Abstract

Nursing services delivered to patients are reflected in the work performance of nurses. Achieving optimal work performance remains a challenge, as several factors influence it, including leadership behavior and job satisfaction. Addressing these challenges requires appropriate interventions, particularly in strengthening leadership behavior and enhancing job satisfaction to improve nurses’ performance. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of leadership behavior and job satisfaction on the work performance of inpatient nurses. This study employed a non-experimental, cross-sectional analytic design. Logistic regression analysis was conducted using SPSS version 24.0 to assess the influence of the independent variables (leadership behavior and job satisfaction) on the dependent variable (work performance). Data were collected through questionnaires administered to 39 inpatient nurses at Harapan Mulia Cibarusah Cikarang Hospital. The findings revealed a significant effect of leadership behavior on work performance with a p-value of 0.009 (p < 0.05) and an Odds Ratio (OR) of 12.818, indicating that nurses experiencing poor leadership behavior were 12.818 times more likely to have low work performance compared to those under effective leadership. Job satisfaction also had a significant effect on work performance, with a p-value of 0.048 (p < 0.05) and an OR of 7.051, meaning that nurses with low job satisfaction were 7.051 times more likely to have poor work performance compared to those who were satisfied. The R-square value obtained was 0.607, signifying that leadership behavior and job satisfaction collectively explained 60.7% of the variance in work performance, while the remaining 39.3% was influenced by other unexamined factors. Among the two variables studied, leadership behavior exerted the strongest influence on nurses’ work performance, as indicated by its higher OR compared to job satisfaction. It is recommended that hospital management strengthen leadership practices among ward heads and consistently attend to the job satisfaction of inpatient nurses, thereby fostering constructive improvements in work performance.

Abstract

Background : Patient loyalty is a crucial aspect of the sustainability of pharmacy services in hospitals. Factors such as drug availability, pharmacy service waiting time, and drug information provision can influence patient satisfaction and loyalty. This study aims to analyze the influence of these three factors on outpatient loyalty at RS Islam Al Mucthar Karawang. Method: This research employs a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 96 outpatients were selected using purposive sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test for bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression for multivariate analysis. Results: Bivariate analysis showed that drug availability (p = 0.012) and pharmacy service waiting time (p = 0.007) significantly influence patient loyalty, while drug information provision does not (p = 0.094). Multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression revealed that, simultaneously, drug availability and waiting time for prescription services affect patient loyalty, while drug information provision does not have a significant influence. Conclusion: Improving drug availability and reducing pharmacy service waiting times can enhance patient loyalty to hospital pharmacy services. Although the provision of drug information did not significantly affect patient loyalty, it should still be improved to support patient adherence in medication use. Abstract

Intensifying competition within the healthcare service sector necessitates that hospitals adopt effective strategies to sustain and enhance patient satisfaction levels. The implementation of marketing mix principles represents one such strategic approach. This investigation was conducted at Graha Husada Hospital Tuban, a type D referral facility situated in the southern region of Tuban Regency. The research employed an extended 4P marketing mix framework encompassing product, price, place, and promotion, supplemented by physical evidence as a critical component representing patients' perceived service quality among inpatients. The primary objective of this study was to examine the influence of marketing mix elements (product, price, place, promotion, and physical evidence) on patient satisfaction and to assess the effectiveness of marketing mix educational interventions. This quantitative investigation utilized a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. Fifty inpatients were recruited through purposive sampling methodology. The intervention comprised educational brochure distribution, with measurements conducted pre- and post-intervention using validated structured questionnaires. Statistical analyses were performed using paired t-tests and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results demonstrated a significant increase in patient satisfaction following the intervention, with mean scores increasing from 89.14 to 100.62. Pearson correlation analysis revealed that physical evidence (r = 0.732) and product quality (r = 0.719) exhibited the strongest associations with patient satisfaction, whereas price demonstrated no statistically significant influence. Overall, the marketing mix demonstrated a significant positive correlation with patient satisfaction (r = 0.699; p < 0.05). The educational intervention focusing on marketing mix principles effectively enhanced inpatient satisfaction at Graha Husada Hospital Tuban.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership on nurses' roles in professional ethical communication and its implications for hospital branding at Bunda Margonda General Hospital, Depok. A mixed methods approach was applied, combining quantitative surveys using MLQ, NELQ, and Aaker & Keller's brand equity scales, and qualitative semi-structured interviews with head nurses, staff nurses, marketing managers, and returning patients. A total of 114 staff nurses were included using total sampling. Path analysis revealed that transformational leadership significantly affects nurses’ ethical communication (β = 0.278; p = 0.003), and ethical communication significantly impacts hospital branding (β = 0.424; p = 0.000). However, transformational leadership does not directly influence branding (p > 0.05), but rather through the mediating role of ethical communication. Qualitative triangulation supports this finding, highlighting that the leadership of head nurses in cultivating ethical culture greatly influences hospital image. The study recommends routine training in transformational leadership and ethical communication for nurses as a strategy to improve service quality and institutional image.
