Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the storytelling method in improving the speaking skills of class X students at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. This study involved a random sample of 32 students in the control group and 34 students in the experimental group. The two group pre-test and post-test model was used as the experimental design in this research. Performance tests are used to obtain data. The results of the analysis show that in the control class, the average pre-test score is 58.76, the average post-test score is 61.78, and the standard deviation is 57.96 and 5.73 respectively. In the experimental class, the average pre-test score was 66.88, the average post-test score was 86.93, and the standard deviations were 65.96 and 3.26, respectively. The normality test L_count in the normality test is smaller than L_table (0.2562 < 0.2580) and F_table is smaller than F_table in the homogeneity test, so that the post-test data in both groups is considered normal and homogeneous. With 66 degrees of freedom (n1 + n2 – 2), hypothesis testing is carried out at a significance level of ɑ = 0.05. The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, because the t_table value is 2.032 and the calculated t_value is 2.933. This proves that there is a significant influence of the storytelling method in improving students' speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of picture storybook learning media in improving the storytelling skills of MIS Islamiyah GUPPI students. The method used is an experiment with pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects consisted of grade IV students at MIS Islamiyah GUPPI. In the early stages, students are given the habit of visiting the school library every 1 week 2 times and literacy activities every Saturday every two weeks. Students were given a pre-test to measure their storytelling skills before the intervention. During the four meetings, students used picture story books as a learning medium, which included a variety of stories with interesting illustrations and prophetic stories. After the intervention period, students underwent a post-test to measure the improvement of their storytelling skills in telling stories about prophets. The results of the analysis showed a significant improvement in students' storytelling skills, with an average pre-test score of 65 and an average post-test score of 85. These findings indicate that picture storybooks are an effective medium in improving storytelling skills, strengthening students' communication skills and literacy. This study suggests that educators integrate picture story books more often in learning to support the development of students' storytelling skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant effect of the use of the Self Directed Learning Model on the ability to write anecdotal texts of class X students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. The type of research used is quantitative research with a two group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were 68 class X students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. The instrument in this study the researcher used a test. Based on the results of the study, the ability to write anecdotal texts before using the Self Directed Learning learning model obtained an average of 55 and a standard deviation of 12.90994 with a distribution of pre-test data tendencies included in the poor category. The ability to write anecdotal texts after using the Self Directed Learning learning model averaged 83.1 and a standard deviation of 7.021396 with a distribution of post-test data tendencies included in the very good category. Based on the results of the hypothesis testing, tcount>ttable (10.828>2.03452) was obtained. This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is an influence of the Self Directed Learning learning model on the ability to write anecdotal texts in class X students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui analisis aspek feminisme dalam Novel Gadisku di Masa Lalu karya Ashadi Siregar. Novel ini menceritakan tentang kehormatan seorang perempuan yang dipandang melekat pada kesucian diri seorang perempuan. Dalam novel tersebut, sedikit digambarkan diskriminasi terhadap perempuan yang sudah tidak memiliki kesucian. Seorang perempuan yang sedang jatuh cinta ternyata akan rela melakukan apa saja demi kekasihnya yang tercinta, karakter Sylvani (Vani) dalam novel tersebut menggambarkan seorang perempuan yang rela mengorbankan apa saja demi kekasihnya bahkan yang paling berharga yang ia miliki, sedangkan tokoh Vita yaitu adik kandung Vani yang hampir dirampas kesuciannya oleh abang iparnya sendiri (suami Vani). Tokoh Vani memiliki persoalan yang tidak jauh berbeda dengan wanita-wanita lain di kehidupan masyarakat. Vani memiliki rasa kekaguman pada seorang laki-laki yang ia cintai, akan tetapi nasib berkata lain, Vani harus siap menerima perjodohan yang telah ditentukan oleh ayahnya. Perjodohan yang tidak Vani inginkan selama ini, ia harus menikah dengan orang yang tidak ia cintai. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Hal ini bertujuan membuat paparan yang sistematis, faktual, dan akurat tentang fakta-fakta dan juga sifat-sifat objek penelitian. Data penelitian yang diambil berupa aspek femenisme dalam novel Gadisku di Masa Lalu karya Ashadi Siregar. Dengan sumber utama data adalah novel Gadisku di Masa Lalu karya Ashadi Siregar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik hermeneutic yaitu teknik baca, catat, dan simpulkan. Adapun dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menganalisis dan membahas aspek- aspek feminisme yang terkandung di dalam novel Gadisku di Masa Lalu karya Ashadi Siregar. Aspek feminisme yang berkaitan yaitu mengidentifikasi bentuk ketidaksetaraan gender dalam novel. Dari hasil penelitian ini, dapat ditemukan aspek-aspek feminisme antara lain, 25 aspek kesadaran, 11 aspek komitmen, 10 aspek politik, dan 4 aspek budaya. Ketidaksetaraan gender dalam novel tersebut ditemukan ada 7 ketidaksetaraan menurut pandangan Islam dan ada 3 ketidaksetaraan gender dalam pandangan adat istiadat batak dan kajian aspek feminisme kesadaranlah yang tertinggi di dalam novel tersebut.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability to write short messages according to the content through card media in class VII Al-Washliyah 24 Medan students. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, which the authors describe the results of research on writing short messages carried out by researchers and students of class VII Al-Washliyah 24 Medan, amounting to 50 people. data retrieval in this study was carried out with observation, documentation and interview techniques. In the learning activities the teacher uses Indonesian language books and card media and short text messages. The results of this study indicate that the activity of writing short messages according to the contents through the media card has met the learning criteria. Attitude assessment is carried out through observation and documentation. Assessment of short message writing skills is carried out through interview tests or tests in accordance with the research instrument. The conclusions obtained are that the short message writing skills in class VII students of Al_Washliyah 24 Medan Junior High School have met the learning criteria.

