Abstract

The environment greatly influences the establishment of human character and large urban suburbs are areas inhabited majority by the lower middle class. The main goal in community service is to provide character education through free tutoring for Mathematics and English for primary school in course center Pencil Generation in Zone V Simalingkar B Sub-District Medan Tuntungan North Sumatera. The method used in process of the character education is the Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) method which is integrated during the teaching and learning process in the course center. The steps taken by the team in order to carry out this activity are as follows: (1). preparation for service activities, (2). provide guidance about characters, (3). forming learning groups based on class, (4). guide children to learn with the Whole Brain Teaching method, (5). sometimes play games related to Mathematics and English. The result of this service is academic improvement in Mathematics and English. Beside the academic improvement, there is also an increase in character that is manners, perseverance, discipline, tolerance, and caring.

Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan pendidikan yang di hadapi saat ini, maka terbentuk kurikulum 2013. Sehingga dibutuhkan cara tertentu untuk terwujudkan tujuan kurikulum, sesuai dengan karakteristik mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris melalui pengembangan modul pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Pembuatan modul pembelajaran bahasa Inggris ini difokuskan pada keterampilan siswa SMP Swasta Santo Xaverius 2 Kabanjahe untuk melengkapi buku paket dari Kemendiknas agar pemerolehan ketrampilan berbahasa inggris yang sesuai dengan kompetensi life skill siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gambaran pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan mendiskripsikan penilaian siswa, guru terhadap pelajaran bahasa inggris. Untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Untuk mendeskripsikan kelayakan modul pembelajaran bahasa inggris untuk siswa. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model Borg & Gall yang disederhanakan menjadi 3 tahapan, yaitu penelitian dan pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan pembuatan produk, dan Pembuatan produk. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui penyebaran angket, wawancara, telaah buku teks pelajaran, validasi produk, dan uji coba terhadap siswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP Swasta Santo Xaverius 2 Kabanjahe kelas VII sejumlah 36 siswa, dimana 10 siswa untuk uji coba kontrol dan keseluruhan sebanyak 36 siswa untuk uji lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pemahaman siswa dengan menggunakan modul pembelajaran metode communicative language teaching pada siswa. Untuk kualitas modul pembelajaran bahasa inggris disimpulkan cukup valid dan layak dipergunakan ditinjau dari aspek kelayakan bahan ajar yang terdiri dari validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan ditinjau dari hasil yang diperoleh dari validasi ahli materi, praktisi pembelajaran dan juga hasil uji coba yang dilakukan pada kelompok kecil dan besar.

Abstract

This study was aimed at Integration of Character Education in Translation Learning At University Of Quality Berastagi. Everyone in general is never separated from education. Where through education human beings will get their true identity with every knowledge they get as long as they carry out education themselves. With the existence of character education that has a function to form each individual has a good character that is embedded in themselves from the beginning to lead to a better life so that he is beneficial to themselves and others in their environment. Self translation or often called Translation is a compulsory subject brought by students of English study programs. This eye is also inseparable from learning about anthropology, sociology, economics that is closely related to human life itself. Learning translation itself does not only focus on translating a language into another language, but also focuses on how we convey information from the source language to the target language without having to offend or misinterpret a particular party.

Abstract

Kemajuan perkembangan teknologi dapat dirasakan hampir di seluruh lapisan kehidupanmasyarakat .Adapun tujuan penelitian ini yaitu  diantaranya melihat seberaa besar pengguna media sosial facebook di kalangan mahasiswa,intensitas mahasiswa dalam menggunakan media sosial facebook serta pemanfaatan media sosial facebook dalam pembelajaran  khususnya pada masa pandemi covid-19. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, yakni memberikan gambaran pemanfaata media sosial dalam pembelajaran di program studi PGSD Universitas Quality. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa teknik pengollahan data fiantaranya,dengan studi dokumentasi,wawancara serta menyebarkan angket. Sebagai kesimpulan dari proses penelitian tersebut ditemukan bahwa  94,4 %  dari jumlah responden menyatakan  bahwa media sosial facebook cukup memberikan manfaat bagi mereka dalam pengerjaan serta pengumpulan tugas,disamping itu terdapat 88,9 % responden yang menggunakan facebook dalam media pembelajaran dimasa pandemi covid-16. Pemanfaatan media sosial facebook merupakan salah satu strategi yang juga cukup efektif dalam pembelajaran daring khususnya pada masa pandemi covid-19 saat ini

