Abstract

Character education is very essential. Good character brings peace, happiness and peace of mind, both personally and socially, even for the nation. Character education reflection is shown in many puppet shows. Wayang as a spectacle and guidance. Wayang as a spectacle is for entertainment, while as a guidance is a vehicle for character education. Which is indeed full of character education. The data source of this research was "Banjaran Bima Play" in the video of Ki Seno Nugroho's puppet show, and is done by exploring and collaborating character education in the Banjaran Bima puppet play and its implications in education. This research used an instrument in the form of data cards. Data collection was done through the stages of observing, transcribing, identifying, and coding. The data validity was established through in-depth observation, repeated studies, extended participation, peer discussions, and source triangulation. Data analysis technique used the steps of classification, description, interpretation, elaboration, and conclusion. The results of the study show the character of (1) Godhead, (2) obedient to teachers and parents, (3) nationalism, (4) integrity, (5) responsibility, (6) discipline, (7) respect for others, ( 8) independent, (9) mutual cooperation, (10) hard worker, and (11) smart. These various characters can be implicated in the field of education, both at the education center (informal, formal and non-formal) and at every level of education (elementary school to university). This is evidenced that these characters are always contained in the Education Curriculum in Indonesia since 1947 to 2013 with various developments. Keywords: character, puppet, Banjaran Bima, spectacle, guidance,  PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DALAM LAKON BAJARAN BIMA DAN IMPLIKASINYA  DALAM PENDIDIKAN Pendidikan karakter amatlah penting. Karakter baik membawa kedamaian, kebahagiaan, dan ketenteraman jiwa, baik secara personal maupun sosial, bahkan bagi bangsa dan negara. Pendidikan karakter banyak ditentukan dalam pertunjukan wayang. Wayang sebagai tontonan dan tuntunan. Sebagai tontonan wayang untuk hiburan, sebagai tuntutan wayang sebagai wahana pendidikan karakter.  Sumber data penelitian adalah Lakon Banjaran Bima dalam video pagelaran wayang oleh Ki Seno Nugroho dengan mengeksplorasi dan mengalobari pendidikan karakter dalam lakon wayang  Banjaran Bima dan implikasinya pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen yang berupa kartu data. Pemerolehan data melalui tahapan mengamati, mentranskripsi, mengidentifikasi, dan kodifikasi. Keabsahan data menggunakan pengamatan yang mendalam/cermat, kajian berulang, perpanjangan keikutsertaan, diskusi teman sejawat, triangulasi sumber.  Analisis data menggunakan langkah klasifikasi, deskripsi, interpretasi, elaborasi, dan inferensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakter (1) Berketuhanan, (2) patuh pada guru dan orang tua, (3) nasionalisme, (4) integritas, (5) bertanggung jawab, (6) kedisiplinan, (7) menghormati orang lain, (8) mandiri, (9) gotong royong, (10) pekerja keras, dan (11) cerdas. Berbagai karakter tersebut dapat diimplikasikan dalam bidang pendidikan, baik pada tripusat pendidikan (informal, formal, dan nonformal) maupun pada setiap jenjang pendidikan (Sekolah Dasar  hingga Perguruan Tinggi). Hal ini dibuktikan bahwa karakter-karakter tersebut selalu termuat dalam Kurikulum Pendidikan di Indonesia semenjak 1947 hingga 2013 dengan mengalami berbagai perkembangan. Kata kunci: karakter, wayang, Banjaran Bima, tontonan, tuntunan

Abstract

This study will reveal the quality of the textbooks used in DIY for high school students. From this research, the textbook standard will become a reference so that it can be used to achieve the goals of regional language education that have been mandated in the curriculum. This is a descriptive study. The data were collected from the WIBAWA book "Wiyata Basa Jawa". The research instrument consisted of WIBAWA textbook assessment instrument with Fry Graph instruments/indicators. WIBAWA textbook readability was 66.67%, while 33.33% of the book did not meet legibility. The 33.33% unacceptability does not mean completely unacceptable, but there are parts that are too easy and some parts that are too difficult, so it needs to be revised.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan representasi simbol-simbol dalam naskah Babad Pecinna, dan (2) menganalisis nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam iluminasi naskah Babad Pecinna. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian filologi dan metode penelitian kualitatif. Metode penelitian filologi digunakan karena sumber data merupakan manuskrip Jawa. Metode kualitatif digunakan untuk menjelaskan representasi simbol yang digunakan dalam iluminasi naskah-naskah Jawa. Sumber data penelitian ialah iluminasi (wedana renggan) yang terdapat dalam naskah Babad Pecinna koleksi Museum Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis hermeneutik dan heuristik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerenggan yang tergambar dalam teks antara lain mulai dari kuncup bunga dan bunga yang sedang mekar yang menunjukkan sebagai penggambaran pola kehidupan. Rerenggan bunga yang sedang mekar jika dikaitkan dengan isi teks melambangkan adanya keindahan dalam cerita tersebut seperti watak baik seorang pemimpin sebagai cerminan pendidikan karakter. Abstract

