Abstract

Background: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has a risk of death. The risk of death increases in patients with several factors, such as age, gender, and comorbidities. Purposes: This study aims to determine the risk factors for the cause of death in patients with COVID-19 at Fatmawati Hospital in 2021. Methods: This study uses a quantitative approach with a case-control design without matching with a ratio of 1:1. Cases were identified as deaths due to COVID-19 as many as 109, and controls were COVID-19 sufferers who lived or recovered during the treatment period as many as 109 respondents. Data were collected from medical record data and analyzed multivariately with logistic regression. Result: The bivariate modeling showed that Age, Diabetic, Pneumonia, and Acute Respiratory Syndrome (ARDS) have significantly affected COVID-19 mortality (p ≤ 0.05). Multivariate modeling showed the ARDS variable (p=0.0001; OR=53.067) and age variable (p=0.028; OR=2.8) to be risk factors for COVID-19 death at Fatmawati Hospital Jakarta with an Attribute Risk (AR) value of 92,7% and the value of Population Attribute Risk (PAR) 58%. Conclusion: This model can predict 62.1% of COVID-19 deaths; the rest is due to other factors not studied in this study. ARDS is the dominant factor causing the death of COVID-19 at Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium TB. According to the International Standard for TB Care (ISTC), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is one of the main comorbidities in TB. Purposes: To compare the positivity rate of GeneXpert in diagnosing TB to suspected TB adult patients with and without HIV infection at three private hospitals in Jakarta. Methods: This study uses a cross-sectional approach; the data comes from medical records. The sampling technique in this research uses the cluster sampling formula. The inclusion criteria in this study were adult pulmonary TB patients more than 18 years of age, patients with pulmonary TB, and patients who had complete medical record data, and the exclusion criteria were patients who did not have GeneXpert examination results and adult pulmonary TB patients who did not have laboratory results of HIV Rapid test results. Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square statistical test. Results: A total of 24 adult pulmonary TB patients with HIV and positive GeneXpert were identified, whereas 13 adult TB patients with HIV and positive GeneXpert were identified, and pulmonary TB patients without HIV and positive GeneXpert numbered 59, while those with positive GeneXpert numbered 15. There is a tendency for fewer positive GeneXpert values in Adult Pulmonary TB patients with HIV compared to those without HIV Infection. Statistically not significant (p 0.05) Conclusion: Adult pulmonary TB patients without HIV tend to have higher positive GeneXpert test results than adult pulmonary TB patients with HIV, and there is no statistically significant relationship.

Abstract

Generation Z prefers vaping over conventional cigarettes because of its diverse flavors. This trend, however, results in new health concerns such as EVALI. This study aims at the various components that may influence the use of e-cigarettes, also known as vapes, as well as the impact of these factors. The method involved looking at the literature and using journals published in the last five years using Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The work started from March to April. The results showed that external and internal factors such as knowledge and beliefs, lifestyle, and the influence of parents, peers, and social media. Because they are considered safer, attracted by the taste and packaging, and lack of knowledge, many teenagers are unaware of the dangers of vape. Other health impacts include respiratory problems and the risk of serious illnesses that reduce quality of life. Thus, it is hoped that people will become more aware of the dangers of vaping, how to avoid using vapes, and how to maintain their health.

Abstract

The use of vape is increasingly popular among Generation Z, because it is considered a safer option than traditional cigarettes, making vape increasingly popular among young people. Although e-cigarettes are considered safer, research shows that vape can have negative impacts on the physical, psychological, and social health of Generation Z. This study aims to identify factors that influence vape use among Generation Z and explore the possible impacts of vape use, both in terms of health, psychological, and social aspects. The method used in this study is a literature review, where researchers conduct an in-depth analysis of information from various sources, including books, encyclopedias, and other documents to collect theories and ideas that are relevant to the research objectives. The results of the literature review show that social factors, such as the influence of friends and social media platforms, have a major impact on the tendency to use vape among Generation Z. In addition, there are also negative impacts that arise, such as respiratory disorders for physical health, and mental health problems for psychological aspects. Thus, vape use in Generation Z is influenced by various factors, especially social factors, and can have serious impacts on physical health, psychological health, and social impacts. Therefore, it is crucial to raise awareness and implement stricter policies to reduce serious negative impacts.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: The project aims to investigate how the Covid-19 epidemic influenced nurses’ stress levels, shift work, and BDNF mRNA expression. Hospitalized patient numbers in Indonesia were rising sharply during the outbreak. This illness has a major impact on nurses’ levels of weariness and stress, which follow each other. High-stress workers have lower serum levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Workload, job conflicts, and sleep difficulties are some of the causes that lead to this stress. Methods: The study was conducted at the Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital in Central Jakarta, Indonesia, from July to September 2020. The study used an analytical observational approach and a cross-sectional design. The number of nurses who participated in this study was 89 people who were selected using This study included 89 nurses who were recruited using a purposive selection technique based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Anthropometric measures and intravenous blood collection were used to gather data for real-time PCR analysis of the BDNF gene mRNA expression.Result: The mean BDNF mRNA expression level was 8.93 ng/mL. Nurses reported work-related stress, with a significant correlation (p less than 0.05) between BDNF mRNA expression, work shift, and stress levels. According to the findings, those with low, moderate, and high stress levels had mean BDNF levels of 11.69, 8.65, and 7.36, respectively. Statistical testing revealed a significant difference (p less than 0.001) in the mean mRNA expression of the BDNF gene across subjects with low, moderate, and high stress levels. Conclusion: During the Covid-19 pandemic, a statistical correlation was found between nurse stress levels, work shifts and low BDNF levels.