Abstract

At this time in the world of education often have difficulty in dealing with character development in students. This also reflects the erosion of noble values that are basically inherent in the child himself. The rapid advancement of technology is also suspected to be the cause of the erosion of the character value itself. It is fitting that with these technological advances, precisely in this era of globalization, as users of technology itself, we should be able to take advantage of this in developing our knowledge. But in reality there are still many users of this technology, in this case students who are less wise in using the technology. This also happened in one of the schools, namely the Private Junior High School of Santo Xaverius 2 Kabanjahe. Moving on from these problems, as for one of the methods used to develop the character and noble values inherent in students, cooperation is needed between the roles of parents and educators in building character so that they can create a generation that is competitive, open-minded, and has good character. The objectives of this study are: (1) To provide an overview of the conditions for the growth of the character of students. (2) Provide input for parents and teachers in building children's character. The data processing techniques obtained are by conducting field observations and constructive interviews with related parties.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to find out how a woman communicates with the environment through the expressions shown in the film. Data used is the entire utterance of a woman named Mulan. In terms of data collection, the author uses a non-participant method observation or not participating directly in study and note-taking techniques. on the data analysis method, The author uses qualitative data analysis methods. Study result shows that the woman, Mulan, is more dominant in using the sentence a statement that has a subject + finite clause structure and a middle value of the modality when he talked to father, commander, and mage. his sister. From result The study conducted can be concluded that he prefers to provide information rather than give questions or orders. Moreover, Mulan who has a strong and brave character as a woman who pretends to be a man to join the war, has the courage to argue or say something more than the people around her. While the use of a Modality shows that as a woman who goes to war, Mulan wants to show her courage in convincing her Father, Commander and Magician she faces, especially by using the median value of Modality.

Abstract

The nation's intellectual life may be realized via education, which is a tool that is significant for all spheres of society. All pupils must be taught the same material using tactics or procedures that are effective in the educational process. In line with the subjects covered in the classroom, educators can also make use of a variety of learning media. It is believed that using learning resources would improve how effectively pupils understand the material. One of the learning tools that will be utilized in this research is the Secret box. The following are the goals of this study: (1) Fostering students' creativity and curiosity for artifacts created in line with the study topic. (2) Foster a greater sense of cooperation among students when they work in groups. The data processing methods were discovered through field research and helpful conversations with associated parties.

Abstract

Individuals who respect normative ideals should communicate carefully, particularly on social media. Instagram, for example, is a popular social media platform that is now used by active users. The hate speech on Ragil Mahardika's social media accounts is a reflection of the behavior of internet users who purposefully post comments and opinions about Ragil Mahardika's life. This research will also look into the many sorts of hate speech. Descriptive qualitative research with supporting theory was employed as the research approach. According to Waldron (2010), hate speech is defined as a word that tries to hate, violate, or discriminate against groups based on race, color, religion, or national origin by offending, threatening, or insulting them. Related to the finding, there are three types of hate speech uttered by netizens on Ragil's Instagram; words, phrases and sentences. The three types of hate speech tend to dysphemia. Because of the expression contains dysphemia, it can be categorized as hate speech.

Abstract

The teaching and learning process is a process where there is two-way communication with the aim that the learning material delivered can be well received. In this process as an educator, it is appropriate to try to find and use various ways so that the material being taught can be well understood by students. The mind mapping learning model is an effective way to use in English courses, especially at the undergraduate level of applied environmental health POLTEKES KEMENKES Kabanjahe third semester. Based on the results of the survey analysis in the field, the use of the mind mapping learning model made a very positive contribution. There are also benefits, including first, it is very useful in learning, especially in English courses. It can be seen from 62 respondents 100% agree that this learning model is very useful for English courses. Second, increasing student concentration in the teaching and learning process, it can be seen from 62 respondents 92.6% agreed that their concentration increased by using this model. Third, it can increase student imagination, 93% agree on this. And fourth, it can make the learning atmosphere more interactive. It can be seen from 62 respondents, 88.7% of them agree that the mind mapping learning model can liven up the learning atmosphere.Keywords: Learning mode; Mind mapping; English.