This research aims to identify and anylize character building that include in the illumination the text of Babad Kartasura-Sokawati. The data collected through content anylisis and photography. Overall, illuminations picture that include in the text of Babad Kartasura-Sokawati contain character building of Javanese people. There are six character buildings that appear from the illumination, there are: 1) leadership value that appeared from the pictures of eagle, peacock, deer, kingdom’s flag, weapons, bridge fence, star, sun, mountain, river, forest, khandhil (oil lantern), leaf lined, lotus, and sunflower; 2) respect and honorable value that appeared from the pictures of eagle, peacock, kingdom’s flag, dhampar (the king’s seat), leaf lined, and sunflower; 3) value of the perfection of life that appeared from the pictures of khandhil (oil lantern), sunflower, and vines; 4) devotion value that appeared from the pictures of the star and the moon; 5) value to achieve peacefully of the inner and outer that appeared from the pictures of water waves; and 6) noble character value that appeared from the pictures of songsong (gold umbrella), leaf lined, rose, and sunflower. --- Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis ajaran budi pekerti di dalam iluminasi teks Babad Kartasura-Sokawati. Data dikumpulkan dengan analisis isi dan dokumentasi. Secara keseluruhan gambar iluminasi yang terdapat dalam teks Babad Kartasura-Sokawati memuat ajaran budi pekerti yang selaras dengan kehidupan masyarakat Jawa. Terdapat enam ajaran budi pekerti yang terdapat dalam gambar iluminasi, yaitu: 1) ajaran tentang kepemimpinan yang tersurat dari gambar burung garuda, burung merak, kijang, umbul-umbul, senjata, pagar jembatan, bintang, matahari, gunung, sungai, hutan, khandhil (lentera minyak), daun yang berjajar, bunga teratai, dan bunga matahari; 2) ajaran saling menghormati dan menghargai yang tersurat dari gambar burung garuda, burung merak, umbul-umbul, pagar jembatan, dhampar (kursi raja), daun yang berjajar, serta bunga mawar; 3) ajaran tentang kesempurnaan hidup yang tersurat dari gambar khandhil (lentera minyak), bunga matahari, dan tumbuhan sulur; 4) ajaran ketaqwaan yang terdapat dalam gambar bintang dan bulan sabit; 5) ajaran untuk meraih ketentraman lahir dan batin yang tampak pada gambar gelombang air; serta 6) ajaran berpekerti luhur yang tampak dari gambar songsong (payung emas), daun yang berjajar, bunga mawar, dan bunga matahari.

Abstract

The present study aimed to explore character education and philosophical values in the Ranggawarsita’s work entitled Serat Sabdajati. A qualitative method was applied in this study using hermeneutic design. The National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Collection of Serat Sabdajati was used as the primary data source in this study. The data collected in this study were the lingual units including the words, phrases, clauses and sentences in the verses of the Serat Sabdajati. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively using hermeneutic approach. The results reported several character and philosophical values found in the serat (manuscript), which include: 1) spiritual values including laku prihatin (caring), nglaras ati (harmonize the heart) , ngesthi rahayu (looking for salvation), jatining kawruh (true knowledge), ambuka wiwaraning dhiri (open up), manunggaling kawula Gusti (unity with the God), kemating pating pratitis (viewing the death distinctly); 2) religious values including andel mring Hyang (believe in God), temen tinemu (those who sow will reap); 3) social values including sasmita yekti (understand the truth), memayu hayuning sasama (maintain community safety). This study concluded that human needs to always aware of their origin and the place to return to. A comprehensive discussion was presented by comparing the results of the present study and the previous studies.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks cerkak semester tiga Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Daerah FBS UNY melalui metode Brainstorming. Brainstorming dipilih karena metode tersebut merupakan salah satu metode yang dapat membantu mahasiswa dalam mengumpulkan ide untuk dijadikan sebuah tulisan cerkak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Daerah Semester tiga kelas K dalam mata kuliah Nyerat Fiksi Jawi sejumlah 20 mahasiswa. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus, dengan empat komponen pada tiap siklusnya, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah pengamatan (observasi), dan tes menulis cerkak. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis kualitatif dan analisis kuantitatif. Kriteria keberhasilan dilihat dari proses dan produk. Keberhasilan proses diukur berdasar pada peningkatan proses pembelajaran ke arah yang lebih baik. Keberhasilan produk diukur berdasarkan ketercapaian indikator dan nilai mahasiswa yang lebih baik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Brainstorming dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerita mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Daerah Semester tiga kelas K. Peningkatan tampak pada proses dan produk. Peningkatan proses terlihat pada sikap percaya dirimahasiswa dalam pembelajaran. Peningkatan tersebut terlihat dari kondisi mahasiswa yang lebih terarah langkah belajarnyadan lebih percaya diri. Peningkatan kualitas proses berdampak positif pada peningkatan kualitas produk. Hal tersebut terlihat pada hasil tes menulis cerkak dari pratindakan hingga siklus II. Ketercapaian indikator dari pratindakan hingga siklus II meningkat. Pada tahap pratindakan 1 dari 20mahasiswa mencapai indikator, siklus I berjumlah 12mahasiswa, dan siklus II berjumlah 17 mahasiswa. Nilai rata-rata kelas juga meningkat, yaitu pratindakan 64,35, siklus I 74,95, dan siklus II 80,90. Penulisan teks cerkak melaluimetode Brainstorming memudahkan mahasiswa dalam pengumpulan dan penuangan ide. Tindakan dalam penelitian ini menjadikan mahasiswa lebih teratur dan terarah saat menulis.Kata kunci: metode pembelajaran brainstorming, nyerat fiksi Jawi

