Abstract

PD Toha crackers have been established since 1979. There are 2 types of crackers, namely white crackers (rose) and yellow crackers (opak). Curly rose crackers and opak crackers are generally side dishes and snacks made from tapioca flour and spices that are mixed with warm water then molded and steamed until cooked, followed by the drying and roasting process, then frying, labeling and packaging. These curly rose crackers have a savory taste, are shiny white and have a crispy texture. This Trading Company (PD) aims to find out how to maintain the quality of crackers and increase their selling value. The method of implementing this program is carried out through the stages of market survey, pre-production, production, marketing and business analysis. The production process of curly rose crackers is carried out for 10 production times and produces 400 packages. Each production produces 40 packages of curly rose crackers with 37 cracker contents which are sold at a price of Rp. 5,000 / package. The curly rose cracker product has a B/C ratio of 1.30 with a profit rate of 32%, so this product can be said to be feasible to run. The ingredients needed in making curly rose crackers are tapioca flour, tuna, garlic, salt, pepper, and water. The production process of curly rose crackers has several stages, namely preparation of raw materials, weighing, mixing, molding, steaming, drying, roasting, frying and packaging. The critical point in making curly rose crackers is at the molding and frying stages.

Abstract

Introduction: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a prevalent digestive disorder with potential extra-esophageal manifestations, including laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). LPR can lead to various pharyngeal mucosal changes, impacting voice quality and overall well-being. This study aimed to investigate the association between GERD and pharyngeal mucosal changes in a population in Indonesia. Methods: A case-control study was conducted at a tertiary hospital in Indonesia, involving 100 participants diagnosed with GERD (cases) and 100 participants without GERD (controls). All participants underwent a comprehensive ear, nose, and throat (ENT) examination, including flexible nasopharyngoscopy, to assess pharyngeal mucosal changes. The Reflux Symptom Index (RSI) questionnaire was used to evaluate the severity of reflux symptoms. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, employing chi-square and logistic regression analyses to determine the association between GERD and pharyngeal mucosal changes. Results: The study found a significantly higher prevalence of pharyngeal mucosal changes in the GERD group compared to the control group (78% vs. 22%, p<0.001). Erythema, edema, and posterior pharyngeal wall cobblestoning were the most common findings in GERD patients. The severity of reflux symptoms, as measured by the RSI, was positively correlated with the presence and severity of pharyngeal mucosal changes. Conclusion: GERD is significantly associated with pharyngeal mucosal changes in the Indonesian population studied. These findings underscore the importance of recognizing and managing LPR in patients with GERD to prevent potential complications and improve quality of life.

Abstract

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects motor and non-motor functions, including oral health. This longitudinal study aimed to investigate the oral health status of PD patients in Semarang, Indonesia, and its association with disease severity over time. Methods: A cohort of 100 PD patients diagnosed according to the UK Parkinson's Disease Society Brain Bank criteria were recruited from the Neurology Clinic of Private Hospital, Semarang. Oral health assessments, including Decayed, Missing, and Filled Teeth (DMFT) index, periodontal status, and oral hygiene habits, were conducted at baseline and annually for three years. Disease severity was assessed using the Hoehn and Yahr (H&Y) scale and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression models. Results: The majority of PD patients exhibited poor oral hygiene and a high prevalence of dental caries and periodontal disease. DMFT scores and periodontal indices worsened significantly over the three-year follow-up period. Disease severity, as measured by H&Y stage and UPDRS scores, was significantly correlated with poorer oral health status. Regression analysis revealed that higher UPDRS scores at baseline predicted a more rapid decline in oral health over time. Conclusion: PD patients in Semarang, Indonesia, experience significant oral health challenges that are associated with disease severity and progression. These findings highlight the need for integrated oral healthcare in the management of PD to improve patients' overall quality of life.

Abstract

Introduction: Rapid urbanization in the Global South has precipitated a mental health crisis, particularly in high-density, low-income neighborhoods where environmental stressors are endemic. While the association between urban green space (UGS) and mental well-being is well-documented, a critical knowledge gap remains regarding the differential impacts of green space quantity (availability) versus quality (usability/biodiversity) and the mediating role of social cohesion. Methods: This cross-sectional study employed a comparative mediation analysis involving 1,240 residents across 15 high-density districts in Jakarta, Indonesia. UGS quantity was measured using satellite-derived Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), while quality was assessed using the Quality of Public Open Space Tool (POST). Mental well-being was evaluated using the WHO-5 Index, and physiological stress was quantified via salivary cortisol. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized to test the mediating pathways of social cohesion and physical activity. Results: UGS quality demonstrated a significantly stronger direct effect on mental well-being (β = 0.42, p < 0.001) compared to UGS quantity (β = 0.15, p < 0.05). Social cohesion fully mediated the relationship between UGS quality and well-being (Indirect Effect = 0.18, 95% CI [0.12, 0.25]), whereas salivary cortisol levels were inversely associated primarily with UGS quality (β = -0.33, p < 0.001). Conclusion: In resource-constrained urban environments, the quality of green space—defined by safety, amenities, and aesthetics—is a more critical determinant of public mental health than mere vegetative cover.

Abstract

Introduction: The Indonesian archipelago sits at the forefront of the climate crisis, yet the intersection of heat stress and mental health in this equatorial region remains under-researched. Unlike temperate climates, where heatwaves are sporadic, Indonesian cities face a chronic thermal load exacerbated by the Urban Heat Island effect. Methods: We conducted a retrospective ecological time-series analysis in Jakarta, Indonesia, spanning the period from January 1st, 2014, to December 31st, 2024. Daily psychiatric Emergency Department admissions (Total N = 48,210) were aggregated from three referral hospitals. We utilized a Distributed Lag Non-linear Model combined with a quasi-Poisson regression to correlate admissions with meteorological data from the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics, adjusting for holidays, day of the week, and particulate matter 2.5. Results: The Thermal Distress Threshold was identified at a Wet Bulb Globe Temperature of 29.8°C, reflecting a high degree of physiological acclimatization. Beyond this tipping point, the cumulative Relative Risk for acute psychiatric episodes rose to 1.21 (95% Confidence Interval: 1.14–1.29) at lag 0–3 days. Schizophrenia spectrum disorders showed the highest vulnerability (Relative Risk = 1.26) during the transition season heat spikes. Conclusion: The study establishes a localized thermal threshold for psychiatric emergencies in Indonesia. The findings suggest that high ambient humidity, characteristic of the Indonesian climate, significantly amplifies the psychiatric risk of heat. These results necessitate the integration of psychiatric protocols into the BPJS Kesehatan national health strategy for climate adaptation.
