Abstract

Introduction: The Province of West Java is one of the highest HIV sufferers in Indonesia that has increased accumulatively in 2013 to 2014. This condition was proven that in 2014 West Java ranked 4th among the provinces with the highest HIV sufferers in Indonesia. HIV has main target to infect a cell that contains of receptor, CD4. CD4 examination routinely is very important to decide HIV replication process. Meanwhile, CD4 test in the laboratory is quite expensive and not always available in every health facilities. Mangosteen peels extract contains of xanthones as an antioxidant, which is needed for body as a prooxidant that can inhibit the replication of HIV and the activity was seen from the total number of lymphocyte.Method:  The human experimental research has been done by Randomized Control Group Pretest-Post Test Design. There were 20 patients sample for each group. In group 1, HIV patients with ARV therapy were given mangosteen peels extract and in group 2, they were given placebo capsule. Wilcoxon Smith test and Mann Whitney U test were used to determine the difference between group 1 and group 2.Result: There is no significant difference between lymphocytes (p: 0.102) to HIV patients with ARV in each group examination. Discussion: The ineffectiveness is caused by the phagocytocity and cytoxity of TNF through the increasing of free radicals in HIV patients.

Abstract

Growth and development is influenced by children consumption and parenting patterns. The prevalence of toddler malnutrition in Salatiga is still being targeted by the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2015. This study aims to look at feeding, growth and development patterns of toddler in the Cebongan Community Health Center Salatiga working area. The design of this study uses quantitative with a descriptive approach. The population was 631 toddlers aged 24-60 months with a total sample of 251 toddlers using the Slovin formula. Data collection techniques with cross sectional approach. The instruments in the study used the Denver Development Scrining Test (DDST), anthropometric measurements, and food frequency questionnare (FFQ). The results of this study indicate that there is an influence between consumption patterns and growth and development of toddlers and parenting patterns. The result was seen in the measurement of nutritional status in toddler growth found the prevalence of underweight (7%), short (17.5%), thin (15%), the results of the development test suspect (8%) and toddlers with normal categories (52.5%). The consumption patterns of toddlers are influenced by the mood of toddlers who like to choose foods according to their want and parenting patterns of parents who follow the want of children who can affect the nutritional status and growth and development of toddlers to be good and bad.

Abstract

Mangosteen peel contains xanthone as antioxidant, useful as prooxidant balancer. The activity of xathone can be found from the number of NK cells that will increase the production of IFN-γ cytokine. The human experimental research has been done by Randomized Control Group Pretest-Post Test Design, 20 patients sample for each group. Mann Whitney test was used to determine the diff erences between the group 1 & group 2. The Spearman’s Rho Test was used to determine the correlation between the NK cells number and IFN-γ level. There are no signifi cant diff erences between NK cell number (p:0.911) and IFN-γ level (p:0.588) in the pre and post test examination after have been given mangosteen peel extract. There are no signifi cant correlations between NK cell number and IFN-γ level in each group (p: 0.074). There are no eff ects of giving mangosteen peel extract on the number of NK cell and IFN-γ level to HIV patients.

Abstract

Old age is often attacked the cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension. Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia (2012) states that hypertension is one of the most influential risk factors for the incidence of heart disease and blood vessels. High blood pressure continuously increases the burden of the arteries slowly. The arteries undergo hardening process becomes thick and rigid, thus reducing its elasticity. Hypertension can also lead to heart disease because if high blood pressure is left without regular treatment, the heart must pump very strongly to push blood into the arteries, over time the walls of the heart muscle become thicker. An abnormally enlarged heart is an unhealthy heart because the heart becomes stiff and the beat tends to be irregular. This will make pumping less effective and eventually lead to heart failure. Pharmacologic treatment using drugs have the risk of side effects. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of laughter yoga as non-pharmacological therapy in the elderly with hypertension by measuring the difference in blood pressure before and after being treated laughter yoga. Quantitative experimental research with pretest-posttest with a control group design. The sample used purposive sampling that is 20 elderly that is 10 elderly with treatment and 10 elderly as a control. The instrument was used analog tensimeter. Wilxocon different test results obtained from pre-treatment group of post systole and diastole p-value 0,007 and 0,003. While in control group of pre-post systole and diastole p-value 0,831 and 0,084. Laughter yoga effectively against decreased blood pressure in the elderly with grade 2 hypertension at the Panti Wredha Salib Putih Salatiga.