Abstract

This article presents a report on the needs analysis of Javanese learning for speakers of other languages. Applying the descriptive-analytical method, this study used data gathered from the survey of 57 participants from 27 different countries. The present study revealed that the most difficult aspect of studying Javanese is on mastering its vocabulary (54.8%). This condition limited the learners' confidence to engage in any conversation with the locals (74.2%) and made them less progressive in some other related competencies such as reading and writing. Based on the participants' responses to the survey, the approach recommended to facilitate the program of Javanese for speakers of other languages is the communicative approach. The design of the program targeted proficiency in communicating using Javanese. Vocabulary learning is needed in real situations and contexts. Therefore, the learners could improve their capacity in Javanese and engage with the local people better.  Through its comprehensive examination of the challenges, opportunities, and potential solutions, this research not only contributes to the field of language education but also reinforces the value of embracing linguistic diversity as a cornerstone of our shared human experience.

Abstract

Behavior is an action or behavior of a person in living life. Human behavior can be researched through ancient Javanese texts. This research aims to present Pastor Cethil's text in accordance with philological studies and explain human behavior in Pastor Cethil's text. The object of research is the text in Pastor Cethil's manuscript which is written using Javanese script in the Javanese language krama. The data collection technique in this research uses several steps consisting of; inventory of the Pastor Cethil manuscript, description of the Pastor Cethil manuscript, transliteration of the Pastor Cethil manuscript text, editing of the Pastor Cethil manuscript text, translation of the Pastor Cethil manuscript text, and analysis of human behavior in the Pastor Cethil manuscript. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research that uses modern philological methods and descriptive methods with a behavioral psychology approach. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data classification, data presentation, and data verification. The results of research on the behavior of each character in Pastor Cethil's text show several good and bad behaviors towards God, fellow humans and himself. Good behavior towards God is like obeying religious regulations as a priest who is not allowed to marry. Bad behavior towards others, one of which is inappropriate indulgence in lust with the opposite sex, can cause disaster in the future. Some of the human behavior in Pastor Cethil's text can be a picture of life that should be imitated or should be avoided.

Abstract

The Pangudarasa script contains the importance of maintaining national identity to avoid arrogance. This research aims to describe the values of nationalism in the Pangudarasa manuscript. This research uses a descriptive method with primary data from the Pangudarasa manuscript collection of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia with code number NB 1076.The research data consists of linguistic units in the text that contain values of nationalism. Data collection was conducted through heuristic and hermeneutic readings. The main instrument in the research is the human instrument. Data analysis is conducted using descriptive analysis. Data validation was carried out with validity and reliability. Based on the research results, the values of nationalism found in the Pangudarasa text include: a) maintaining the unity and integrity of the nation, b) loving and using domestic products, c) preserving the reputation of the nation and state, d) committing to defend the country from foreign threats, e) using the national language correctly and properly, f) prioritizing the interests of the nation and state above personal interests, and g) loving and preserving local culture. The values of nationalism in the Pangudarasa text can serve as an example as a foundation for living a life of nationhood and statehood.
