Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this article is to provide education to students on the importance of establishing goals from an early age. Aspirations can be determined if students already know about various professions. The types of work that require education and special skills are known as professions. Therefore, many children do not prepare for what they will become in the future. Methodology/approach: The strategy used to provide knowledge regarding the introduction of various professions is to give direct lectures about various professions, equipped with their advantages and abilities that must be possessed and prepared from an early age. Results/findings: Through discussions with participants, the service team received information that, on average, students only knew about their profession, but did not yet know how to achieve these goals. In addition, many students still do not know the profession of private employees such as company supervisors or BUMN employees. They know only the professions they often see, such as teachers, doctors, police, and traders. This was discovered during the question-and-answer discussions during socialization. Explained the material from the head of service explaining the abilities that must be possessed if students want to become people in this profession Limitation: This service still needs to be improved with further activities to provide more enthusiasm so that children can be enthusiastic about pursuing their dreams Contribution: We would like to express our gratitude for the assistance and cooperation from SD Negeri 50 Palembang for the permission given to the community service team.

Abstract

Catfish is a fish that is currently in great demand among Indonesian people. Catfish are nocturnal fish that are active at night and are also omnivorous or eat everything. Catfish is a fish that can consume food from plants such as vegetables and trash fish as well as other food ingredients, one of which is chicken manure. The nutritional content of chicken manure can be substituted in making catfish feed so that the use of chicken manure for fish feed can be done. In this study, 4 treatments were made with 3 repetitions, namely A1 (control), A2 (10%), A3 (15%) and A4 (20%). The highest protein content was obtained in treatment A4 (20%) with a value of 32.40%. The best daily growth results were obtained in treatment A2 (10%) which was 3.80 cm and was the highest value compared to the daily growth value in the control. The best survival rate results were obtained in treatment A3 (15%), namely 99.33%. The best feed efficiency was obtained in treatment A2 (10%), namely 97.70% and the highest survival value was obtained in this treatment. From the results of the research that has been carried out, it was found that the best treatment is the use of chicken manure in treatment A2, namely the use of 10% manure in additional feed for catfish farming fish, so that the use of 10% chicken manure in 1 kg of feed can increase growth and feed efficiency in fish farming catfish.

Abstract

Purpose: UPR Mandiri Abadi is a community hatchery unit that focuses on catfish production at the grow-out stage. The rearing process is carried out for three months with the harvest of catfish weighing 1 kg per 6 fish. Currently, catfish distribution is mostly in the South Sumatra area, such as restaurants and catfish pecel sellers. Because the distance is up to two hours between the UPR location in Kenten and the sales area in Indralaya, post-harvest handling using cold chains is the right solution to maintain fish quality. Method: In this service activity, the team provided counseling to UPR Mandiri Abadi members regarding post-harvest fish handling techniques using cold chains. Members actively participated by asking various questions regarding good cold chain procedures for fish shipments. Practical Applications: This service activity also includes training and outreach materials which are designed to be easily understood and applied by catfish farmers, especially in terms of shipping fish using a cold chain system. Conclusion: Through this outreach, UPR Mandiri Abadi can maintain the quality of fresher catfish so that it can attract more consumers and increase fish sales.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on the effect of giving Mahogany seed meal (Swietenia macrophylla) on the mortality of the beetle Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. The method used is an experimental method with a complete randomized design consisting of 6 treatments and 4 repeats. The treatment consisted of controls A0 (0%), A1 (2%), A2 (4.8%), A3 (7.4%), A4 (13.0%), and A5 (17.4%). Mahogany seed flour with a concentration in each treatment was mixed with granulated corn to a weight of 50 grams, placed 20 Sitophilus zeamais beetles and observed for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Data were analyzed by anava calculation and BJND test at 24-hour observation, BNT test at 48-hour observation and BNJ test at 72- and 96-hour observations. The concentration of 17.4% gave the greatest beetle mortality effect, namely 75% at 24 hours, 81.25% at 48 hours, 91.25% at 72 hours and 100% at 96 hours from the number of 20 beetles tested. This study also produced KL50 values for mahogany seed flour, namely 11.90% at 24 hours, 10.41% at 48 hours, 8.69% at 72 hours and 7.23% at 96 hours.

Abstract

Kabupaten Banyuasin Tahun 2022 tercatat memiliki kasus stunting pada balita dengan jumlah balita sebanyak 2.092 jiwa. Artinya terdapat kasus anak stunting yang perlu menjadi pemikiran bersama dalam mengatasi permasalah yang terjadi. Ikan gabus merupakan ikan rawa yang memiliki habitat tinggi diwilayah desa pulau harapan kabupaten Banyuasin. Kebutuhan gizi protein tinggi sangat dibutuhkan untuk ibu hamil. Ibu hamil sering mengalami kendala malas mengkonsumsi makanan bergizi sehingga olahan cookies menjadi produk praktis yang dapat dipilih oleh ibu hamil. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan edukasi tambahan terkait makanan bergizi yang dapat dibuat dari ikan gabus untuk memenuhi asupan protein ibu hamil. Metode kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan tiga langkah yakni melakukan survei mitra mengenai permasalahan mitra, melakukan sosialisasi edukasi mengenai olahan cookies berbahan dasar ikan gabus, dan evaluasi kegiatan dengan posttest-pretest dan analisa SWOT. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian adalah terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dibuktikan dengan peningkatan hasil skor pretest dan posttest sebesar 22,4%. Evaluasi SWOT menunjukkan peluang untuk meningkatkan produksi menjadi produk pangan lokal yang berpotensi untuk dikomersilkan. Oleh karena itu tindak lanjut dalam kegiatan ini adalah melakukan pendampingan agar produk dapat dipasarkan.
