Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan etika komunikasi dalam masyarakat Jawa yang dikaitkan dengan nilai etika atau moral. Bahasa Jawa sebagai sarana komunikasi layak dijadikan objek kajian untuk mengetahui karakter masing-masing individu atau kelompok. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan etis filosofis yang dikaitkan dengan tata cara berkomunikasi orang Jawa. Berdasarkan cara pengkajiannya, etika dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi etika deskriptif dan etika normatif. Metode linguistik digunakan dalam penelitian ini, meliputi kajian kalimat bahasa Jawa yang mempunyai struktur : jejer, wasesa, lesan (subjek, predikat, objek). Unggah-ungguhing basa Jawa atau klasifikasi bahasa Jawa sangat penting dalam interaksi sosial karena mengandung apresiasi moral yang tinggi. Hasil penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bahwa Masyarakat Jawa menyebut etika atau ajaran moral dengan istilah pepali, unggah-ungguh, suba sita, tata krama, tata susila, sopan santun, budi pekerti, wulang wuruk, pitutur, wejangan, wursita, dan wewarah. Cara percakapan dapat digunakan untuk memahami kekhasan bahasa Jawa di tiap-tiap daerah, sehingga mempermudah studi komparatif kebahasaan. Dalam sistem komunikasi masyarakat Jawa kuno terdapat kebijaksanaan hidup dan pendidikan tradisional yang dapat digunakan sebagai pertimbangan untuk menggali butir-butir kearifan lokal. Dialek Bahasa Jawa sebagai ungkapan multikulturalisme. Keselarasan sosial dapat diperoleh dengan studi kebahasaan dan komunikasi yang baik.

Abstract

This research aims to describe gendhing patalon in Wayang (shadow puppet) Purwa related to  the context of Islamic teachings. Hermeneutic method and theory are employed to explore this study object. Wayang Purwa is Javanese manifestation of collective reflection and contemplation, tafakur and tadzakur. Wayang Purwa, with its artistic values, has spiritual education or al-tarbiyah al-rabbaniyah and morality concepts or al-akhlaq al-karimah. The dalang (puppet master), wiyaga (gamelan musician) and waranggana (gamelan choir) believe this gendhing was created by Walisanga (the nine Islamic pioneers in Java). Dalang, with his central position in the show of Wayang Purwa ought to teach his audience to do righteous deeds  or amal shalih. The sacred Gendhing patalon conveys a religious atmosphere, which gives mystical experiences to its audiences. By seeing the performance, the audience is expected to get the idea of the self essence - rasa jati or makrifat. It is called wikan sangkan paraning dumadi or ‘knowing the highest truth’. Wayang Purwa plays its role for young generation in moral education, character building, and national identity in this global era. Problems of life as well as the nation can be solved by local wisdom approach.

Abstract

This article shows the wisdom of Sufism on social transformationin Java at the early spread of Islam. Sufism approach tends to emphasizeon self-awareness while accommodating ornamental outer symbols. Thispattern makes the process of being Muslims in Java more peaceful andacceptable for those who already have certain believe and religion (animism,Hinduism and Buddhism).

Abstract

This article discusses the traditional ceremony which is conductedto the natural harmony. The aim of this paper is firstly, to reveal the conceptwhich is constructed in traditional ceremony which is inherited bySunan Kalijaga. Secondly, it also discusses the cosmic awareness inJavanese spirituality. It is found that the environmental harmony conceptin traditional ceremony in Sunan Kalijaga’s tomb has a local wisdom andvirtues that need to be preserved. The cosmic awareness which is built bySunan Kalijaga in the spreading of Islam is taking the local virtues andtransforming them into Islamic teaching.

Abstract

This article will describe about spiritual, cultural and social activity in Masjid Agung Kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat. There are Grebeg Besar, Grebeg Pasa, Grebeg Mulud and Malem Selikuran ceremony. The Javanese community always do religiocity ritual that aim to get peace and harmony. Islam teaching able and Javanese culture value more together. Local identity become tool dakwah Islamiyah. Multiculturalism and tolerance spirit give enlightmen to environment. Traditional wisdom can be seeked in the big mosque of Kraton Surakarta that become central religious activity. Everyone should study traditional wisdom as symbolized in herritage of Masjid Agung Kraton Surakarta. Thereare much teaching that can be used as nation character building in global era.

Abstract

This research describes religiosity education of Javanese in Serat Wulangreh. According to this traditional popular literature that created by Sunan Paku Buwana IV at Kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat, everyone who studies Islam Religion has to get the four principles. They are Qur’an, Hadis, Ijma’ and Qiyas. Perfectly Islamic studies, one can ask to teacher who has wide knowledge.In practice, Serat Wulangreh gives advice so that mean always do akhlakul karimah or good behaviour.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas etika Islam yang terdapat dalam Serat Dewaruci. Dalam Serat Dewaruci terdapat berbagai kriteria moral yang tercermin dalam beberapa tokoh di dalamnya. Misalnya, tokoh Bima sarat dengan gambaran intelektual sufistik yang arif bijaksana. Dengan demikian, dapat ditegaskan bahwa Serat Dewaruci memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan spiritualitas Jawa yang bernafaskan Islam.

Abstract

One of the literatures that fill ethics and mysticism is Serat Bima Suci. It was created by Yasadipura I in the earlier period of Surakarta. Historically Serat Bima Suci, is still related with Serat Nawaruci that was created by Empu Siwamurti in the end period of Majapahit Kingdom. Serat Bima Suci is a literature that has acculturation between Javaism, Hinduism and Islamism. The harmony of relation between God, human, and nature become focal of Serat Bima Suci.

Abstract

The present study aimed to explore character education and philosophical values in the Ranggawarsita’s work entitled Serat Sabdajati. A qualitative method was applied in this study using hermeneutic design. The National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Collection of Serat Sabdajati was used as the primary data source in this study. The data collected in this study were the lingual units including the words, phrases, clauses and sentences in the verses of the Serat Sabdajati. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively using hermeneutic approach. The results reported several character and philosophical values found in the serat (manuscript), which include: 1) spiritual values including laku prihatin (caring), nglaras ati (harmonize the heart) , ngesthi rahayu (looking for salvation), jatining kawruh (true knowledge), ambuka wiwaraning dhiri (open up), manunggaling kawula Gusti (unity with the God), kemating pating pratitis (viewing the death distinctly); 2) religious values including andel mring Hyang (believe in God), temen tinemu (those who sow will reap); 3) social values including sasmita yekti (understand the truth), memayu hayuning sasama (maintain community safety). This study concluded that human needs to always aware of their origin and the place to return to. A comprehensive discussion was presented by comparing the results of the present study and the previous studies.

Abstract

This article seeks to examine Javanese gendhing which is used as a means to inspire the spirit of nationalism. Love for the homeland and the nation is an obligation for all citizens. Artists create Javanese songs to increase the sense of nationalism. For traditional Javanese people, Javanese songs are an effective medium to convey noble messages. The creation of Javanese gendhing with the theme of nationality is present as a medium of education and entertainment. By studying the virtues of Javanese songs, the younger generation is expected to be able to foster the spirit of nationalism. Keyword : Javanese gendhing, nationality, traditional society
