Abstract

Generally, galleries in Indonesia exhibit local art in traditional to contemporary style, but there is one gallery, the Sophilia Gallery, which is different from other galleries. The gallery displays almost all the works of art in European and Chinese styles and the gallery is permanent. This is an attraction for the general public, of course. The purpose of the discussion about what is the attraction of the gallery is as a means of introducing society in the world of art in particular the art of European and Chinese style. Not only do you know or see the paintings, but you can also know the history of the painting. This research method uses descriptive approaches as well as collection techniques by visiting galleries, viewing works of art, listening to what the tour guide tells, and documentation. There is an informant or tour guide who explains about the history and meaning of the paintings in the gallery. The results of the research showed that the gallery is really attractive, because the number of enders that come is approximately 100 people a day with a variety of purposes not only appreciating, but visitors can learn and create content for personal and public needs. Keywords : Art Criticism, Fine Art Galleries, Paintings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pada umumnya galeri-galeri di Indonesia memajang karya seni lokal berupa gaya tradisi sampai kontemporer, namun ada salah satu galeri yaitu Galeri Sophilia yang berbeda dari galeri lainnya. Galeri tersebut menampilkan hampir keseluruhan karya seni gaya eropa dan cina dan galeri tersebut bersifat tetap. Hal tersebut menjadi sebuah daya tarik bagi masyarakat umum tentunya. Tujuan dari pembahasan mengenai apa yang menjadi daya tarik galeri tersebut yaitu sebagai sarana mengenalkan masyarakat dalam dunia seni khususnya seni gaya eropa dan cina. Bukan hanya mengenal atau melihat lukisan, namun juga bisa mengetahui sejarah yang terdapat pada lukisan tersebut. Metode penelitian ini penulis menggunakan pendekatan deskritif serta teknik pengumpulan dengan mengunjungi galeri, melihat karya-karya seni, mendengarkan apa yang tour guide sampaikan., serta dokumentasi. Terdapat satu informan atau tour guide yang menjelaskan mengenai sejarah dan makna lukisan-lukisan yang ada pada galeri. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa galeri tersebut memang memiliki daya tarik, karena banyaknya pengujung yang datang berjumlah sekitar 100 orang dalam sehari dengan tujuan yang bermacam-macam bukan hanya mengapresiasi, namun pengunjung dapat belajar dan membuat konten untuk kebutuhan pribadi maupun umum. Abstract

Gratifikasi is an exhibition that focuses on contemporary painting with a touch of graffiti. Uncle Joys artworks employ painting techniques and graffiti methods, combined with materials such as fabric scraps, glue, thread, paper mache, acrylic, and spray paint. Uncle Joy portrays freedom in expressing opinions and painting beyond traditional boundaries, resembling the rebellious nature of graffiti. He utilizes these mediums due to his personal experience and familiarity with the street art community. He repurposes discarded fabrics and scraps to experiment with various materials and create diverse artworks. One intriguing aspect of Uncle Joys works is the use of canvas and installations as a medium to criticize urban life issues. Through this exhibition, Uncle Joy represents the freedom of artistic creation and the power of expression. He demonstrates that the freedom of expression is not limited to graffiti on the streets but can be realized through canvas and other mediums. Additionally, Uncle Joy incorporates waste materials into his artwork, reminding us of the importance of environmental consciousness and its future impact. Karya-karya Uncle Joy menggunakan teknik melukis dan metode grafiti, yang dipadukan dengan media seperti kain perca, lem, benang, paper mache, akrilik, dan cat semprot. Uncle Joy menggambarkan kebebasan dalam menyampaikan pendapat dan melukis di luar batasan tradisional, mirip dengan gaya grafiti yang memberikan ruang untuk pemberontakan. Uncle Joy menggunakan media ini karena pengalaman pribadinya dan keakraban dengan kelompok seni jalanan. Dia memanfaatkan kain bekas atau kain perca yang tidak terpakai untuk bereksperimen dan menjelajahi berbagai bahan dalam menciptakan karya seni yang beragam.Salah satu hal menarik dari karya-karya Uncle Joy adalah penggunaan bidang kanvas dan instalasi sebagai media untuk mengkritik isu-isu kehidupan urban. Melalui pameran ini, Uncle Joy menggambarkan kebebasan dalam berkarya seni dan menyampaikan pendapat. Ia menunjukkan bahwa kebebasan ekspresi tidak hanya terbatas pada grafiti di jalanan, tetapi dapat diwujudkan melalui kanvas dan media lainnya. Selain itu, Uncle Joy menciptakan karya menggunakan limbah sampah sebagai bahan untuk menciptakan karya seni yang memukau, yang sekaligus mengingatkan kita akan pentingnya peduli terhadap lingkungan sekitar dan dampaknya di masa depan. Abstract

