Abstract

The development of information technology encourages Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adapt to digital marketing, one of which is through the utilization of Instagram. Although this platform has great potential in accelerating product reach, many MSMEs have not optimized it in an integrated manner in terms of content management and Instagram social media production. This research is motivated by the problems faced by Surya Jaya, an MSME in Demak, which experienced marketing stagnation due to the use of promotional media that lacked layout redesign. An evaluation of the partner's Instagram account revealed a low engagement rate, the absence of communicative content pillars, as well as a monotonous brand visual character that lacked a consistent layout design. Therefore, this research aims to design an Instagram social media management strategy that can support the promotion of the Surya Jaya MSME. The focus of the improvement includes redesigning the visual interface layout on Surya Jaya's Instagram account. The results of this research are expected to provide effective digital marketing management guidelines, produce significant promotional and sales designs, and be able to improve the brand image and expand the sales reach of the Surya Jaya MSME.

Abstract

Film posters serve as visual communication media that establish a film's identity while conveying meaning through visual elements. This study aims to analyze the visual development of the Ant-Man trilogy posters, consisting of Ant-Man (2015), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with documentation as the data collection technique using the official posters of the Ant-Man trilogy. The analysis focused on three visual elements, namely composition, visual hierarchy, and color, which were interpreted through the levels of denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings indicate that the Ant-Man trilogy posters demonstrate a visual development that reflects changes in visual communication strategies and the construction of meaning across each film. This development is reflected in increasingly complex compositions, the evolution of visual hierarchy from a single focal point to a layered structure, and the use of color that adapts to the progression of the narrative. From a semiotic perspective, these changes represent a shift in meaning from individual heroism to collaboration and ultimately to collective heroism in confronting increasingly complex conflicts. These findings suggest that the visual development of the posters not only follows the progression of the film narrative but also functions as a visual communication strategy for constructing identity and meaning throughout the Ant-Man trilogy.

Abstract

PT. Voyager Academy International is a Job Training Institution (Lembaga Pelatihan Kerja/LPK) specializing in the international cruise ship and hospitality industries. As a newly established institution, the company has not yet developed a visual identity capable of representing its character in a professional and consistent manner. Therefore, designing a visual identity is considered essential to strengthen the company's corporate image. This study aims to design the visual identity of PT. Voyager Academy International through the development of a logo, color palette, and typography that reflect the company's characteristics. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review as data collection techniques. The collected data were analyzed using the 5W+1H method, while the design process followed Robin Landa's 5 Phases of Graphic Design Process, consisting of Orientation, Analysis and Strategy, Conceptual Design, Design Development, and Implementation. The result of this study is a new visual identity in the form of a monogram logo that combines cruise ship elements, ocean waves, and the initials VAI to symbolize the journey toward a global career. The visual identity is supported by a color palette, typography, grid system, logo usage guidelines, and its implementation across various corporate media, including uniforms, ID cards, lanyards, and stationery. The proposed visual identity is expected to strengthen the corporate image of PT. Voyager Academy International as a professional, recognizable, and trustworthy job training institution.
