Abstract

Abstract: Root canal treatment is performed to eliminate causal factors of infection and remove necrotic tissue. However, during treatment, the persistence of the microorganism, Enterococcus faecalis, proved to be the cause of treatment failure. Currently a lot of research is being done on natural materials as an alternative to irrigation materials because they are considered to be more biocompatible and economical; one of which is the Turkey berry fruit plant (Solanum torvum Sw.). This study aimed to evaluate the effects of several concentrations of Turkey berry fruit extract on the growth of Enterococcus faecalis through minimum inhibitory and minimum lethal concentrations (MIC and LCmin). This was a post test only control group design study. Samples were divided into treatment and control groups:  12,5%, 25%, 50% dan 100% extract of Turkey berry fruit, chlorhexidine as the positive control, and 0.9% NaCl as the negative control. All of them had been implanted with bacterial suspension, and then were spread on the MHA media. Observations were performed after 24 hours of incubation, and bacterial colony were count manually. Data were analyzed using the non parametric Kruskal-Wallis test and the Tamhane’s post hoc test that showed significant difference among the groups with MIC at 25% and LCmin at 50%. In conclusion, Turkey berry fruit extract of 25% and 50% can inhibit the growth of Enterococcus faecalis. Keywords: root canal treatment; chlorhexidine; Enterococcus faecalis; Turkey berry fruit   Abstrak: Perawatan saluran akar dilakukan untuk mengeliminasi faktor penyebab infeksi dan menghilangkan jaringan nekrotik. Persistensi mikroorganisme yaitu Enterococcus faecalis terbukti menjadi penyebab kegagalan perawatan. Saat ini banyak penelitian dilakukan terhadap bahan alami sebagai alternatif bahan irigasi karena dinilai lebih biokompatibel dan ekonomis, salah satunya tanaman buah rimbang (Solanum torvum Sw.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat konsentrasi ekstrak buah rimbang (Solanum torvum Sw.) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Enterococcus faecalis melalui pengamatan nilai konsentrasi hambat minimal (KHM) dan konsentrasi bunuh minimal (KBM) dengan menggunakan post test only control group design. Sampel penelitian dibagi atas kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol, yaitu ekstrak buah rimbang konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50% dan 100% serta kontrol negatif dan positif yang telah ditanamkan suspensi bakteri disebarkan pada media MHA. Pengamatan dilakukan setelah inkubasi selama 24 jam dan perhitungan koloni bakteri secara manual. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji non parametrik Kruskal-Wallis dan uji Tamhane Post Hoc yang menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna antar kelompok dengan KHM pada konsentrasi 25% dan KBM pada konsentrasi 50%. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah ekstrak buah rimbang pada konsentrasi 25% dan 50% dapat menghambat pertumbuhan Enterococcus faecalis. Abstract

Pendahuluan: Kepuasan pasien adalah aspek penting untuk melihat mutu pelayanan kesehatan yang diberikan. Mutu pelayanan kesehatan dapat dilihat dari 5 aspek dimensi yang disebut TERRA yaitu tangible, empathy, reliability, responsiveness dan assurance yang dapat diukur berdasarkan kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan yang diberikan. Tujuan Penelitian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat mutu pelayanan dan kepuasan pasien BPJS di Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat serta untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat kepuasan pasien BPJS terhadap mutu pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat. Bahan dan Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kombinasi dengan menggabungkan metode kuantitatif dan metode kualitatif dengan strategi eksplanatoris sekuensial. Sampel penelitian ini adalah pengunjung Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi sebanyak 131 responden. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik non probability sampling dengan jenis purposive sampling. Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa mutu pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut masuk dalam kategori baik dan kepuasan pasien BPJS dalam kategori puas namun dengan beberapa koreksi mengenai pelayanan yang didapatkan dari wawancara mendalam responden yang telah mengisi kuesioner. Uji korelasi antara mutu pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut dengan kepuasan pasien BPJS didapatkan hasil bahwa kedua variabel tersebut signifikan berhubungan. Kesimpulan: Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa didapatkan seluruh pasien menilai mutu pelayanan kesehatan dalam kategori baik dan kepuasan pasien BPJS dalam kategori puas, serta didapatkan hubungan signifikan antara mutu pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Puskesmas II Denpasar Barat.

Abstract

Dental Tourism is a new form of tourism where dental treatment is combined with tours, and several medical travel agencies provide specialized services. Dental tourism itself is an important segment of the growing trend of medical tourism worldwide. Tours and travel agencies consist of tour guides. The main responsibility of tour guides is to accompany tourists and, more importantly, they have a role in creating the quality of tourism. The quality of tourism itself is not only based on the segments of a tour, but also on the insights of tour guides in assisting tourists in various aspects, including medical and dental tourism. The results of the counseling show paired t-test analysis with a p-value of 0.12, which is greater than 0.05, meaning there is a significant relationship between before and after the counseling. In this case, it illustrates the benefits of counseling that provide additional positive value to the knowledge of a tour guide related to dental emergencies.

Abstract

Background: Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is one of the most common dental and oral diseases occurring in children aged 48-71 months. Several factors can influence the occurrence of dental caries in children, one of which is the consumption of cariogenic foods that easily stick to teeth. These foods are fermented by certain bacteria to form acids, which can lead to plaque formation and damage tooth structures if left unchecked for an extended period. Objective: To examine the influence of cariogenic dietary patterns and dental and oral hygiene habits on ECC in children aged 48-71 months at Kumara Bhuana Saraswati Kindergarten, Klungkung. Materials and Methods: This research employs a quantitative study design with an analytical cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling. The study involved 67 pairs of parents and their children (aged 48-71 months) from Kumara Bhuana Saraswati Kindergarten, Klungkung. Results: This study indicate a correlation with a p-value of <0.05 between the consumption of cariogenic foods with dental and oral hygiene maintenance behavior, and between the consumption of cariogenic foods with incidence of ECC in children aged 48-71 months at Kumara Bhuana Saraswati Kindergarten, Klungkung. Conclusion: There is a significant influence of cariogenic dietary patterns and dental and oral hygiene maintenance behavior on the incidence of Early Childhood Caries (ECC) in children aged 48-71 months at Kumara Bhuana Saraswati Kindergarten, Klungkung. Efforts to reduce ECC cases should focus on promoting healthier dietary choices and improving dental and oral hygiene practices among children and their caregivers.
