Abstract

When it comes to palm oil, Indonesia dominates the global market. However, the European Union Parliament’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED) policy created roadblocks for the Indonesian palm oil industry’s European exports because the product did not adhere to sustainability principles. In 2009, Indonesia adopted the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) policy in response to the European Union’s RED. This policy aims to promote sustainable practices on oil palm plantations. The government of Indonesia is likewise working to increase ISPO’s visibility abroad. Regarding Indonesian provinces, West Kalimantan has the third-largest area dedicated to oil palm plantations. However, only a few palm oil producers have obtained ISPO certification. This study aims to determine why the ISPO policy was ineffective in West Kalimantan by examining the challenges of enforcing the policy through the lenses of sustainable development and policy implementation. A descriptive qualitative method was applied, with data gathered through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Non-specific policy substance, information restrictions, governmental policies not supporting implementation, and probable distribution problems among the parties engaged in execution were only a few factors this study cited impeding the ISPO policy implementation in West Kalimantan.

Abstract

Program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Padang di Nagari Tanjung Labuah, Kabupaten Sijunjung, menghadirkan inovasi ecobrick sebagai solusi pengelolaan limbah plastik. Menghadapi keterbatasan fasilitas pengelolaan sampah dan kebiasaan masyarakat membuang sampah secara sembarangan, mahasiswa mengedukasi warga untuk memanfaatkan limbah plastik non-organik dengan cara memadatkannya ke dalam botol bekas. Ecobrick yang dihasilkan dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan dekoratif atau konstruksi simbolik nagari. Inisiatif ini tidak hanya mengurangi volume sampah dan biaya pengelolaannya, tetapi juga meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap isu lingkungan serta mendorong penerapan prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) secara aktif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Learning media serve as an essential component in supporting effective learning processes in elementary schools. However, their implementation is influenced by several factors, including teachers' planning, school support, the availability of learning facilities, and students' characteristics. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of learning media in supporting the learning process in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 7 Metro Pusat. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants consisted of the school principal, one fourth-grade teacher, and four fourth-grade students who were purposively selected as the research participants. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the use of learning media had been planned during the preparation of teaching modules and adjusted to the learning objectives and characteristics of the subject matter. Teachers integrated both concrete and digital media into classroom instruction, while the school supported their implementation through the provision of learning facilities, teacher training, and academic supervision. The main challenges included the limited availability of digital learning media and differences in students' participation during classroom activities. Effective implementation of learning media requires teacher readiness, school support, and the appropriate use of learning media based on instructional needs.