Abstract

The novel Sunset with Rosie by Tere Liye captures the setting of the impact of the bomb that occurred in Bali regarding the lives of Tegar and Rosie's family. There are many social values ​​that can be found in the novel. Tegar's sincerity in leaving his new life in Jakarta to look after Rosie and her children, the relationship between Tegar and Rosie's children, the willingness of Rosie's children not to hate the Bali Bombing perpetrators, and so on. Based on the quote above, researchers are interested in researching the social values ​​contained in the novel Sunset Bersama Rosie by Tere Liye, because nowadays social criticism has become a problem that requires a lot of action. Especially in the world of learning. The title of the scientific work is "Analysis of Social Values ​​in the Novel Sunset Bersama Rosie by Tere Liye" The aim of this research is to describe the Social Values ​​contained in the novel Sunset Bersama Rosie by Tere Liye. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research by analyzing the analysis of social values ​​in the novel Sunset with Rosie by Tere Liye. The object of research is the novel Sunset with Rosie by Tere Liye. The value contained in the novel Sunset with Rosie by Tere Liye is something that encourages a person to be better. The types of social values ​​contained in the novel Sunset with Rosie by Tere Liye contain three forms of social values, namely social values ​​towards God, oneself and fellow humans. Social values ​​of human relationships with God such as gratitude, sincerity and accepting fate. Social values ​​of human relationships with oneself such as, Never Giving Up, Responsibility, Humility, Independence and Honesty. The social values ​​of human relationships with fellow human beings include, please help, respect others, care for each other, remind each other, be willing to make sacrifices, and be alert. Of the three social values ​​contained in the novel Sunset Bersama Rosie, the social value is the most dominant in the novel Sunset Bersama Rosie by Tere Liye is the social value of human relations between humans. This is because there is a lot of social interaction carried out in the novel involving the main character and other characters which creates social interaction between humans.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the moral values contained in the film Bila Esok Ibu Tiada. This film raises the theme of family conflict, responsibility, and the value of sacrifice in caring for parents. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through direct observation of films and analysis of dialogues and scenes. The results of the study show that this film contains various moral values, such as children's responsibilities to parents, the importance of communication in the family, gender equality, and the consequences of neglect of parents. The director conveys a moral message through storylines, characterizations, and the use of cinematic elements such as lighting, shooting, and background music. Analysis based on Bertens' moral theory shows that moral values in this film are related to responsibility, conscience, absolute obligation, and formal nature.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of podcast-based learning media on junior high school students’ speaking skills. The research employed an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were divided into two groups: the experimental class, which used podcast media, and the control class, which applied conventional methods. The findings revealed that before the treatment, students’ speaking skills in both groups were relatively similar, with an average pretest score of 62.5 in the experimental class and 61.8 in the control class. After the treatment, the experimental class showed a significant improvement with an average posttest score of 80.3, while the control class only reached 70.1. The greatest improvement in the experimental class was observed in fluency and confidence, followed by vocabulary and pronunciation.The t-test results indicated a significant difference (p < 0.05) in all aspects of speaking skills between the experimental and control classes. Therefore, it can be concluded that podcast-based learning media has a positive and significant effect on improving junior high school students’ speaking skills.

emotional, and academic development. This phenomenon remains prevalent at the junior high school level, requiring systematic preventive interventions. The Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata or KKN) serves as a strategic initiative in supporting schools to create safe and child-friendly learning environments. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of interactive counseling conducted by KKN Group 6 students of Naga Kisar Village in raising students’ awareness and understanding of bullying prevention at SMP Negeri 2 Pantai Cermin. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with an action research design. The subjects consisted of 45 seventh- and eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using participatory observation, pre- and post-counseling questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ understanding of the definition of bullying (from 38% to 82%), types of bullying (from 41% to 85%), and willingness to report bullying cases (from 47% to 79%). Interactive counseling using educational videos, group discussions, role-playing, and reflective quizzes proved effective in increasing student participation and encouraging moral courage to reject bullying. In conclusion, interactive counseling is an effective strategy for early bullying prevention. KKN students play a vital role as community change agents by bridging academic theory with practical implementation in schools. For sustainability, follow-up programs such as child-friendly school initiatives and ongoing collaboration with teachers, counselors, and parents are strongly recommended.
