in the community as well as identify the presence of worm infection in nail samples in villagers which on this occasion will take place in Tragah District. There were 26 participants identified with STH infection and 14 participants not identified with STH infection

Abstract

Dengue fever or dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease caused by infection with the dengue virus. This virus enters the human body through the bite of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which live in tropical and subtropical regions. It is estimated that there are at least 50 million cases of dengue fever worldwide each year. According to data compiled by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, dengue fever has been an endemic disease in Indonesia since 1968. Since then, this disease has become one of the main problems in Indonesia, with the spread and number of sufferers tending to increase every year. Throughout 2017, it is known that there were around 59,000 cases of dengue fever throughout Indonesia, with more than 400 cases of which ended in death. Due to the large population, the Provinces of Central Java and East Java contributed the most cases of DHF for 2017, which was more than 7000 cases in each province. Mosquito traps are simple mosquito traps made of mineral water plastic cups or mineral water bottles filled with a coffee solution and lemongrass slices as an ingredient to attract mosquitoes. Mosquito traps are ready to be used for 10 to 14 days and placed in places where there are suspected to be a lot of mosquitoes. Based on the results of community service in your village, it is known that 40 people are very enthusiastic about the Mosquito trap program by providing several examples of mosquito traps through PKK and Posyandu women. So the main focus in maintaining cleanliness in the family is to provide knowledge to a mother as the implementation of the 3M movement in the family, namely by maintaining a good home environment for her family, implementing the 3M movement simultaneously.

Abstract

Tinea unguinum is a common condition that begins as a yellow spot or spot under the tip of the fingernail or toenail. A severe fungal infection can cause the nail to blacken, thicken, and crumble at the edges. This infection can affect some nails but usually not all nails are infected. If the fungal infection of the nail is still relatively mild, it does not require treatment. But sometimes a nail fungus infection can cause pain and thickening of the nail that requires treatment and medication. Nail infections can attack someone who works or is in direct contact with a humid and dirty environment such as farmers and. Farming is one of the livelihoods of the people in Tragah Village, Bangkalaan Regency. Farmers work in the fields/fields that are in contact with soil, water and mud for a long time without using gloves and boots to protect their hands and feet from soil, water and mud so that the hands and feet of farmers are moist and even farmers rarely pay attention to the cleanliness of their nails so that they often leave the toenails on the thumb filled with dirt and the fingernails turn dark, thickened, the nails are barely shaped like normal even some of the growers have a foul smell. From the problem seen, the writer suspects that the farmer's nails are infected with fungus. The purpose of this study is to determine the fungal infection that causes systemic disease. The research method used in this study is descriptive by using a systematic random sampling technique of 150 respondents and 30 samples were used. The method of examination used mushroom culture.
