Abstract

This research aimed to find out the difficulties of online speaking classroom especially in speaking fluency at the Second Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Wonomulyo during Covid-19 Pandemic.The research used Descriptive Qualitative Method. Data of the research were collected through observation and questionnaire (open-ended questionnaire). The sample of this research was the Second Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Wonomulyo which amounted to 15 students who meet the criteria was chosen by purposively.Based on the research findings, the researcher found that 7 (46.67%) students had difficulty speaking online especially during the Covid-19 pandemic due to lack of confidence, 6 (40.00%) students were difficult in online learning process because of diddn't understand the material taught by the teacher and afraid of making mistakes. However, it can be overcome by extend the hours of studied beyond the school day. Therefore based on these results, it is recommended to use Online Speaking at speaking classrom, especially in speaking fluency to create a learning space that is flexible and can be done anywere.

Abstract

The thesis aimed at finding out the improvement of the students’ vocabulary at the 10th grade of SMA Negeri 11 Watampone in 2017/2018 Academic year in term of Mnemonic Technique with Crossword Puzzle Media. The researcher findings indicated that Mnemonic Technique with Crossword Puzzle Media effective could improve students’ vocabulary mastery. The result of the data indicated that, there was difference between students’ pre-test and post-test. The mean score of post-test (86, 11) was greater than the mean score of pre-test (69, 25). From t-test, the researcher found that, the value of t-test (7.082) was greater than t-table (2.056) at the level of significance 0. 05 with degree of freedom (df) = 27.result shows that t-test value for the final score of students’ vocabulary was (7.082 > 2.080). It means that there is significant difference between the students’ vocabulary mastery before and after using Mnemonic Technique with Crossword Puzzle Media. It is also said that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Based on the finding and discussion of the research, the researcher concluded that, the using of Mnemonic Technique with Crossword Puzzle Media could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at the 10th Grade of SMA Negeri 11 Watampone

Abstract

This research aims to know the students’ perception of e-learning in studying English and to find out the students’ problems in e-learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Eighth Grade of SMP Islam Athirah 1 Makassar. The design of this research is Descriptive Quantitative. The population of the research was the Eighth Grade students of SMP Islam Athirah 1 Makassar which consist of 30 samples. The technique was Random Sampling Technique and the data were collected by the questionnaire. The researcher used Likert Scale and descriptive analysis to analyze the data. The result of this study shows that the students perception of e-learning in studying English during Covid-19 pandemic have positive respond, most of students was agree with the benefits of e-learning. While the students’ problems faced was the level of concentration and seriousness of their learning decreased during online learning. The internet access is not stable and device facilities, such as smartphone and laptop do not support in accessing e-learning. The students were also difficult to understand the material provided by the teacher and have difficulty doing individual assignments and group assignments that have to work on together by online. The last problems were the students easily experience stress during e-learning. Based on the result, it could be concluded that students enjoyed the benefits of e-learning, but the sudden adoption of online learning and lack of preparation, raises several problems.
