Abstract

This community service program is entitled Improving Microcontroller Competence of Students of SMK Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar through Arduino Training Based on Industrial Practice and is implemented as a follow-up to the school's official request to invite university practitioners as guest teachers in order to strengthen industry-based vocational learning. The activity was carried out on November 27, 2025 at the Computer Laboratory of SMK Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar involving 50 grade XI students, and guided by Andi Setiadi Manalu, S.Kom., M.Ti as the main instructor of Arduino material which focuses on the introduction of microcontrollers, basic programming, sensor integration, and simple automation project design. The purpose of this activity is to improve students' technical competence in the field of embedded systems while fostering work readiness through real-world practice-based learning experiences. The implementation method uses an experiential learning and project-based learning approach, which combines brief conceptual explanations with direct practice, technical discussions, and problem-based project assignment completion. The evaluation results show an increase in students' understanding of microcontroller functions, programming logic structures, and the ability to connect hardware and software in one work system. In addition, students demonstrated increased motivation, confidence, and interest in industrial technology, as reflected in their active participation during the practicum and their successful independent completion of functional prototypes. Overall, this activity proved effective in strengthening the technical competencies of vocational high school students and supporting the implementation of the link and match policy between vocational education and the needs of the industrial world, while also emphasizing the strategic role of higher education institutions in supporting the improvement of human resource quality at the vocational high school level.

Abstract

This community service project, titled International Collaboration in Business English Learning: Enhancing Global Communication Skills of Polytechnic Students, was conducted by Doris Yolanda Saragih, S.Pd., M.Pd., in collaboration with Pauline De Goeje (Leiden University) and Mart Vogel (Utrecht University). The activity took place at Politeknik Bisnis Indonesia on September 30, 2025, involving 60 students across two interactive sessions. The main objective was to strengthen students’ Business English competence and cross-cultural communication skills in preparation for participation in global business environments. A production-oriented and communicative approach was applied through case discussions, role-play simulations, and digital-based learning to enhance students’ speaking, writing, and negotiation proficiency. The international collaboration component enriched the experience by providing authentic exposure to professional business contexts and global cultural perspectives. The findings revealed that students showed notable improvement in confidence, vocabulary mastery, and motivation to use English for professional communication. Furthermore, the project contributed to developing employability and intercultural awareness, supporting the institution’s mission to produce globally competitive graduates. Overall, this community service initiative demonstrated that sustainable collaboration with international experts can significantly enhance Business English learning outcomes and prepare students to communicate effectively in global business settings.

Abstract

This community service program focused on community-based livestock entrepreneurship assistance aimed at strengthening local economic self-reliance in Pondok Sayur Subdistrict, Pematangsiantar City. The activity was conducted in the form of a workshop and attended by 30 community members, primarily farmers and livestock breeders. The main speaker, Henry Dunan Pardede, S.P., M.M., delivered practical insights on strategies for developing farmer groups, with particular emphasis on financial management and marketing strategies for livestock-based enterprises. The program highlighted the importance of simple bookkeeping practices and effective marketing planning as key foundations for sustainable farmer group development. The implementation of the activity was supported through collaboration among Universitas Murni Teguh PSDKU Pematangsiantar, Politeknik Bisnis Indonesia, Universitas Prima Indonesia, the Head of Pondok Sayur Subdistrict, and the Pematangsiantar City Land Office. Evaluation results indicated that approximately 90% of participants expressed satisfaction with the program, reflecting high relevance and practical applicability of the materials delivered. Overall, the workshop effectively enhanced participants’ awareness, knowledge, and readiness to manage livestock enterprises more professionally, while reinforcing the strategic role of higher education institutions in community empowerment and local economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of content marketing and influencer marketing on purchasing decisions of Kopi Kenangan in Medan City, with content creation as an intervening variable. This research uses a quantitative approach with a sample size of 75 respondents who are consumers of Kopi Kenangan. The data analysis technique employs SmartPLS version 4 through outer model and inner model testing. The results show that content marketing has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, while influencer marketing has a negative and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Content marketing and influencer marketing have a positive and significant effect on content creation. Content creation also has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. In addition, content creation is proven to significantly mediate the effect of content marketing and influencer marketing on purchasing decisions. The findings of this study emphasize that content quality plays an important role in increasing consumer purchase intention, while the selection of influencers must be more selective to align with the brand persona.
