Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that cause climate change that occurs in Indonesia. From every effort to increase economic growth, some elements are sacrificed. The Oil Palm Industry, high levels of CO2 emissions, Gini ratio index, and population increase in urban areas are variables used in this research. This research was conducted for thirty years, from 1990 to 2020. The analysis model used was the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The estimation results show that the palm oil industry, the impact of CO2 emissions, and the increase in urban population have a positive effect in the long term but do not impact economic growth in the long term because one of them is environmental quality degradation. Therefore, sometimes every effort to increase economic growth must be accompanied by mitigation of environmental impacts that will affect the short and long term.

Abstract

This paper attempts to show that causality of the impact of macroeconomic factors in the form of inflation and gross domestic product on the farmer term of trade in East Java Province, Indonesia. This research was carried out over eleven years quarterly, starting from 2010-2021, and was analyzed using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The finding of this study indicated that, in the short and long term, inflation has a negative impact but not a significant effect. A 1% increase in inflation in the current period would have the impact of decreasing the term of trade of farmers by 0.0009% in the future period. This often happens due to the decline in the value of the currency which is mostly caused by speculator buyers who buy products from farmers. Meanwhile, a 1% increase in gross regional domestic product in the current period would have an increase in the farmer term of trade by 0.02% in the next period. This finding shows that inflation cannot be seen as extraordinary, affecting to the farmer’s term of trade. Rising inflation can lead to the decreasing level of farmers' welfare due to costs that must be paid by farmers.JEL Classification E31; J43; O11

Abstract

Corruption is an acute problem in Indonesia. The government has made various efforts, including imposing heavy sanctions on corruptors. In the city of Malang in 2018, 41 out of 45 people were accused of corruption. Therefore, Fiqh as a study has become the basis for Halal City in the city of Malang since Mayor Sutiaji since 2022. This study uses library research methods in analyzing the concept of Fiqh in anti-corruption education with a quantitative approach to reveal the understanding of the people of Malang City about the halal city. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The halal city policy implemented in Malang City still focuses on providing guarantees of halal food and beverages sold in Malang City. Hence, halal city as a habitus still needs more efforts, especially in relation to the attitude and behavior of government officials and society who must represent universal halal values. Halal values that should be cultivated in the city of Malang are a culture of fighting corruption. Starting from the government, both executive, legislative and law enforcement. Abstract

This study explores the potential of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) in anti-corruption education as a tool to promote good governance within the context of a Halal City initiative. The research is motivated by the prevalence of corruption in Indonesia, exemplified by the high number of corruption cases in Malang City (41 out of 45 people accused in 2018). The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, employing library research, interviews, and surveys to analyze public understanding of fiqh and the Halal City concept in Malang. Quantitative data is analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings reveal a mixed public response to incorporating fiqh formulations directly into regulations (coefficient: 0.16). However, the study highlights a promising alternative: implementing fiqh principles within anti-corruption education programs shows a significant positive effect on public awareness (coefficient: 0.93). A key challenge identified is the negative evaluation of good governance within the current Halal City concept (coefficient: -0.64), despite public optimism regarding the initiative's overall goals (coefficient: 0.62). It is suggested to study these factors which can inform policymakers and bridge the gap between program execution and public expectations. Ultimately, this can lead to a more successful and well-received Halal City initiative that contributes to broader anti-corruption efforts.

Abstract

This study explores the economic, educational, and infrastructural challenges in Srigonco Village, Bantur District, Malang Regency, Indonesia. The village's dependence on agriculture makes it economically vulnerable, while limited educational opportunities and inadequate infrastructure further hinder development. The study emphasises the critical role of financial literacy in empowering residents to make informed financial decisions and better utilise financial services. By implementing Training of Trainers (ToT) programs, the village can enhance financial management skills and promote economic resilience. Improved financial literacy is expected to lead to increased asset ownership, participation in productive activities, and long-term economic stability, ultimately improving the quality of life for the community.

Abstract

This study investigates the perceptions of younger workers towards older workers in Srigonco Village, Malang Regency, Indonesia, amid a demographic shift characterised by a growing aging population. The research examines factors influencing older workers' re-entry into the labour market and the retirement preparedness of younger workers. Findings indicate a dual perception: while many younger workers value older employees for their experience and agricultural knowledge, they simultaneously express concerns about older workers' adaptability to new technologies and physical limitations. Specifically, 62.5% of respondents recognise that financial necessity drives many older workers to remain in the workforce, highlighting significant economic challenges. Moreover, 53.13% agree that older workers face discrimination and biases, which can hinder their employment opportunities. This research underscores the urgent need for inclusive labour market policies that accommodate the unique challenges faced by older workers while fostering collaboration between generations. Despite limitations in sample diversity and potential biases in self-reported data, the study emphasises the importance of intergenerational knowledge transfer for economic sustainability. Future research should adopt longitudinal and qualitative methods to gain deeper insights into the evolving dynamics between older and younger workers, focusing on effective policy interventions to improve employment outcomes for all age groups.