Language is one of the key aspects of human life that plays a vital role in communication and social interaction. An in-depth study of the structure and function of language is important for understanding the complex dynamics in society. This research aims to explore and analyze the Language Icons in the Logos of Bandung City Cultural Advancement Objects. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive method involving researchers who use themselves as the main tool to examine the condition of natural objects. Data collection involves triangulation, which is the integration of many methodologies. The Bandung College of Technology student team has collaborated with the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office in designing 10+1 OPK logos and icons in accordance with Law No. 5 of 2017 concerning Cultural Advancement, as an effort to preserve and maintain Bandung city culture in accordance with city regional regulations Bandung Number 7 of 2023. It is hoped that the design of the OPK Logo and Icon will make it easier for the public to understand and study all forms of culture in the city of Bandung. Keywords: Logo, Icon, Language --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bahasa merupakan salah satu aspek kunci dalam kehidupan manusia yang memainkan peran vital dalam komunikasi dan interaksi sosial. Pengkajian mendalam terhadap struktur dan fungsi bahasa menjadi penting untuk memahami dinamika kompleks dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelajahi dan menganalisis Ikon Bahasa dalam Logo Objek Pemajuan Kebudayaan Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini mengadopsi metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan melibatkan peneliti yang menggunakan dirinya sendiri sebagai alat utama untuk memeriksa keadaan benda alam. Pengumpulan data melibatkan triangulasi, yang merupakan integrasi dari banyak metodologi. Tim mahasiswa sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Bandung telah bekerja sama dengan Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Kota Bandung dalam merancang 10+1 logo dan Ikon OPK sesuai dengan UU No.5 tahun 2017 tentang Pemajuan kebudayaan, sebagai upaya melestarikan dan menjaga kebudayaan kota Bandung sesuai dengan peraturan daerah kota Bandung Nomor 7 Tahun 2023 diharapkan perancangan Logo dan Ikon OPK ini dapat mempermudah masyarakat untuk lebih mudah memahami serta mempelajari segala bentuk kebudayaan kota Bandung. Abstract

Visual Language of Children with Special Needs in Digital Motif Design. This article aims to understand the designs made by children with special needs in the form of digital motifs done on adobe photoshop softweat. Data collection is done through direct observation, literature study and practice. This problem is analyzed using qualitative methods with a design thinking approach whichincludes empathize which is the initial stage carried out personally to children with special needs to get the right action, define the selection of tools or software that can help realize visual works in the form of digital design, ideate the stage of producing ideas in theform of moodboards which are set as a reference for realizing digital motif designs, prototype the initial design of digital motifs that stilllook static and can be used as the main sample of the creative process so that it can measure the suitability of the designed designconcept, and test is the final stage of testing carried out as a process of understanding from children with special needs using Adobe Photoshop softwear so as to produce digital motifs that look dynamic and in accordance with the designed concept. The result of this research is the visualization of digital motifs that have character and characteristics through hand strokes and sense or art owned bychildren with special needs and add to the diversity of design work, especially in the field of fashion in making digital motifs as an effort to raise the value of art and creativity created by children with special needs.

Abstract

Teknik dan pola anyam tradisi yang dilakukan perajin dalam menganyam adalah cetakan untuk memproduksi produk secara masal. Dalam fine art teknik dan pola anyam dapat dijadikan sebagai struktur dasar dalam pembentukan karya yang sifatnya lebih ekspresif. Fokus penelitian ini adalah penerapan teknik dan pola anyam dasar yang berpijak dari tradisi, dieksplorasi menjadikannya struktur baru dalam pembentukan karya seni rupa. Penggalian nilai estetik yang berada di wilayah keilmuan seni rupa murni ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan seni rupa sekaligus seni anyam tradisi, sehingga dapat menciptakan pola baru yang memiliki ciri khas serta peningkatan nilai apresiasi. Metode kreatif yang digunakan adalah design thinking dengan teknik eksplorasi dan eksperimental bentuk. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan eksplorasi teknik dan pola anyam tradisi adalah berupa karya rupa ekspresif 3D. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menjadi acuan sebagai alternatif dalam berkarya seni rupa yang dapat diapresiasi oleh khalayak luas dan memberi inspirasi sekaligus ikut melestarikan seni rupa tradisi Indonesia.Kata kunci: teknik anyam, pola anyam tradisi, karya seni rupa, 3 dimensi

Abstract

The research conducted has the main objective of understanding how this social organisation contributes to the preservation and development of disability art, as well as identifying and analysing what strategies are used by Studio Tab Space in preserving and uplifting disability art. The researcher will also document the various initiatives taken by Studio Tab Space located in Bandung in order to maintain and develop the artistic heritage created by individuals with disabilities. Through a qualitative case study with an ethnographic approach, the researcher conducted a series of participatory observations and in-depth interviews with members of the social organisation, as well as collecting valuable data from documentation of activities. The results showed that Studio Tab Space Bandung has successfully created a space for disabled artists to express themselves and develop their skills. They use various strategies, such as training, performance, and collaboration with other non-disabled artists. This research contributes to the development of knowledge in the field of art by highlighting the importance of disability art preservation and the role of social organisations in this process.

