Abstract

Lemongrass traditionally can be used as a mixture of water bath for rheumatic patients, antiseptic medicine, headache reducer, unbend the leech bite and overcome insect bite, but, the bioactivity potential of citronella lemongrass still remains unknown. The content of citronella lemongrass is known to have secondary metabolites such as flavanoid, phenolic, and terpenoid. The aim of this study is to determine the LC50 value (Lethality Concentration 50) in the root, stem, and leaves part of citronella lemongrass. Citronella lemongrass is extracted with maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Rendement value of leaf extract is greater than the value of stem and root extract, which is equal to 8.69% for stem extract, 3.73% for root extract and 9.70% for leaves extract. A toxicity test was performed by using the BSLT method, shrimp larvae were inserted into the test solution with each different solution concentration. LC50 values were obtained based on the calculation of percent mortality of shrimp larvae by using probit analysis. LC50 ethanol extract 96% of citronella lemongrass leaf is 67.841 μg/ml, citronella lemongrass stem is 31.604 μg/ml and citronella lemongrass root is 10.489 μg/ml. LC50 value shows that ethanol extract 96% of root, stem, and leaf of citronella lemongrass have no bioactivity potential due to the value of LC50 is greater than 1000 μg/ml. Keywords: BSLT, Cymbopogon nardus, cytotoxicity, LC50

Abstract

Background and purpose: Indonesia ranks the first highest mortality rate of COVID-19 in Southeast Asia with an average case fatality rate (CFR) of 2.7%. South Sumatra is ranked 14th out of 34 provinces in Indonesia, with a CFR value related to COVID-19 reaching 5.1%, per June 21, 2021. This study aims to determine the descriptive epidemiology of COVID-19 in Palembang City. Methods: This research used a descriptive epidemiology approach and spatial analysis with the geographic information system. Then the secondary data were collected from the Palembang City Surveillance Report from March 2020 to February 2021 with a total of 7,423 cases, as well as geographic data on the coordinates of health services for all hospitals and public health centers (PHCs) in Palembang City. Results: The data shows that the age group of 25 to 39 years old dominated the COVID-19 cases. The morbidity and mortality rates in men was higher than women, and much higher at the age of above 60 years old. The most dominant symptom in the deceased COVID-19 patients was shortness of breath and the comorbid history increased the risk of death for patients with COVID-19. The highest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 was found in the sub-district with the highest population, including the PHC of Padang Selasa, Ilir Barat I (393 patients), while the lowest number of cases was reported in Karyajaya PHC, Kertapati (7 patients). Conclusion:This study highlights the need in preventing mature deaths of COVID-19 patients by prioritizing elderlies who suffered from comorbidities at the family level and health services to support the government programs.

Abstract

Tree planting is a form of environmental preservation that needs to be cultivated starting from the environment around Mbuju village through the reforestation movement by planting 10,000 trees consisting of manghuni, white teak, rambutan, jackfruit, durian, chocolate, avocado which involves in this activity community service students and youth youth organizations such as babinsa, babinka, community leaders and local communities. It is hoped that the movement of 10,000 trees will be able to create the first step in public awareness to care about the environment. Greening can also change the weather, namely by absorbing carbon dioxide to produce oxygen through the photosynthetic process carried out by the trees. planted to improve air quality and prevent the impact of global warming. The method used is observation or survey. The conclusions from the implementation of the greening program for planting 1000 trees are: (1) Campus stakeholders, in this case students and lecturers at Muhammadiyah University, collaborate with the government, youth organizations and residents of Mbuju village to be directly involved in the program by planting 1000 jackfruit, soursop and rambutan trees. , guava, and durian; (2) The tree planting program has been implemented well, namely planting more than 1000 tree seedlings of jackfruit, soursop, rambutan, guava and durian trees in the spring area of Mbuju.

Abstract

An entrepreneurial mindset is an essential element in shaping the entrepreneurial character of students, especially in the context of higher education based on Islamic values. This mindset encourages students to dare to take risks, think innovatively, and make business activities a means of self-actualisation and worship. This study aims to analyse the influence of peer support on the entrepreneurial mindset of female students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program, STIBA Ar Raayah, Sukabumi. Islamic entrepreneurship is an economic activity and a manifestation of worship based on ethics, justice, and spirituality. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, and data analysis is carried out using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) techniques based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). A total of 23 active female students in the fifth semester were made respondents. The analysis showed that peer support positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial mindset, with a path coefficient of 0.792. These findings confirm the importance of a supportive social environment in shaping student entrepreneurial mindsets. This study recommends strengthening entrepreneurship programmes based on Islamic values through a collabourative approach between students in a higher education environment to create an ecosystem that supports the growth of Muslim entrepreneurs with competitiveness and integrity.
