Abstract

Unsafe behavior is behavior that deviates from generally recognized safe action or certain methods when someone do their task. Data from The Employment Insurance Agency (BPJS) in 2014 recorded 32,21% of accidents caused by unsafe behavior. Risk factors for unsafe behavior can be reviewed through personal factors such as knowledge and attitudes, as well as job factors such as leadership. This study aims to determine the description and relationship among leadership, knowledge, and attitudes with unsafe behavior of sauna production workers in PT XYZ in 2024. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design conducted from March to August 2024. Data collection techniques using total sampling. Data collection using primary data through distributing questionnaires with samples of 65 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. Univariate results showed that the highest proportion of workers with unsafe behavior was 36 (55.4%), workers who assessed poor leadership were 47 (72.3%), workers with poor knowledge were 39 (60%), and workers with negative attitudes were 40 (61.5%). There is a relationship between leadership (P-value = .000), knowledge (P-value = .000), and attitude (P-value = .001) with unsafe behavior. For PT XYZ, it should be able to build a HSE department unit by strengthening management commitment with the involvement of leaders first in order to create programs that can improve workers knowledge and attitudes.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the health disorders that can be fatal and is a leading cause of death worldwide, both in developed and developing countries. In Indonesia, hypertension ranks among the top ten causes of death, contributing 5.3%. According to the 2021 Riskesdas, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.1%, with 8.8% diagnosed and 13.3% undiagnosed. Health screening (MCU) results from workers at PT. X in 2023 showed that 13% of 138 workers had hypertension, and in May 2024, the prevalence increased to 20% among 120 workers. Although the increase is not significant, hypertension remains the second most common disease in the top ten list at PT. X in 2024. This study aims to identify factors associated with the occurrence of hypertension among office workers at PT. X in 2024. This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample size used in this study is 90 workers, selected using a system random sampling technique. Data collection was performed using secondary data obtained from the MCU results in 2024. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test, which showed a significant relationship between age (p=0.000), family history (p=0.000), body mass index (BMI) (p=0.000), and stress (p=0.000) with the incidence of hypertension among office workers at PT. X. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that the company strengthen its health education efforts for all workers, especially those with a family history of hypertension, and enhance prevention programs by educating healthy lifestyle practices, maintaining an ideal weight according to BMI, and conducting monthly blood pressure checks.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors associated with Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) symptoms in staff workers at the PT. XYZ operational building in 2024. The study was conducted from November 2024 to January 2025 using a quantitative method with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study was 70 staff workers in 13 workspaces. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, including SBS symptoms, room temperature, and humidity measurements. The results showed that 48 staff workers (71.6%) experienced SBS symptoms. The Chi-square test results showed no relationship between temperature and humidity with SBS in staff workers at the PT. XYZ Operational Building. In conclusion, there is no relationship between temperature and humidity with SBS in staff workers at the PT. XYZ Operational Building. Suggestions from this study include ensuring the commitment made regarding the improvement of the AC system and consistent room maintenance, implementing policies on the role of HSE, and further research is expected to include variables such as air quality factors, microbiological factors, and chemical factors in the room to detect sources of contamination suspected of being related to SBS.

Abstract

Work accidents in the construction sector are often triggered by workers' risky behavior in using personal protective equipment (PPE). This research aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and supervision and the behavior of using PPE in construction workers. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design. The number of respondents was 50 workers selected through total sampling. Data was collected using questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The research results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and PPE use behavior (p < 0.05) and between supervision and PPE use behavior (p < 0.05). Workers with low knowledge tend to be undisciplined in the use of PPE. Consistent supervision contributes to increased worker discipline. This research confirms that knowledge and supervision influence the behavior of using PPE. Companies need to improve their PPE provision and storage mechanisms, increase the effectiveness of supervision, develop risk-based work procedures according to the type of work, involve senior workers, and enforce administrative sanctions to curb risky behavior and prevent workplace accidents.