Abstract

Abstrak Studi ini bertujuan untuk menggali lebih dalam mengenai identitas dan eksistensi pada kolektif Seni Rupa yang memiliki fokus terhadap medium Seni Grafis di era yang segalanya sudah serba canggih. Era teknologi atau yang sering kita dengar dengan nama lain era digital. Kini, sudah merambah kedalam segala aspek, baik itu smartphone, komputer, informasi, pendidikan, ekonomi. Namun, dikesempatan kali ini penelitian akan memfokuskan pembahasan terkait pandangan para penggiat seni grafis khususnya yang berkolektif atas dampak dan pengaruh digitalisasi, dengan adanya digitalisasi seperti saat ini apakah memberikan keuntungan dan peluang untuk mereka atau malah sebaliknya. Karena pada dasarnya seni grafis ini selain untuk membuat karya seni juga memiliki banyak tujuannya. Contohnya; membuat poster, periklanan, majalah, surat kabar dan media cetak lainnya untuk memvisualkan sebuah berita dan informasi yang dicetak secara manua. Oleh karena itu, dalam upaya mendalami pandangan mereka, studi ini akan memakai metode penelitian kualitatif wawancara dengan anggota kolektif seni Grafis Huru Hara. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih mendalam tentang peran digitalisasi dalam dunia seni grafis. Kata Kunci: Seni Grafis, Digitalisasi, Kolektif Seni Abstract This study aims to explore the identity and existence of a Fine Art collective that focuses on the medium of Graphic Arts in an era where everything is sophisticated. The era of technology or what we often hear by another name is the digital era. Now, it has penetrated into all aspects, be it smartphones, computers, information, education, economy. However, on this occasion the research will focus on the discussion related to the views of graphic arts activists, especially those who collectively on the impact and influence of digitalization, with the existence of digitalization as it is today whether it provides benefits and opportunities for them or vice versa. Because basically this graphic art in addition to making art also has many purposes. For example; making posters, advertising, magazines, newspapers and other print media to visualize news and information that is printed manually. Therefore, in an effort to explore their views, this study will use a qualitative research method of interviews with members of the Huru Hara Graphic Arts Collective. Abstract

Art is one of the important aspects in various facets of human life, therefore art exhibitions serve as crucial platforms for artists to interact with art enthusiasts and convey their artistic messages. Art exhibitions play a significant role in the development of visual arts in Indonesia. In this study, the author will examine, elaborate, and critique a solo exhibition by Taat Joeda titled “Like/Dislike” held at the Bandung Center for Culture Gallery. This research method involves direct observation or visitation to the exhibition and an overall analysis using art critique methods and mechanisms. The findings of the study reveal that the “Like/Dislike” art exhibition presents a refreshing approach in its theme about the tangle of undergrowth and captivating painting techniques. In conclusion, this research highlights the overall depth of the “Like/Dislike” exhibition with its theme “The Beauty Hidden Within the Thicket.”

Abstract

Icons are one of the main elements in communicating and introducing visual identity to the outside world. The design of cultural heritage icons and manuscripts in the Bandung City Cultural Advancement Object logo is one of the programs created by the Bandung City Government which is also written in Bandung City Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2023 concerning the Advancement of Culture. The Bandung City Disbudpar collaborated with lecturers and students at the Bandung College of Technology majoring in Visual Communication Design in the process of forming a visual identity in the form of the Bandung City OPK logo and icon. The design of cultural heritage icons and manuscripts was created to create a visual identity to preserve the rich history and cultural heritage of the city of Bandung. This icon is designed to include elements typical of cultural heritage and manuscripts. The Cultural Heritage icon represented by the classic architectural form of the roof of Bank Mandiri (EX–nedhandel N.V) on Jalan Asia Afrika No. 01, while manuscript icons can be found in manuscripts, fibers, books and chronicles. It is hoped that the design of the Bandung City OPK icon can become an icon that arouses a sense of pride, increases public awareness of cultural riches, and has an interest in cultural development that attracts the outside world and strengthens the image of the City of Bandung.
