Abstract

Desa Lubar, Kecamatan Simpang Martapura, OKU Selatan memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai kawasan wisata. Namun keterbatasan kapasitas SDM terutama dalam penguasaan bahasa asing akan menghambat pengembangan pariwisata di daerah tersebut. Metode pelatihan bahasa Inggris dan pemahaman lintas budaya diharapkan dapat mempersiapkan masyarakat Desa Lubar untuk meningkatkan potensi pariwisata. Kegiatan pelatihan diikuti oleh 36 peserta yang mayoritas merupakan pemuda dan ibu-ibu. Berdasarkan hasil dari penyelenggaraan pelatihan, penguasaan bahasa Inggris yang lebih mendalam sangat diperlukan oleh pemandu wisata dan pelaku usaha di Desa Lubar. Abstract

The main problem of this study is, “Is it effective to use inductive way in teaching causative to the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Rawa Bening OKU Timur?”The method used in this study was pre-experimental method in one group pretest posttest design. The population was the eleventh garade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Rawa Bening OKU Timur. The total number was 115 students, consisting three classes. The writer took one class as sample by using convenience non random sampling. It was XI.IPA.I, the total number was 40 students. It was found that the average score in pre-test was 6.29, the average score in post-test was 7.00.The data was analyzed by using matched t-test formula. The result showed the t-obtained was 4.73. On the other hand, the critical value was 1.684 in df (39). Here, t- obtained was higher than t-table. It means that teaching causative by using inductive way to the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Rawa Bening OKU Timur was effective.

Abstract

In this study, the writer conducted "Maze Runner" novel, it educated the values as a part of our life. The problems were what are the educational values seen in the novel "Maze Runner" by James Dashner. The methodology of the study was qualitative study, it did not need statistic approach to explore the material, the descriptive analyzes. The primary data was from "Maze Runner" novel. The secondary data was from many literary books and some relevant materials to support and complete the primary data sources. The result of the research was there were some educational values in the "Maze Runner" novel found, it was never given up, self-confidence, friendly and be polite, love, forgiveness, optimism, help each other and responsible as a human society. And the most occurred was never give up and optimism.

Abstract

The problem of this study is "is it effective using PORPE method to teach reading comprehension at the seventh-grade students of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur?". The objective of the study is "to find out whether or not PORPE method is effective to teach reading comprehension at the seventh grade of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur." In this study, the pre-experimental method was used. The population is all of the seventh-grade students of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur, with the total number of the students 30 students. The sample is 30 students taken through saturated sampling consisting of 30 students as the sample. Based on the description, it could be seen that the result of students pre-test the average score was 5.01 and the result of the student's average score in post-test was 8.01. The result calculation of the matched t-test was 5.45. the t-obtained was higher than t-table 1.699. It means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In another word, the result of the study showed that it was effective teaching reading comprehension by using PORPE method at the seventh-grade students of SMP Pangudi Luhur Santo Aloysius Sukaraja OKU Timur.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there are any significant differences between students who are taught by using story mapping strategy and students who are not taught by using story mapping strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the tenth-grade students of MA Subulussalam OKU Timur. This study used an experimental method, by quasi-design. Meanwhile, the population was the tenth-grade students of MA Subulussalam Oku Timur with total students were 151. The sample was 71 students, consist of two groups, namely experimental class consist of 34 students, and control class consists of 37 students which chosen by using purposive sampling. In this study, the writer used SPSS 16 to analyze. The result of this research shows that the story mapping strategy was effective in teaching reading comprehension at the tenth-grade students of MA Subulussalam OKU Timur.

Abstract

This thesis is entitled "The Use of Transition Action Details Strategy in Teaching Writing Ability to the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Rawabening". The objective of this study was to know whether or not there are any significant differences between the student who are taught by using the Transition Action Details Strategy and the student who is not taught by using it. This study used an experimental method, a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study was 47 students, and the sample was 47 students was taken by using purposive sampling, those were 24 students of the experimental group and 23 students of the control group. Based on the calculation by using an independent t-test by using SPSS 16, The writer found that t-obtained was higher than t-table (2.868>2.014) at the significant level a=0.05 in two-tailed testing. It meant that there were any significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypotheses (Ha) were accepted. It can be concluded that Transition Actions Details Strategy was significant in teaching writing ability to the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Rawabening.

Abstract

This study discusses An Analysis of Jargon Used on Facebook Found in account “Mark Zuckerberg”. Hopefully, this study useful for students of English Education, particularly to help them understand the jargon that is used in social media especially on Facebook. The goal of this study to find out the jargon used by "Mark Zuckerberg" in account Facebook. This analysis used the descriptive method because it is to describe the jargon meaning in the "Mark Zuckerberg" account on Facebook. The procedure of collecting the data are: (1) Reading and finding the status of “Mark Zuckerberg” account, (2) Identifying the jargon used in the status, (3) Marking and finding the meaning of jargon found in the status, and (4) Concluding the data analysis. Based on the finding, the writer found Fifteen jargons, ten jargons abbreviation, one jargon phrase, three jargon words, and one jargon acronym in the edition of January till May in 2020.

Abstract

This research focused on students' speaking problems in English and the purpose of this research is to know problems happening in speaking especially when they are presented by the second semester of STKIP Nurul Huda Sukarja's English Education Program in their speaking presentations. This research used the descriptive method. The author uses observation, questionnaires, and interviews as a data collection tool. From the results of the questionnaire, psychological problems are most often problems experienced by the second semester English Education Program of STKIP Nurul Huda Sukarja with a mean of 72,73% who had a problem in vocabulary, 54,55% who have problems in grammar, 60,61% who had problems in pronunciation, 72,73% who fear of making mistake, and 57,58% who have problems in lack of confidence. In conclusion, linguistics and psychological problems are a problem that experienced by the second semester of the English Education Program of STKIP Nurul Huda Sukarja.

Abstract

There are three objectives of this study : (1) to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement of the students between before and after they were taught using DRTA strategy, (2) to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement of the students between before and after they were taught using KWL strategy, and (3) to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between the students who were taught using DRTA strategy and those KWL strategy. The 90 samples out of 120 students from the eighth grade students were chosen by means purposive sampling technique. It used quasi-experimental method. The data was analyzed using t-test. The result showed there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between before and after taught using DRTA strategy, there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between before and after taught using KWL strategy, and there was a significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between the students who were taught using DRTA strategy and KWL strategy. Key Words: DRTA Strategy; KWL Strategy; Reading Comprehension Achievement.

Abstract

The objective to this research was to find out whether or not there was any significant difference between students who were taught listening by using Shadowing Technique and who were not taught by using Shadowing technique at the tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Sukaraja. All of The tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Sukaraja that consisted of 152 students was as population. By using purposive sampling, the sample was class X TKJ 1with total 34 as experimental class and X TKJ 2 with total 35 as control class. The data analysis was carried out by using Independent t-test for SPSS 25 version. The result shows that value of t-obt = 3.434 is higher than t-t = 2.000 and the P-out put of sign (2-tailed) is  (0.001<0.05). Based on the result, it means that there is any significant difference between students who are taught listening by using Shadowing Technique and who are  not taught by using Shadowing technique at the tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Sukaraja.
