Abstract

Driven by the need for a suitable module to facilitate the teaching of Pendidikan Aswaja dan Ke-NU-an subject, we have developed an electronic module (e-module) based on Merdeka Belajar curriculum. This module aims to enhance comprehension, memory retention and empower students to take a more self-directed approach to learning. The aim of Pendidikan Aswaja dan Ke-NU-an as local content subject is to safeguard students from radicalism, extremism, fanaticism and religious intolerance. The research methodology employed in this study is Research and Development (RnD) utilizing the 4D development model comprising four stages: Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. The e-module incorporates learning outcomes and objectives aligned with Merdeka Belajar curriculum, along with interactive video links connected to the online platform such as YouTube. The results from pilot testing of these interactive e-modules in two sample classes yielded a commendable score of 79%, categorizing it as “fit for use.” The module’s utilization by 67 students across both classes demonstrated significant competency development in knowledge acquisition, comprehension, critical thinking and prevention from radical and extremist viewpoints. This can be seen from affective and cognitive assessments at school. Furthermore, the module effectively addresses epistemological challenges within the field of Aswaja and Ke-NU-an teaching, aligning with the historical evolution of these disciplines and local educational needs.

Abstract

The Averroism movement emerged as a form of support and resistance from European thinkers who followed Ibn Rushd’s way of thinking against church authority. This movement opposed the indoctrination by church authorities that restricted freedom of thought. Church authorities assumed that church doctrine was true and should not contradict it. The impact of the massive Averroism movement caused the loss of church authority accompanied by internal conflicts that hit the church camp. To strengthen the doctrine and faith of Catholics, Pope Paul III ordered Ignatius Loyola to establish schools, colleges, and seminaries which were institutions engaged in education known as the Society of Jesus. This study seeks to review and deepen the historical and philosophical study of Averroes’ movement in the establishment and development of the Society of Jesus in Indonesia. This study uses a literature review research method with two approaches, namely the historical research approach and the philosophical approach. The results of the study stated that there were two factors relating the Averroism movement to the development of the Society of Jesus education in Indonesia,: The loss of church authority due to opposition to the Averroism movement and Efforts to indoctrinate through education about Catholic teachings and understanding through the Society of Jesus. This study emphasizes that the establishment and development of the Society of Jesus in Indonesia cannot be separated from the influence of the Averroism which is expressed in thoughts about freedom of thought and the indoctrination of education.

Abstract

The position of teachers and students, who position themselves as human beings, cannot be separated from the concept of mistakes and sins committed intentionally or unintentionally. This refers to the Prophet's Hadith which states that every descendant of the Prophet Adam has certainly committed sin. Likewise, in the learning process, in order to understand the meaning of slow living (a peaceful life), a teacher must understand the mistakes in learning that occur between teachers and students, which can lead to sin between them. These mistakes need to be minimized by teachers and students by understanding the forms of error patterns in learning based on the thematic interpretation of the word itsmun in the verses of the Qur'an. This study uses a qualitative research type with a literature review research method and text analysis techniques. The word itsmun in the Qur'an is interpreted as a person who is sinful, an infidel, a liar, and each verse contains the meaning of opposing Allah and the Messenger and has a negative effect on oneself and others. The meaning of mistakes in learning made by teachers and students can be categorized as minor or major sins. In addition, in general, the categories of teacher and student mistakes are more directed towards human sins against the rights of society and the environment, as well as sins against oneself. The meaning of the phrase "itsmun" relates to the concept of slow living, which involves using time effectively and efficiently to achieve learning goals. Its connection to learning theory emphasizes the professionalism of teachers as role models for students, helping them avoid sinful behavior.
